My managers were stressing today at work.
Mostly because they've been trying to get the store ready for yet another visit from someone higher up in the manager chain of command.
This time around the visit involves our Regional Manager.
Which apparently they divide the country in half.
And one Regional Manager takes the West side and the other one takes the East side.
And they just travel from store to store to store checking out things each year.
Their visits are less common to the stores as we only see them like...around every three to four years or so.
This visit they're going to be visiting half the stores in my state for sure.
Leaving the remaining half on alert just in case the RM decides to randomly stop by.
Unfortunately (fortunately?) for my store....we're first on the docket tomorrow to be visited.
I'm hoping their visit isn't longer than an hour or two.
But who's to know for sure.
In any case they're supposed to be showing up first thing in the morning.
But it's not going to be just the RM visiting our store.
Of course we expected our District Manager to be there as they're usually the one who takes the higher ups all around their district to the stores that are being visited.
But today my Head Manager was telling me that there's literally going to be like a dozen people descending on our store tomorrow morning.
The DM and their Boss along with the RM and then like the VP of pricing and the VP of merchandising, and like four other people were mentioned who's duties I don't remember.
but basically we're going to have a mob of 'important' people in the store tomorrow.
*exhales*
So of course everyone is stressing out.
Hopefully this visit is quick and painless.
But needless to say, I tried to help out where I could to ease the stress my managers were feeling.
Mostly in that I stayed an hour late at work applying shoe polish to the black baseboards at the bottom of our fishwall to make them look nicer, and then applied some sort of chemical thing to our feeder goldfish walls (the outside glass not inside the glass) to scrub away the hard water stains there and make them look nicer.
As the RM is basically wanting the store to be at 'opening day' standards. Like. How the store should look on it's very first day of ever being opened.
Which...considering my store is probably as old as dirt....
It's hard to get the old place looking new again.
Still.
I hope we make a good impression.
I'm pretty sure we will, we've done good so far on other visits, so I don't expect there to be any major issues tomorrow either.
but we'll see I suppose.

I'll be watching the leaves.

Almost On Time
The building was dark when my roomies and I arrived at church today.
Which...was unexpected.
Because like...multiple wards meet in our building all around the same time.
So the lights should have been on from earlier wards being inside.
But it was dark and silent.
So I got online.
To check the ward page and announcements.
To see if there had been a post about a different time change or a stake conference or something.
And yah.
In the weekly announcements it was announced that we'd be having a Special Stake Conference today.
*exhales*
But that was a week ago that post had been made.
I had to scroll a bit to find it.
And usually for these sorts of things.
Multiple posts are made.
To remind people.
That didn't happen.
So someone dropped the ball there.
*exhales*
But yah.
We had actually arrived to church ten minutes early too.
But because of the special conference, we were an hour and a half late.
Which meant by the time we got to the building where the conference was being held...it would be ending.
So my roomies and I ended up just coming back home instead and just having a rest day.
*shakes head*
Ah well.
At least we tried to be to church on time. ^^;;
Until you next see these words;
I'll be watching the leaves.

Back Again
*groans*
I was hoping that we'd seen the last of him.
Because well I haven't encountered the lizard guy aka the snake killer customer in like nearly two months I feel like.
Not since my head manager told him that we would no longer be replacing his lightbulbs that he kept breaking every week or so.
Though I had heard that he'd come in a time or two to get crickets.
I was hoping we'd seen the last of him.
But No.
He came into the store today.
Which sucks.
Because he's such a needy customer.
And with the ending of Halloween.
It seems like the switch has been flipped and all the holiday shoppers are emerging from their slumber to descend upon the store.
So it was busy.
Like three registers running most of the day busy.
So to have this particular customer come in in the middle of that is....annoying.
As he always takes like an hour to be helped.
Always asks difficult questions.
Always causes some sort of problem at the register.
And I was the 'lucky one' who had to deal with him today.
They'd come into the store to look at the reptiles again.
Because it was the kid's birthday.
And they were trying to decide if the boy should get a chinese water dragon or a pacman frog.
Knowing how big chinese water dragons can get, I directed them to the pacman frog instead.
In any case.
It was a case of run around again with the customer with them deciding to get the pacman but also another green tree frog (in separate cages)
But also they needed help deciding on yet another new cage.
-Which hopefully works well for them and doesn't cause complications because that seems to be like half the dude's struggle with things is things not 'working' how he wants them to.
And then it was talking lightbulbs and backgrounds and bedding and bugs. *exhales*
It's quite the run around and I ended up having to ring him up at the register too.
Just...
Gah.
It was frustrating.
And I just wanted to get the dude out of the store and out of all our hair as we were trying to help all the other customers in the store as well.
At least it wasn't as crazy of a run around with this particular customer this time around.
but still.
I really hope my encounters with him are far and few inbetween.
Until you next read these words;
I'll be watching the leaves.
Enjoy the day!

Teeth Decay
I don't like going to the dentist.
Despite my best efforts, I usually always end up with a major headache/migraine the same day or the day after my visit.
Today was a day after sort of thing.
Because I went to the dentist after work yesterday.
So that was...well 'fun'.
Not.
A full stressful day of training at work followed by a visit to the dentist?
Yah not at all surprising that I ended up with a migraine today.
My body probably got super stressed from it all.
*exhales*
In any case.
I went to the dentist yesterday to get a cavity fixed.
Because last week when I'd had a filling fall out and they went to fix it then...they discovered that the cavity had gone deep.
Basically to the root canal.
And if the dentist wasn't careful removing the cavity.
I would need a root canal.
They didn't have the 'time' last week to try and tackle this undertaking.
Which makes sense since they took like an entire hour yesterday to carefully drill and do whatever else they do to get all the cavity/bacteria away from the tooth.
So I spent like a week avoiding chewing on that side as there was an annoying temporary clay like filling in my mouth that could easily fall out if it I chewed on it wrong.
*exhales*
So.
Annoying.
So.
Very.
Annoying.
And stressful.
In any case.
I spent like an hour at the dentist yesterday.
To get the cavity out.
Which thankfully they managed to get it out without me needing a root canal.
Unfortunately I do need to get a crown. XP Bleh.
Yay more money for teeth.
But it was a stressful hour for me.
Because they had to go slowly.
They used a drill that spun at slower speeds.
But slower speeds meant that there was a lot more vibrating of my teeth.
Like a jackhammer chiseling around in my mouth.
It felt like at any moment all my teeth would just be gone if the drill moved wrong.
Even though that wasn't likely to happen.
It sure felt that way.
But yah.
Yay no root canal.
But the dentist did a great job of stressing me out anyways.
Saying that my teeth are really 'soft' and that she's worried i'll need multiple root canals, crowns, implaints within like the next three years if they don't take 'drastic' action and do all they can to try and get my teeth harder.
Which basically means a fluoride toothpaste.
But they also want me to come in to do fluoride treatments every three to four months.
And at one point the dentist even wanted me to sleep with a fluoride tray in my mouth at night.
Ha.
Ah.
Ha.
No.
Not doing anything in my mouth at night.
I'm too restless of a sleeper for that.
Plus I have a bit of a gag reflex.
So yah no.
But it definitely worked it's magic to stress me out. XP
Because the dentist was making it sound like that at any moment my teeth could crack and break and I'd have a mouth full of pain.
Not great to tell a person who's not been emotionally stable all month because of my Mom's angelversary fast approaching.
*exhales*
Yah.
I don't like the dentist.
They always make it sound like I should never eat or drink anything ever again in order to keep my teeth from having problems.
XP
So it's no surprise I ended up with a major migraine today.
All the stress.
Plus the stupid needles from the anesthetic have made the gum area super sore.
So out of everything that's what aches the most.
My gum where the needle pierced it. XP
Yah.
I don't like the denist.
Not at all.
Until you next see these words;
I'll be watching the leaves.
Enjoy the day!

Training the Greenie
It's that time of year for training.
As I spent most of the morning today training a new coworker on how to open up the department and basically acting like a fire hydrant spouting off as much information as I could in the short window of time I had with them so that they would be able to work in the department and such and be able to interact with customers.
Because in all likelihood I'm not going to be working with them much in the future.
As I tend to do the morning shifts.
And from how my coworker was talking, they'll be working mostly night shifts.
Which means that if we do see each other it will basically be for the 'changing of the guard' as I'll be leaving while they're arriving.
So I did what I could to tell them as much as possible in like the four hours I had them with me.
Which...unfortunately meant that I ended up falling waaaay behind in my opening tasks.
As there's only so much I can do while trying to teach and open at the same time.
And while I did show them the basic opening procedures and such.
I also needed to show them how to bag crickets and catch fish and tell them about care of a bunch of different animals....
So by the time my new coworker left...
It was the lunch hour.
And we got hit by a rush.
And I hadn't done the bedding change of the day yet.
*exhales*
And with only a couple of hours left in my shift.
I ended up forgoing the bedding change to try and catch up on the rest of opening tasks.
Namely the fish tank stuff.
I didn't reach the fish tank stuff.
I did mostly finish receiving in the bugs.
But I kept getting pulled away by customers.
So yah.
It was frustrating to not get opening done.
But hopefully I gave enough information to my coworker that they'll be able to have a bit of confidence in helping out customers in the future.
Guess we'll see.
Until you next read these words;
I'll be watching the leaves.

Isolated Again
>_<
It seems like there's something going on with my fishtank.
Which shouldn't be a surprise.
Honestly I feel like whenever I add in new fish I end up having some sort of issue come up.
And I did add in like a dozen fish like a week ago.
Sooo it makes sense that my tank would be experiencing problems.
Thankfully.
I have this handy little iso tank currently set up.
Which means that when I see problem fish I can move them over to that tank.
And not have to worry about treating the big tank.
Which is what I had to do today.
When I noticed that one of my other goldfish....had one eye that was bigger than the other.
Bleh. Popeye.
Another one that's not easy to treat in my tank.
And points to there being something off in my big tank.
So when I have time, and the weather gets slightly warmer.
I definitely need to do a water change.
Probably fifty percent.
But I have to wait.
As my angelfish just laid eggs.
And therefore I need to see how they do before I disturb the tank by draining a quarter to half of the tank.
So the waiting game it is.
But for now.
The goldfish with popeye has joined my other oranda with the injuries in the smaller tank.
Hopefully no more fish fall ill.
I don't think a ten gallon will do well for long with any more fish added to it.
Thankfully my oranda is already appearing to be healing.
So hopefully it's more like a couple of weeks being in the iso tank instead of a month or two. :S
We'll see.
Until you next see these words;
I'll be watching the leaves.
Enjoy the day!

You're Still Here?!
Had a customer come up to me and my manager as I was updating them on things that had happened in the department and what still needed to be completed opening wise before I clocked out for the day.
And the customer, who probably recognized me better than my manager as I've been around longer was like "Can you help me?"
To which my manager quickly responded "She's off right now, but I can help you."
To which the customer was like "If you're off then why are you still here?!"
O.o
Well...for one, I hadn't clocked out yet, that's where I was heading before the customer interrupted me and my manager's conversation.
For two....it's not like once I clock out I just immediately teleport out of the store and vanish.
I have to gather all my things and like walk out of the store to my car.
*shakes head*
Such an odd expectation.
Like yes...it's weird to be hanging out at work when you're not on the clock.
I try to do so as rarely as possible.
But like. You gotta give me some time to get out of the store after clocking out before questioning why I'm still at work.
*shakes head*
Until you next read these words;
I'll be watching the leaves.
