So there I was, minding my own business.
Napping on the couch in the living room.
Cus I do that on occasion.
And like, I was all snuggled up comfy like, having pulled the blanket off the back of the couch to curl up under.
And like...I'd just woken up, had pulled up my laptop to scroll through the internet.
When I see movement from the corner of my eye.
I look up.
And there on the back of the couch, nearly above my head IS THIS GIANT SPIDER!!
Okay, so it was probably nickel sized Maybe even Quarter sized.
Which for Spiders is LARGE.
And it was big and grey and moving and AHHHH
Needless to say I was off that couch in the blink of an eye. Thankfully my laptop stayed on the couch, though my phone took a bit of a flying tumble.
And the spider like...freaked out.
And darted across the back of the couch and down....disappearing into the crack between cushion and back of the couch. Vanishing into the void like it had never been.
And honestly...I wasn't sure it had been there in the first place.
Like it had happened so quickly.
Did I imagine it?
Or was the spider there?
Hiding in the couch cushions now?
I hesitantly pulled away the pillow the spider had vanished behind.
To not see it there.
Confirming that if it was there...it had vanished into the crack.
And no way was I going to try and move the cushions out of the way to try and find the spider.
It was vanished.
Who knew where it went.
So....
I moved to the other couch we have in the same room.
Where I recommenced my laptop surfing....
Until my laptop gave me the notification.
My battery was low.
So I needed to go grab my power cord.
The problem?
The outlet to plug the cord into....
was BEHIND the couch where the spider had vanished into the gap between the cushions. :S
AHHH.
And normally to reach the outlet I just kneel on the couch and reach down behind the couch to the outlet there.
But no, there was a spider somewhere among those cushions.
No way was I risking myself like that.
So I did the next best thing.
I slid/pulled the couch out of the way to reach the outlet.
And successfully plugged in my power cord without any sign of the spider emerging from it's cushiony depths.
SUCCESS!!
However, I needed to move the couch back into its spot.
And that's when it appeared.
Rising out of the depths of the cushions like an angry leviathan disturbed from it's slumber the Giant Spider emerged!!!
AHHHHHH
It stood there on the back of the couch, all proud and angry like.
And I was like. ()_() AHHHHHH
But me. Being me.
I'm like. Well. You're out!
Let's see if I can get you out before you disappear again.
So I grabbed a jar and placed it over the spider.
And successfully captured the creepy creature.
Who then got a nice walk to the front door.
And a great view of the bushes and sidewalk as I tossed it out of the jar.
(Wonder how the spider felt to briefly fly...)
Banishing the creature to the outdoors.
Where it hopefully will remain.
>.<
Cus I don't like spiders that disturb me in my relaxed state.
*shakes head*
Gotta say that was quite the way to get myself fully awake though lol.

Another One Gone
Ever have those head banging moments.
Where you're just like. "WHY?!"
Those moments where you finally feeling like you're treading water and will be able to survive until you find a life raft or shallow water or something and you're not drowning?
Only for that measure of control to get shoved back at you?
Yah.
Kinda how I'm feeling at the moment.
It's work.
*exhales*
When is it not work?
So like...what two months ago now? Back in December, we had two coworkers quit in my department leaving us short handed.
And yah...we're still working on replacing them. And it's FEBRUARY. Gah.
Then like two or three weeks ago? The managers gave me the heads up that a third coworker in my department was intending to quit. As soon as they found another job.
Which, oh joy. Three people short.
But so far...that particular coworker hasn't quit.
And a couple of days ago, I was introduced to a new hire. For Petcare!
So like, I'd only be short one person once our greenie goes through all the training and certifications and such.
So like, we were finally getting some headway in the current.....
And then today happened.
Not sure what happened today, as I wasn't actually at work.
But I got notified that a different coworker. (so technically the 4th one)
Quit today.
Yah.
Out of the blue.
Just up and quit.
Like. "Hi, I found another job elsewhere so I'm going to go work there now, bye!" sort of quit.
Not even a two weeks notice. >.<
Luckily, they didn't have any other shifts scheduled this week, so we don't have to worry about covering those. Which is a blessing because I literally do not have the coverage to do so.
We're barely covering shifts as is because I am two people short (now 3) and we're only managing to cover by bringing in people who aren't normally in my department to work in the dept. *exhales* Which has it's own set of problems to be sure.
But that's not the focus.
The focus is the fact that another coworker just. Quit.
Can I tell you how much I hate that?
A lot.
Like. Why would you do that?
Do you know how many times we've been left in a lurch because someone didn't have any consideration and chose not to give the two weeks notice and just leave?
A lot.
And I hate it.
Like...where's the respect? Where's the consideration? You worked with us for a while and you just up and leave us? Just like that?
*exhales*
I mean...I can get that there are circumstances where you need to do just that. Quit. I get it.
Still doesn't mean I like it.
I like there being notice. I like being given the heads up.
Because like...I have to now work out all the problems and plan for training new people, and for covering shifts, and all this crazy when that happens.
*exhales*
Yah....this is stress I really didn't want.
*double exhales* This is going to be fun....
Until you next see these words;
I'll be watching the leaves.
Enjoy the day!

October 2017 General Conference -Sunday Morning Session
Jean B. Bingham -That Your Joy Might Be Full
- The more we learn about, have faith in, and emulate Jesus Christ, the more we come to understand that He is the source of all healing, peace, and eternal progress.
- Sometimes we are afraid to trust because we don't understand God's absolute love and desire to help us.
- When we exercise faith and humbly open ourselves to Their answers, we become free from the constraints of our misunderstandings and assumptions, and we can be shown the way forward.
- Despite a world that will try to knock us down to the level of "mere animals," knowing that God is our Father assures us that we have divine potential and royal promise.
Donald L. Hallstrom -Has the Day of Miracles Ceased?
- Faith in the Father and the Son allows us to understand and accept Their will as we prepare for eternity.
David A. Bednar -Exceeding Great and Precious Promises
- One of the great challenges each of us faces every day is to not allow the concerns of this world to so dominate our time and energy that we neglect the eternal things that matter most.
- Sometimes we try to run so fast that we may forget where we are going and why we are running.
W. Christopher Waddell -Turn to the Lord
- In this mortal experience, we cannot control all that happens to us, but we have absolute control over how we respond to the changes in our lives.
- Healing blessings come in many ways, each suited to our individual needs, as known to Him who loves us best.
- Dealing with the challenges of life is not about ignoring reality but rather where we choose to focus and the foundation upon which we choose to build.
W. Craig Zwick -Lord, Wilt Thou Cause That My Eyes May Be Opened
- To look beyond what we see, we must look at others through the eyes of our Savior.
- We must look past the easy assumptions and stereotypes and widen the tiny lens of our own experience.
- We live in a world that feeds on comparisons, labeling, and criticism. Instead of seeing through the lens of social media, we need to look inward for the godly attributes to which we each lay claim.
- To accept and love others does not mean we must embrace their ideas.
- Truly loving others requires the ongoing practice of accepting the best efforts of people whose life experiences and limitations we may never fully know.
- Remember to put Jesus Christ at the center of your life today.
Henry B. Eyring -Fear Not to Do Good
- Fear not to do good, my sons, for whatsoever ye sow, that shall ye also reap therefore, if ye sow good ye shall also reap good for your reward.
- Look unto me in every thought; doubt not, fear not.
- A man filled with the love of God, is not content with blessing his family alone, but ranges through the whole world, anxious to bless the whole human race.
- Our hearts, however, remain changed only as long as we continue to follow the prophet's counsel. If we stop trying after one burst of effort, the change will fade.
- Sometimes you will be the angel the Lord sends to bear others up. Sometimes you will be the one surrounded by angels who bear you up. But always you will have His Spirit to be in your heart.
Until you next read these words;
I'll be watching the leaves.

Sudden Appearances
Okay, Spiders are creepy.
Especially with their little habit of APPEARING WHERE YOU LEAST EXPECT THEM TO BE!
Gah.
So last night, my roomie was getting ready for bed.
Doing the whole night routine and such.
When I hear a scream.
And I'm like. O.o "Are you okay?"
Nope, no she wasn't.
Why?
Because she had been using a hand towel. To you know, wash her hands, remove her makeup, etc etc.
And she had just picked it up again. To wash her face.
When she noticed the dark red spot on the towel.
Like...without contacts in things can look weird.
So she thought originally that the spot was a bit of makeup.
But as she pulled the towel closer to her face to investigate.
It moved.
THERE WAS A SPIDER ON HER TOWEL!!
AHHHH
Like it's creepy enough that she was going to place that towel on her face and such.
But like...she'd been using it before she noticed the spider.
How long was the spider on the towel!?
Who knows.
But when we went to investigate the hand towel to see if the spider was there.
It had vanished.
Like spiders do.
We looked around for it.
But saw nothing.
So I kinda put it in from my mind.
...though I'm going to be wary about entering the bathroom from here on out.
Who knows where that spider may be lurking.
And good thing I was wary.
Because today.
I was in the bathroom.
About to take a shower.
And as I pulled back the curtain to get into the tub....
I saw it.
A SPIDER!!
Like...dude why are you in the bathtub?! HOW did you even get in there?
Because really, I feel like tubs should be antispider. The white sides should be unclimbable for those creepy crawlies.
But in any case.
SPIDER IN THE TUB!!!
AHHHH!!!!!
That one I caught and gently put outside.
As I really didn't want it to be a companion with me at all while I was washing my hair. :S
Nope.
I'm good Mr. Spider.
Don't need a guardian to do that.
*shakes head*
But I do have to wonder why the spiders are appearing again....
Has the weather warmed up enough to knock them all out of their hibernative state?
Or is there a different reason for them to be appearing?
No Idea.
I just hope they don't pop up anywhere else unexpected.
Cus like...I kinda like having peace of mind. *nods*

It Shouldn't Be There
Okay.
So. I live in a desert.
Ask me where I live I will probably answer that most of the time.
I mean sure. There are mountains. There are lakes.
But like...it's a desert. I live in the desert.
Just like a...lesser desert?
*shakes head*
Okay. Whatever, I'm over thinking this.
But needless to say.
I live in a place where I don't usually expect to see fish outside of a fishtank.
Because...it's like...a desert here.
There are mountains and streams and rivers and lakes and I know this.
Like I know this!
I have family that loves to go fishing and neighbors that love to go fishing.
so I know this!
Ah.
but those places are like...far away.
Not here.
Not in the middle of town.
So you can imagine my confusion today.
When I was driving home from work.
And I stopped at a red light at an intersection.
And saw movement in the middle of the road.
That movement.
A Fish.
A FISH WAS FLOPPING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD!
Like.
Huh?
Because like I said.
Desert.
This was PAVEMENT.
Sure there was grass on either side of the road.
but Water?
I thought the closest source of water was the lake like 6 miles away.
Or you know....the series of ponds....like another six miles away at the local park.
In any case.
There was a fish in the middle of the road!!
WHAT?!!?
A LIVE FISH.
Honestly, my first thought was like....
Was there a fisherman nearby in his truck and somehow the fish jumped out of his cool box and onto the road when he was making a turn?
Did an eagle catch it and drop it there?
DID IT FALL FROM THE SKY out of some sort of portal?!!
In any case I was like.
I gotta save this thing!
Luckily I had the sense of self preservation to not get out of my car right then. Because um...middle of the road. Red light about to turn green.
But luckily there was a parking lot nearby.
So I zoomed into it. Parked like a crazy person.
(okay so I parked normally within the lines and such)
And darted over to the street.
Which luckily I hit the intersection when the red lights were in my favor.
So I ran out to the middle of the road.
And the fish....
Well it looked dead.
Mouth gaping wide.
Body stiff.
But I knew from experience at work.
And having seeing the fish still alive like a minute before.
That sometimes fish will revive even though they appear to be dead if you put them back in the water.
And as I was rushing to grab the fish.
I happened to notice that there was actually a source of water nearby!
O.o
Like some sort of stream or something.
Which yah...makes sense cus lakes gotta fill up with water somehow.
And the place I stopped at was like the edge of a golf course...
And those places have water too.
So I picked up the fish.
and carried it to this water source.
Where there were two boys fishing.
-And they probably thought it was pretty weird to see a girl coming up out of the blue towards them to the lake.
And tossed the fish into the water.
Did it live?
I don't know. Y_Y;;;;
It vanished from my sight.
Which could mean that a) it sunk down to the bottom where I couldn't see it. -Though I looked.
Or b) it revived instantly and swam away out of sight.
I'm really hoping it was B.
I watched for a moment. Trying to tell.
Aware of the two boys giving me side looks like "What did this girl just throw into the water?" "Why did she just come up to stare at the water?" something like that.
And I couldn't see the fish.
Sooo I hope it lived.
^^;;
But I didn't want to stand there like a weirdo all day so I went back to my car.
Leaving the two boys behind.
Still.
beyond *crossing my fingers* that the fish actually lived.
I have to wonder if the two boys were involved in the fish ending up in the middle of the intersection.
Like had they caught it and put it in a box and it like...flopped out and twenty feet away?
Did they throw it into the middle of the intersection? (But why?)
Or did one of the boys catch the fish, but pulled his line out of the water so fast that the fish got unhooked from the line and went sailing over their heads and into the intersection?
The world may never know.
But I know this.
Definitely a weird sight to see a fish flopping where no fish should be flopping.
Until you next read these words;
I'll be watching the leaves.

To Talk
It's funny.
Kikay and I have been roomies for a bit.
Like...we see each other everyday because we live in the same house currently.
But like...we don't always talk when we're home together.
Mostly it's a "I'm home!" "hey I'm making dinner." "Is that project giving you trouble again?"
Just typical day to day things.
lol. But yesterday and today, we were up at the parentals and such visiting.
And it's suddenly like. "Kikay! What's up?! What's happening?!"
We started talking.
You know getting into those philosophical debates, and the meaning of life questions.
....which these conversations we could have had all the time at home....
Yet, the topics don't always come up until like...we're in a different environment.
It's weird.
So strange.
To have that happen.
Like literally we see each other everyday, and yet...it's when we're 'out of town' that we have all these deep discussions.
*shakes head*
Maybe it's the energy of a place.
Or the level of comfort of a place.
That influences what topics of conversation we have and bring up.
Who knows.
Just something interesting that was pointed out to me today lol.
Until you next see these words;
I'll be watching the leaves.
Enjoy the day!

The Right Perspective
In the early 1900s, a young father and his family joined the Church in Hawaii.
He was enthused about his new-found religion, and after two years of membership both he and his eldest son held the priesthood.
They prospered and enjoyed the fellowship of the little branch.
They anxiously looked forward to being sealed as a family for eternity in the temple soon to be completed in Laie.
Then, as so often happens, a test crossed their path.
One of their daughters became ill with an unknown disease and was taken away to a strange hospital.
People in Hawaii were understandably wary of unknown diseases, as such diseases had wrought so much havoc there.
The concerned family went to church the next Sunday, looking forward to the strength and understanding they would receive from their fellow members.
It was a small branch.
This young father and his son very often took responsibility for blessing and passing the sacrament.
This was one such Sunday.
They reverently broke the bread while the congregation sang the sacrament hymn.
When the hymn was finished, the young father began to kneel to offer the sacrament prayer.
Suddenly the branch president, realizing who was at the sacred table, sprang to his feet.
He pointed his finger and cried.
"Stop. You can't touch the sacrament! Your daughter has an unknown disease. Leave immediately while someone else fixes new sacrament bread. We can't have you here. Go."
The stunned father slowly stood up.
He searchingly looked at the branch president, then at the congregation.
Then, sensing the depth of anxiety and embarrassment from all, he motioned to his family and they quietly filed out of the chapel.
Not a word was said as, with faces to the ground, they moved along the duty trail to their small home.
The young son noticed the firmness in his father's clenched fists and the tenseness of his set jaw.
When they entered their home they all sat in a circle, and the father said, "We will all be silent until I am ready to speak."
All sorts of thoughts went through the mind of this young boy.
He envisioned his father coming up with many novel ways of getting revenge.
Would they kill the branch president's pigs, or burn his house, or join another church?
He could hardly wait to see what would happen.
Five minutes, ten minutes, fifteen minutes--not a sound.
He glanced at his father.
His eyes were closed, his mouth was set, his fingers clenched, but no sound.
Twenty minutes, twenty-five minutes--still nothing.
then he noticed a slight relaxing of his father's hands, a small tremor on his father's lips, then a barely perceptible sob.
He looked at his father--tears were trickling down his cheeks from closed eyes.
Soon he noticed his mother was crying also, then one child, then another, and soon the whole family.
Finally, the father opened his eyes, cleared his throat, and announced, "I am now ready to speak. Listen carefully."
He slowly turned to his wife and said, meaningfully, "I love you."
Then turning to each child, he told them individually, "I love you. I love all of you and I want us to be together, forever, as a family.
And the only way that can be done is for all of us to be good members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and be sealed by his holy priesthood in the temple.
This is not the branch president's church. It is the Church of Christ.
We will not let any man or any amount of hurt or embarrassment or pride keep us from being together forever.
Next Sunday we will go back to church. We will stay by yourselves until our daughter's sickness is known, but we will go back."
This great man had proper eternal perspective.
The daughter's health problem was resolved; the family did go to the temple when it was completed.
the children did remain faithful and were likewise sealed to their own families in the temple as time went on.
Today over 100 souls in this family are active members of the Church and call their father, grandfather, and great-grandfather blessed because he kept his eyes on eternity, because he used his priesthood to bless his family.
