You have got love those discussions between brother/sisters, parents/child, husband/wife, etc.
Especially when its between a guy and a girl.
Since both genders see the world so different, often times words/phrases/expressions are misunderstood by the opposite side.
A: "Whats going on here?"
B: "She said (insert words here)!"
C: "I never said that!"
B: "Did too!"
C: "No I did not! I said (insert different words here)"
B: "No, You said (insert words mentioned by B before)"
C: "I did not say that!"
B: "Yes you did!"
Its kind of funny what we hear and don't hear isn't it?
In one of my institute classes we were talking about one of the talks given in General Conference.
-It was a Priesthood session talk that talked about a scorpion stinging a boy on the foot.
People were like "Okay He was stung."
Then one voice spoke up. "Where was he stung?"
lol, it was amazing all the different answers that came.
"he was stung on the back of the ankle."
"No it went through the flip-flops into the bottom of his foot."
"No, no. it didn't go through the sandals."
"I heard he was stung on the arch of the foot."
lol, after a minute or so of that, many of the class decided to go back and read it over to see what the actual phrase was lol.
It was:
"I felt something like a thorn going into the arch of my foot."
Why do we hear things differently then others?
You could get a group of people together and have them all listen to the same speaker, then when asked what was talked about, you would most likely get a variety of different answers.
There are the over encompassing answers "They talked about Righteousness."
But if you ask people "What were your impressions, thoughts, what did you write down? What was important to you?"
Then different things come out.
Certain lines had alot of meaning for one person, but not so much for someone else.
Its just another confirmation.
We are not robots. :P lol
We think, understand, hear, and respond to things in different ways. Words and Phrases can be added or dropped depending on what the listener decides to 'tune into'
Why does one side of the argument hear something totally different then what the the other side meant?
Its tuning.
In one of my Business classes we talked about "I view" and "You view"
And how in sentences if the first part and last part of the sentence is more important then the middle of the sentence.
So if you say.
"I don't think you're understanding me."
The person will remember "I and me" more then "You." Which might put the person you're talking to on the defensive.
But if you do "There is a misunderstanding here." -where you aren't accusing the other person. Just stating fact, most likely they don't get offensive.
I've been told in this class.
"If its good news for them, emphasis the You more."
"If its bad news drop the You all together."
The I point of view talks about me.
The you point of view talks about them.
So even if you mean a phrase to be good....if worded in the wrong way. Focusing more on "me" then on "you" then its easy to understand why there are misunderstandings. What you're saying is making sense to you because you know your thoughts behind your sentence. The listener only gets the words. And has their own thoughts comprehending and decoding what you just said.
Soooo
There will be misunderstandings.
But its life. ;) We think different, we use our word choices differently, and we hear things differently based on our background story (culture, thoughts, schooling.)
You can't get mad at people for taking things in the wrong light. Emotions, Thoughts, Distractions make us miss, and catch, add and delete parts of what people are saying.
There will be misunderstandings.
Its life. :)
But it certainly is interesting to hear a person say what they thought they heard. :)

Guratenshar
It is time to tell.
:P
lol you have probably been wondering why whenever you come to this site you see
"Guratenshar Arcis Ankel"
Well, I shall tell you. :P
I am a writer.
I am working on writing a book.
And in this book, I tend to have 'foregin words.'
Since the main character is from a foreign country.
I needed a foreign language. ;)
So What does Guratenshar Arcis Ankel mean?
It means:
I humbly greet thee Protector of the People.
I figured that since it will get tedious to keep saying something along the lines of
"Why hello there! Welcome again to my site!"
I'd just make my greeting my title. Since, chances are more often then not likely that you'll see the title first before you see my latest post.

In a way I'm baring my soul....somewhat in a convoluted way...but you're finding out bits and pieces about me. So thanks again for visiting. :)

Protector of the People.
Now I bet you're wondering what Arcis Ankel has to do with you.
Well, do you not protect people?
Raising children, defending friends, family, coworkers? Giving advice, coming to a person in need? Doing your job so that other people have one less hassle (in most cases) to worry about?
Everyday you do something somehow to protect a person.
You are defending others. Protecting them.
Even if its just by going the speed limit.
Letting other people cut in front of you.
Saying Hi. Doing the dishes.
Its heartwarming to think that almost every little action you do, in some way you're protecting them.
By saying Hi you protect a person from the dark clouds of misery for a moment.
By doing the dishes you protect a person from grime, germs, potentially cutting themselves.
By going to your job everyday, or perhaps school you prepare to further protect people from harm that would have come about if you hadn't been there.
Hold your head up high Protectors.
You are helping others even if you don't realize it.
But start to realize. That you are Protectors.
You need to look out for the little guys, and the big guys.
Prevent the little guys from being beat up, beat down.
Protect the big guys from themselves. Remind them that they're human.
Remind them that they need to remain strong and not break down into tantrums. ;) lol.
Protect the People.
And if we are all protecting each other.
Then it won't seem as if you're the only one helping others.
Even if it looks like you are.
You aren't. You have help all around.

Sunshine
It burns.
It burns.
The light.
It burns.
My eyes.
The pain.
Oh no.

Have you ever wondered if people called "Vampires" couldn't go out into the light, into sunlight....
Because they couldn't see?
That the light is just too bright for their eyes.
So bright that their lids snap shut to protect the pupils or something?
I've been wondering this recently.
Because my eyes have been doing that.
It only really seems to happen when the sky is bright blue...hardly any pollution in the air.
The sun is shining nice and hot.
Its like my eyes just can't stand to be in brightness.
They water up. And try to shut.
I have to look at the ground. In order to be able to somewhat see.
Or I just have to stand there with my eyes close, waiting for the burning to fade.
But I can't look up...have my chin be parallel with the neck.
It does almost feel like my eyes are burning. and the air, the light exposing the eyeballs to that, makes it worse.
I've been told that at these times my eyes get really red as well.
Where they just burn and water up.
So maybe that's where the 'blood' idea came. The eyes were red!! lol :P
Its only been happening for a couple of months now.
But it sure gets annoying.
When its hard to put in your contacts.
Or look up to see if you can walk across the street.
Or actually drive. With the light so bright. (that was my problem today...really scary.)
But it only happens for a day or two it seems like. Then I'm perfectly fine again....hmmmm I wonder if the moon is full.....that would be interesting ;) haha
Maybe if they had had sunglasses back in Medieval times Vampires wouldn't have been a prevalent huh?
Protect their eyes from the bright light.
And walla they're fine ;) haha.

Headaches...Prayers...Chemicals?
My school was closed down today.
At least the buildings where I had classes.
There had been a leak of some sort.
Gas...Chemical...I'm not really sure.
Its kind of strange in a way.
I had awakened with a headache earlier today
Never a fun thing.
Almost always I consider staying in bed and letting it go away.
But I'm Stubborn lol.
If I want to go something, really want to go....I go....most of the time. lol :)
Today I wanted to defiantly go to school....
at least the Institute Devotional. (You can't miss John Bytheway!)
So I did my best, hoping that my headache would go away and that I could focus.
Hope, Meds, Prayers..... lol.
:) my prayers were mostly along the lines of "Help me, make it go away, so I can go to thy place of worship and do school and such, help me to get through the day." lol
It worked......but in a way I didn't expect.
Who ever expects school to be closed, and classes cancelled because of a Chemical Leak?
But hey, it saved me from having to try and focus my eyes....which weren't focusing that well today....which is bad in my major lol. (and I got to hear John Bytheway! yes!) I'm grateful for this blessing lol ^^

Chicken Enchilada Chili
There is a favorite place of mine, where I've only ever bought one thing.
And that one thing is
Chicken Enchilada Chili
yummy yummy ^^ its sooo GOOD!! lol :)
I only go to the place every now and then.
-Not often enough to get sick of the C.E.C
So I've as of yet haven't had a reason to try something else lol :)
The place?
Its called Zupas.
Its a Sandwich/Salad/Soup place (and has desert too!)
And its servicing style is like a cross between a restaurant and subway.
Where you can pick your food toppings but they bus your tables for you. :)
I first discovered Zupas at basically my first year here via my favorite roommate :)
Me, she, and another friend had crashed at the bishoprics house.
(I think we had been kicked out of the apartments (contracts were up) and were looking for a place to stay, so we crashed at the bishops house when it was only the wife home.)
We'd gone to see a movie and then decided to grab dinner afterwards.
The place chosen by the friend and roomie?
Zupas.
Now having never been there before....
I had no idea what to expect.
So I looked on the vast menu for something sounding good.
And I came across
Chicken Enchilada Chili.
Now,
I like chili, I like enchiladas....wasn't so sure about the chicken, but I decided to try it anyway.
AND IT WAS AWESOMELYFANTABULARLYSPECTACULAR!!
^^ oooo!!!
my tastes buds dance happily whenever I eat it lol.
That first time i made the mistake of adding in cornchipstrips to the bowl, but since that time its just the C.E.C with cheese. :) lol.
Its sooooo yummy good I do my best to get every single drop out of the bowl and into my mouth lol.
And i haven't mentioned the cooler parts yet!
With each bowl of soup (always order half a bowl, the full bowl is big enough for two people)
(or each meal you get.....since you can choose a variety of sandwiches, salads, other soups, and combinations of all three)
You also get some bread....
And Chocolate covered Strawberries!!!
^^ Always the sweetest part lol :)
I save it for last to finish a delectable meal. lol
Another one of my friends eats the Strawberry first....that way if he dies before the meal is over....he at least ate the best part lol.
Its understandable logic.
But man, the C.E.C is heaven sooo the Strawberry is like....Glory in Heaven or whatever,
So its all good man, its alll good lol ^^
So I really highly jumping up and down, recommend if you have a Friday night free and you want to go out, to go find the nearest Zupas you can and try it out. (if you don't live near one.....I'm so so so so sorry Y_Y)
-Its not that expensive of a place either. (unless you want a drink) you can get most meals for under $5 at least the half bowl of soup plus drink plus bread plus strawberry is aprox.$6 and change. :)
I don't think anybody I've taken there (or suggested the place to) has been disappointed yet :D
(and don't you be the first!!! ya hear?! Its good!! ;) lol)
