I'm half convinced that there is a correlation between Starsmet and LeVille now.
Why?
Well, LeVille is where I live.
And I work at Starsmet.
A little bit ago I moved to LeVille, you know a change of scene and such.
Imagine my surprise when one day a couple of months ago,
I ran into one of my coworkers down in the courtyard.
O.O
I was like "What are you doing here?!"
"I live here. What are you doing here?"
"I live here too!"
Crazy. lol
I never expected it to happen. To have coworkers living in the same complex as me.
Yet it happened.
Then a couple of days ago I found out another thing.
Our newest hire at Starsmet....
Also lives at LeVille!
O.O
Once is cool, but twice? TWICE?
I have to look over my shoulder and wonder, are there more future Starsmet people wandering around these halls? lol.
I mean we only need to hire a couple more people or so to get one Starsmet employee on every floor of the complex. lol.
Now that would be cool.
And if we got enough of us living there, a carpool might actually be possible to set up!
lol for now though, it's not going to happen. Our schedules don't work together. :( Sad day.
Still it can't be a coincidence...I wonder what forces are at work here. :)

I'll be watching the leaves.

The Dream
There was a bomb placed in a car, and I had to figure out where the trigger was in the car and disarm it before it exploded. I'd gone to the local law enforcement, but they'd waved me off as a crazy person and didn't want to get involved. But they needed to be. The car was in a church parking lot with a lot of people there and if I didn't find it...Boom. The people would be gone. I couldn't find it right away and took the opportunity to rescue a bunch of animals that were in the back of the car Hamsters, Snakes, Geckos etc. Only I was having a difficult time carrying them all, so I tried to place two snakes -a corn and a ball python- in one container together. Only..the ball python bit the head off of the corn snake. That was totally devastating for me, but I didn't have time to dwell on it as one of my helpers called out that he'd found the trigger. And at that same moment I found another quarter sized trigger pad among the animals in the cage I had. I looked up and there were the bald bad guys in suits and one of them...pressed a button. From the middle of the intersection by the local gas station near my parents home shot out of the ground and into the air. Pieces of it shot off and exploded like fireworks into the sky, so for a brief moment...I thought that was it, but then I realized it was going to fall back to the ground and explode. So I yelled for everyone to take cover and grabbed another person, diving behind a low wall by the church as the wad of dynamite sticks exploded like an atomic bomb and it sent a wave of fire and heat our way. I felt the heat on my skin burning, and I wondered if I would actually be able to survive this. I heard a man say that his two kids survived the explosion....
but then the unholy tones of daylight pulled me away....
and I became myself again. :)

Shadowed
It's odd having a shadow.
I mean, not the thing that the sun makes when it shines on you.
But a person as a shadow.
Someone shadowing you at work.
Following you around and such.
I had that today.
A new hire shadowed me today.
Apparently there's a difference between shadowing and...training.
I was told the new hire would be shadowing me today.
And I took that to mean training the new hire.
I mean...telling them what to do, showing them how the department works.
Apparently, shadowing means...following the person around and not doing much beyond watching.
Rather boring. In my mind.
Soo I ended up doing a combination of both.
Teaching and just letting them follow me around being my shadow.
And when I say teaching I mean....I rattle off different bits of information as I help other customers.
Like "These fish are easier to catch if there's a lot of them." or "Here's where you can find the pamphlets to give to the customer" etc. I mean, it's more interesting to learn then to watch and wonder what you're supposed to be learning.
I don't know how well I did at letting the new hire shadow me for six hours.
I just know that I talked waaaay more then I usually do. Even when there's a lot of customers in the store.
Lol hopefully something stuck. :)

I'ma Crossin Here
Well, I had an almost heart stopping moment today.
I say almost as...I'm still trying to process what happened beyond the brief thought of AHH! I had.
You see, I'd just gotten gas for my car as I was pretty much running on empty.
And I was waiting to make a left turn.
This left turn...involving crossing like three lanes of traffic.
I saw a brief space.
Looked quickly to make sure I was clear.
And gunned it to cross into the lane I needed to be in.
Only I only made it through one lane before I heard something...I'm not even sure I heard the yelling til after I looked up. Or as I looked up.
In any case I looked up and there were these two guys on bikes coming straight at me.
The first guy whizzed on by...maybe on a normal bike? It was fast...so a sort of motorcycle...idk I didn't see....as I hit the brakes. With the second guy barely, barely missing the hood of my car going past on the right, his mouth open...idk if it was a scream of terror or adrenaline as he went past me on my left on his little mortorized scooter, but he went by me unharmed, presumably both of them going into the parking lot I had just been trying to exit.
I glanced to my left and saw that the cars I'd been trying to avoid had kinda slowed down, but I pressed on the gas anyways to get out of their way and continued into my lane and on to the nearby light.
After all, I hadn't hit them. And glancing in my mirrors...I couldn't see them anywhere.
Which made me wonder.
WHERE DID THEY EVEN COME FROM?!!?!
Seriously. They came right at me. and I was going perpendicular to the road. So they were going perpendicular too...where there was no place to go perpendicular. I mean, the Library was across from me, but where I was crossing...there wasn't an exit to the parking lot across from me. It was just a green patch.
But the guys were on scooter/bikes. Had they just driven over the grass hill and sidewalk to cross the road?
Because seriously, until they were literally right there nearly hitting me...I didn't see them. They weren't on the road when I began to cross. There were two cars coming at me from the left, a van waay down the road on the right. And no boys on bikes.
Which only leads me to conclude that they did cross the grass barrier to cross the road during a space in traffic.
How else can they come straight at me as I was trying to turn?
No idea, unless I encountered a ghostly mirage or something. A moment in time.
In any case. They're fine (I would assume since they didn't stop, or fall off their bikes.) I'm fine, if a bit startled.
And we're all probably breathing a little faster in the "Icouldajustbeeninanaccident!" Sort of way.
Oh and my car is fine too. :)
Who knows...how that almost accident almost happened.
I just hope another occurrence doesn't occur anytime soon. O.o

Others May Have It Harder
At times, the Lord needs a little help to assist some as to the validity of this truth.
I recall when I served as chairman of the Church Missionary Committee that I received a telephone call from a member of the presidency of the Missionary Training Center at Provo, Utah.
He advised me that a particular young man called to a Spanish-speaking mission was having difficulty applying himself to his language study and had declared, "I never can learn Spanish!"
The leader asked, "What do you recommend we do?"
I thought for a moment, then suggested, "Place him tomorrow as an observer in a class of missionaries struggling to learn Japanese, and then advise me his reaction."
My caller responded within 24 hours with the report, "The missionary was only in the Japanese language class one-half day when he called me and excitedly said, 'Place me back in the Spanish class! I know I can learn that language.'"
And he did.
While the formal classroom may be intimidating at times, some of the most effective teaching and learning takes place other than in the chapel or the classroom.

VP Missout :(
The internet has failed me. Especially YouTube.
Why?
Well, this past week I had a couple of night shifts.
Only on like the most exciting days of the week.
When BYU's Vocal Point had a couple of concerts.
Totally typical of work, they usually schedule me whenever anything 'fun' happens around here. Even when I don't know that the 'fun' is going to happen yet. >.>
In any case. They for some reason decided to only to do evening concerts. :(
So even if I could have managed it...there was no Matinee option for me. :(
But hey.
No big deal.
I thought.
Someone will record it.
I thought.
I mean, last time I went I recorded it and other people recorded it. So therefore someone will record it so I can watch it....
So I thought. >.<
But it's been a few days now. :(
And nothing. Nothing at all that I can find. *sobs*
There's not even the totallymissingthepoint blog to go to for a play by play readout.
Because unfortunately they've been totally missing from the blogosphere for over six months now. Y_Y
I wonder what happened to those guys...... Hmmmm I hope they're okay.
In any case.
There was a vocal point concert......
and I have no video whatsoever to soothe my inner angst at missing it. *sighs*
Here's to keeping my fingers crossed that something will show up soon....
Hopefully.

We Can Watch It Again, Seriously.
My roommates think I'm weird.
Why?
Because I don't mind watching the same movie over and over again.
Sometimes all in a row.
But hey, when you put in a movie and it automatically replays after a certain period of time, and you don't change it because you're using it for background noise...it doesn't really matter right?
Apparently so.
I think my roomies go along more of the lines of my sister.
Where she can watch a movie once, and be good for at least a week (or longer) without having to see it again.
In any case.
The other night, one was like "Hey have you watched this movie?"
And my other roomie was like "Yah, she's watched it twice already."
And I was like "Well...we can watch it again, I really don't mind."
I mean, if I like a movie, and you see me watch it more then once...then I think it would mean that I really don't mind watching it more then once.
Seriously, if it's a 'one time for a bit movie' then you'd know.
If it's not, I can watch it again and again.
And I really don't mind. I like watching movies I love with people who haven't seen it (or seen it recently) as I enjoy hearing/seeing their reactions to things that happen in the movie. It's just as entertaining for me and makes the movie even more enjoyable. :)
In any case...I think I'm going to go put on one of those movies that I've already seen a lot. ;) hehe.

The Dream
It was like a little house in the prairie setting, where me and another family were out in the middle of nowhere eking out a living by mining in a nearby mine shaft. But there was this 'bad' family that was making life super difficult for us, and they ended up having a grudge against me for some reason...I think it was because I snuck into the mine to see what they were doing and they nearly caught me and they didn't want me to reveal what I found, but luckily my neighbors and my family were willing to hide me. I squished into this small room with the parents and a sibling and we hid out there. The big bearded man's unfortunate looking daughter came and peeked into the room, but I was on the side of the door that wasn't quite as visible as the other side and for some reason she didn't look fully into the room and find me. Though she did try to peer through the cracks to make sure that there weren't more then three people in our tiny space. I managed to fool her by lifting my feet up off the ground. the bearded man came and peered into the door as well, but didn't look my direction. We ended up having a competition where we threw disks at a tree holding tatters of cloth with the goal to try and knock the cloth off. My best friend with darker skin managed to do so to the surprise of the bearded man. For he's rigged it so the cloth wouldn't fall down and he would win. once it was discovered that he had cheated he lost the game and him and his family had to move out and leave us in peace. The family that helped us took the larger side of our two sided home where that other family had been living as they needed more room then our family though that side had been trashed and needed to be fixed up badly. We tried to convince them otherwise but they were insistent.....
then the unholy tones of daylight pulled me away....
and I became myself again. :)

- The Lord is watching over his Kingdom. He is inspiring its leadership to care fore its ever-growing membership.
Boyd K. Packer -Washed Clean
- I have long believed that the study of the doctrines of the gospel will improve behavior quicker than talking about behavior will improve behavior.
- I learned that when I didn't live as I ought to, getting myself spiritually clean was not as easy as taking a shower or putting on clean clothing or falling out of a canoe.
- You, by nature, are good. How many times have you heard someone say, after doing some generous or heroic deed or simply helping others, how good it made them feel? Like any natural feeling or emotion, that reaction is inborn in you. Surely you have experienced that yourself! Happiness is inseparably connected with decent, clean behavior.
- Doctrine can change behavior quicker than talking about behavior will.
- I say to you again that a knowledge of the principles and doctrines of the gospel will affect your behavior more than talking about behavior.
- Something I have heard President Hinckley do many times publicly is to give all the glory, the praise, and the honor to God. This is something I am going to do more often.
- Uncertainty as to our longevity is one of life's basic realities for all of us. Hence, you and I should importune in faith for the blessings we deeply desire, but then be "content with the things which the Lord hath allotted unto [us]". Clearly our individual exit routes from this life vary; so does the timing.
- Those who emerge successfully from their varied and fiery furnaces have experienced the grace of the Lord, which He says is sufficient. Even so, brothers and sisters, such emerging individuals do not rush to line up in front of another fiery furnace in order to get an extra turn!
- I speak to all parents and every adult member of the Church and invite all to unite in caring for the souls of children.
- The dangers threatening the lives of our families do not retreat.
- Do I leave my children exposed to danger when my example is not the same as my words or when I don't share my love in such a way that each child feels it deeply?
- Our Father has blessings and eternal rewards available for each of His children, whether they are married or single, parents or childless.
- "You need more than your own wisdom in rearing [your children]. You need the help of the Lord. Pray for that help and follow the inspiration which you receive."
- Fathers, control your tempers, now and in all the years to come. Mothers, control your voices, keep them down. Rear your children in love, I the nurture and admonition of the Lord.
- I challenge you to stand for that which is right and true and good.
- Do we, indeed, actually live the gospel, or do we just manifest the appearance of righteousness so that those around us assume we are faithful when, in reality, our hearts and unseen actions are not true to the Lord's teachings?
- The Lord has made it clear that He will not be fooled by appearances, and He has warned us not to be false to Him or to others. He has cautioned us to be wary of those who project a false front, who put on a bright pretense that hides a darker reality. We know that the Lord "looketh on the heart" and not on the "outward appearance."
- "A double minded man is unstable in all his ways."
- President Marion G. Romney wisely observed that there are too many of us "who try to serve the Lord without offending the devil."
- Worthiness interviews are conducted in a spirit of loving concern for each son and daughter of a loving God. These interviews represent the rehearsal stage for final judgment. Such interviews are a blessing, a choice opportunity to account to the Lord through His authorized servants for the sacred stewardship we all have to "watch [ourselves], and [our] thoughts, and [our] words, and [our] deeds."
- Worthiness interviews, sacrament meetings, temple attendance, and other Church meetings are all part of the plan that the Lord provides to educate our souls, to help us develop the healthy habit of constantly checking our bearings to stay on the path of faith. Regular spiritual "checkups" help us navigate life's highway and byways.
- The deepest questions of our existence are answered in the temple.
- This life makes no logical sense unless we think in terms of the eternities.
- A basic eternal truth of this Church is that families may, if they are worthy, have an eternal relationship; for us it would not be heaven without our parents, our grandparents, our eternal companions, our children, and our posterity.
- Within the hallowed walls of the temples, there is no preference of position, wealth, status, race, or education. All dress in white. All receive the same instruction. All make the same covenants and promises. All receive the same transcendent, eternal blessings if they live worthy to claim them. All are equal before their Creator.
- As the pioneers had the larger vision in their daily challenge for survival, so also we need to have a greater vision and understanding of our eternal destiny. Our challenges are more subtle but equally hard. Maintaining our spiritual strength is also a daily challenge. The greatest source of that spiritual strength comes, as it did in their time, from our temples.
I'll be watching the leaves.
Enjoy the day!
