It's well known that working in retail that you're gonna get sick.
After all, you're faced with hundreds of people.
And not all of them are in perfect health when they come visit public places.
So like...you kinda expect that you're gonna catch something.
Though after a while working in the retail scene...you kinda become immune to things? Like you don't get sick as much because your immune system gets stronger??
Yah..something like that.
Well.
It feels different now.
With the virus and such.
Like hearing someone sneeze, cough, clear their throat.
You wonder...do they have the virus?
Are you gonna get sick? Are you gonna get it?
*exhales*
It's frustrating.
Annoying.
Stressful.
And today it felt moreso that way.
As I had one customer who kept doing that single clear your throat sort of cough.
Without doing anything to cover their mouth.
And then kept trying to approach to close to me.
Like dude.
Stick to the six feet rule and cover your freaking mouth.
Then I had an older couple come in.
Old enough where I was like O_o why in the world are you OUTSIDE?! Go back into your homes where you're SAFE!
Like they had masks on and such.
But the wife was in a wheelchair and coughing up a storm.
Like literally coughing for ten minutes straight without stopping.
Apparently it was asthma related? At least that's what the husband said.
But at the same time.
I just watched the lady pull her mask down and cough directly into her hand.
Like.
:S :S :S
You may say it's not the virus. That it's just asthma.
But like.
It might not be.
And you were just coughing for ten minutes straight.
Into your hand.
Like....
It's stressful being in that sort of situation.
Like under normal circumstances I would have offered to get some water. Or something.
But like...our drinking fountains are closed to the public.
And I doubt the woman could have taken a drink from coughing.
I just...
It's hard.
So hard to be working right now. Being out in public.
Watching as people either take this seriously...but also watching them take it not seriously. Trying to act like nothing is wrong that life is normal.
It's stressful.
I'm so tired of it.

Down to 8
Whelp.
We're down to eight.
For a few days at least.
One of my coworkers was diagnosed with a viral infection by their doctor today.
Thankfully it's not covid.
But the doctor didn't want them coming into work for a few days at least.
Which means....
We're down to eight people.
*exhales*
I'm honestly not surprised it happened.
I mean you have a skeleton crew running an essential business....
The stress alone would be enough to make a person sick.
Not to mention not knowing if the next customer you interact with will carry the virus.
And having only one person to do the job of like four.
It's stressful.
I hope that we manage to survive the rest of this week without any other issues.
We'll see.
Until you next see these words;
I'll be watching the leaves.
Enjoy the day!

Cookie
My roomie brought me a cookie today.
One from Crumbl cookies.
And it was divine.
Filled with nutella...which is really about the only time I'm obsessed with nutella is when it's on/in a crumbl cookie.
It was just a sweet gesture from her though.
She was out and about grabbing food in the area and decided to drop by the little shop and get cookies for me and her.
I do have to admit warm chocolatey cookie in your mouth after you've been working all day and trying to keep a good face on for both your coworkers and customers is just like...a blessing in disguise.
Who can be mad or irritated when there's a warm cookie in your mouth??
Certainly not me.
It was awesome.
Yay cookie to snack on during my shift. ^^;;

Tired
I. am. so. tired.
I worked a closing shift tonight.
Which closing shifts are almost always draining for me.
Because of the customer service.
Helping people constantly is draining.
Especially when I can't help them.
Which happened a lot. Since we stopped selling animals after 4pm today.
And customers weren't happy about that.
But we didn't really have a choice.
As it was only me and a manager tonight.
Two people.
On a Monday Night.
Closing by ourselves.
It was stressful.
My manager was on the register helping check out customers nonstop.
While I ended up running around the store helping customers, answering the phone, and then taking out orders to people waiting in the cars.
Round and around and around and around.
It was nuts.
It was tiring.
I'm just...exhausted.
I really wish we had more people still working in the store.
Because only two closers severly sucks.
Until you next see these words;
I'll be watching the leaves.

Going Through Things
There's something...emotionally draining about going through things. Picking what will stay and what will leave.
Like for some objects it's easy. There's no emotional connection to them.
For others...it's harder. There's memories. History. Emotions. That come with an item and it's hard to decide if the thing should stay or go.
Daddoo was doing another cleaning spree where he wanted us kids to go through all the random things in the kitchen.
As he's going to be remodeling it soon.
And there's just a lot of...stuff....that he's not gonna be using.
So he brought us all together to pick and choose and see if there was anything we needed or wanted.
As the rest will either get boxed up and placed in another room or else be sent to the D.I. once it reopens.
So yah.
It was...just kinda draining...emotionally.
More changes. *exhales*
I don't like lots of changes.
And it feels like my childhood home has changed a lot in the past year.
To the point where it hardly feels like I'm coming home when I drop by for a visit.
It just feels like a place I'm visiting.
I don't like that feeling.
But if it makes daddoo happy...he's the one living there...he should make the place how he wants it.
Until you next read these words;
I'll be watching the leaves.

Slow Day
It feels like it's been forever since I've felt like....work was taking an eternity to pass by.
But gah.
Today it felt like my shift took an eternity to complete.
Each hour felt like three hours.
And that was rather surprising for a Saturday shift.
As it should be busy enough that time should move pretty quickly.
Of course.
It was a closing shift.
And I was scheduled the dreaded 8 hours of customer service that I had to spend like every saturday for a year or so doing.
So perhaps the subconscious dread of having to work that closing shift....made the day crawl by?
No idea.
*exhales*
Perhaps it was the fact that this Saturday was less busy than I was expecting it to be.
I mean, it's the first Saturday in my state where we're allowed a 'slow opening' where some businesses can open again.
So I was almost expecting the store to be crowded with people.
And it was surprisingly....not.
Like we did have our moments of being busy.
But it didn't feel like a Saturday.
And perhaps that's why the day dragged by.
I wasn't constantly helping customers.
Normally on other days I have tasks I need to be doing. Stuff to keep me busy.
But Saturdays?
Saturday afternoons?
Not so much.
It's customer oriented.
But with no customers.
It was basically me searching for things to do.
And yet....
Time dragged by.
It only seemed to speed up when we finally closed down my department for the night and I could go about doing the closing tasks. The last two hours of my shift went by alot quicker than the first 6.
But yah.
Today was torture.
I hope it doesn't happen again any time soon.
Until you next see these words;
I'll be watching the leaves.

When Did This Happen?
So....I apparently lost the tailpipe on my car.
But not like...I lost it lost it. I still have it surprisingly enough.
I just didn't realize it had...fallen off.
Like.
I knew that the pipe was getting rather rusty as there had been broken pieces off the end of it that I could see the last time I noticed my tailpipe....
But I honestly don't know when that last time was....
Not recently if I didn't realize it was gone until yesterday.
And the only reason why I discovered it was missing.....and where the part had ended up....
Was because I finally chose to move my 72 hour kit out of my car and put it back in the house.
As I had placed it in my car after the earthquake that had happened...and left it there.
But with the weather getting much warmer now...it's not good to leave that in my car.
So I took the opportunity to do so...and as I was pulling the kit out of the back of my car.
I noticed this random metal pipe sitting in the back as well.
I was like O.o??? What is this random thing?
Pulled it out to get a closer look.
And realized.
Oh hey.
This is my tail pipe!
A closer look at the bottom of my car confirmed that indeed the tailpipe that was supposed to be there was nowhere to be found.
So this random metal pipe with it's rusted edges....was more than likely my tailpipe.
But the question was.
HOW DID IT GET INTO THE BACK OF MY CAR?!?!?
Because like....I had no idea it was missing. I don't recall anyone telling me it was missing.
And like...I keep my car locked practically at all times!
Especially the back door. That thing only got unlocked when I placed my 72 hour kit in it and that was like back in March? So like....I was pretty sure I still had a tailpipe back then....
And since then there's only been like two or three times when the side doors were potentially left unlocked (because I was driving others around and my car needs to be manually un/locked.)
So WHEN did the tailpipe end up in the back of my car?
HOW did it get there?
WHY did no one tell me?
Like I haven't been to the repair shop recently...and I would hope if my tailpipe fell off they would tell me....
So was it a roommate? Was it some random stranger who found my tailpipe on the ground and just found one of the doors unlocked and tossed it in the back of my car??
I don't know.
I don't get it.
I'm so confused.
Where did you come from metal pipe?! When did you break off?! Gah.
*shakes head*
Now I get the fun task of discovering if I actually need that on my car for it to pass inspection...because of course my registration is coming due again....so like....we'll see how this will go.
Until you next read these words;
I'll be watching the leaves.
