*exhales*
It feels like when one aspect of my life goes unstable....the other areas tend to follow suit.
And I honestly don't feel like I can deal with the emotional...drain it's all causing at the moment.
Today I received another blow to my....idk psych? To the stability I need to have in my life.
Stability that is rather rocky currently *exhales*
I came into work today to discover that my head manager is "no longer a part of the company."
Which is like....
With the emotional turmoil I've already been in from the past couple of days.
It was kinda like "Oh goodie, another problem to add to it might as well pile it on it looks like a week of emotional trauma for Sarnic."
But like.
It's a shock.
Because this head manager has been really good for the store.
Like I felt the environment has been really positive.
And the atmosphere has been good.
Our store's been looking great and overall customers have been really satisfied and happy.
There was even talk of the manager transferring to a different store to help them out because they've been struggling.
So to hear that he's like.
Gone gone.
It's so weird.
The pieces don't add up.
And in typical corporate fashion.....they're not really giving details on why the manager is suddenly gone.
I hate that.
I like having details and concrete information.
I like being in the loop.
And whenever managers vanish it's sooo secretive.
Like. You only ever hear rumors of rumors as to why they're let go.
It's like they're afraid of word getting out or something? Not wanting the general public to know??? But like...don't workers have a right to know the reason why the manager is gone?
*exhales*
It's rough.
And the dynamic in the store is going to be...stressed.
As it can take up to 6 weeks to get a new manager for the store.
So I hear that the other managers are going to be working overtime to ensure that there's coverage and such.
But yah.
I get that it's retail and that most of the time people don't stick around.
But at the same time...I really thought he would be around longer and would have left....under different circumstances.
*exhales*
Here's to hoping that the new head manager is a good fit for the store.
Until you next read these words;
I'll be watching the leaves.

Constantly Redoing
You know the saying where it's like 'two steps forward and one step back?"
I've been feeling that today while I've been helping out around Daddoo's house.
Because...for whatever reason. It seems like Daddoo loves to make messes.
So like...I'll clean something up...and then come back two weeks later to find the area a disaster again.
Like I get that he wants to get the house 'organized'
But I really....feel like it would be easier if you just....kept the mess in one room?
Like.
Daddoo feels that he needs to have a 'staging area'
A place where he brings from other rooms so he can decide if he wants to keep the things or not...and then decide where to put them.
But the problem is that the staging area....is always a room that's already been cleaned.
So it just becomes messy again.
I mean.
Like two weeks ago when I was last up.
I helped to clean up the living room and kitchen so that when the sibs came over to have family dinner...we would have a place to sit and a place to eat/cook.
It was clean.
IT was nice.
It had a good feel to it.
And then I come back up yesterday afternoon.
And both rooms are a disaster again.
Stuff piled everywhere making it difficult to sit down, the kitchen table covered with stuff.
At least this time....the dishes weren't left in the sink. They'd actually been set out to dry...if not put away.
But like...it's frustrating.
Because part of the reason for me coming up to Daddoo's on my day off was so that I could help him continue to organize the basement while he's away.
But because the upstairs was messy and Kikay was stressing over it...I ended up spending a couple of hours again cleaning the two rooms I had cleaned two weeks ago.
Like....I could have used that time to focus more on the basement.
Two steps forward...one step back. *exhales*
So I didn't get as much accomplished down there as I'd been hoping to while Daddoo is out of the house.
And it doesn't help that like..things that I had thought were 'put away' are suddenly not put away again.
Boxes that were stacked in one area were suddenly stacked in another.
And just shoved haphazardly about.
*exhales*
So.
Frustrating.
Especially because I feel like I'm running on fumes already. So to be taking time to go help out and focus on others....is draining. Especially when I have to keep redoing the same tasks I accomplished the last time before I can continue on with things.
At least with Daddoo away I can be reasonably confident that upstairs will stay clean until I come up next.
But we'll see.
We'll see.
Until you next see these words;
I'll be watching the leaves.
Enjoy the day!

Terminal
It was one of those scenarios where you have to wonder if you're...well dreaming.
So.
There i was.
Driving up to Hometown.
And I was like..fifteen minutes away when my phone starts ringing.
I look down to check and see that it's my friend from work -the Bird Guy as I refer to him because the dude has a ton of birds.
I figured he was calling to check in and chat.
As he's been doing that off and on recently.
And normally I would pick up.
But at the moment i was driving.
And since it's been snowing all day....even though the roads in the area I was currently in were clear, I didn't want to risk getting distracted on the phone. Especially when the drivers of my state can...well lose their minds when it comes to driving on snowy days. So I wanted to be careful and keep my attention on the road.
So I let the phone ring until it went to voicemail.
But immediately he called back.
Again I let the phone ring.
Now I was thinking it might be an accidental dial or something.
Because that had happened before where he called twice in a row and when I picked up I just got the ambient noise of someone who wasn't actively on the phone.
I figured I would call him back once I got to Daddoo's place. And explain that I had been driving and that due to the snow and such I didn't want to be a distracted driver.
But like five minutes later.
He calls a third time.
And leaves a voice message. (One I still haven't listened to.)
Okay...something is going on, though I am hoping at this point that it's still accidental calling.
But my mind's going to the bad possibilities.
He's in trouble and needs me to come get him -which hasn't happened before so it seemed unlikely.
Or like maybe he was at my work and wanted to see if I was there--or wanted to know when I would be there so he could drop by and visit.
I was trying to think more positive.
But as the phone rang a fourth time right after the voicemail.
I couldn't help but wonder what was going on.
And, truthfully, I was getting a little irritated.
Because like...I didn't want to pick up while I was driving. If he would wait just another ten minutes I would be at Daddoos and could hear the voice message and call him back.
The phone rang a fifth time.
Just as I was pulling up to the house.
So I put the car in park and shut off my radio so I could hear him.
And basically from the get go....he tells me that he's not 'doing so good' that there's 'something wrong.'
Which...I know he's been dealing with pain, and hasn't been active over the winter as he's had problems leaving the house.
But I'd equated that to taking care of his birds and to like...not wanting to deal with all the crazy people driving around.
Like he's mentioned he's had pain for a bit now so that wasn't a new comment....
But now.
Now he's calling me and telling me it's "terminal"
But what 'it' is....I don't know.
I tried to get it out of him and he wouldn't tell me.
Only saying he's seen doctors and that 'it's a part of life' and that "there's nothing that can be done."
And I'm just sitting here in my car...exhausted from a work day, tense from driving in the snow...trying to process...that he's called to tell me he's dying.
Which is such a 'is this a dream?' moment.
Because when he last dropped by the store last month...he seemed alright.
I mean he didn't look sick.
But it just...brought back the memories of Mom.
How she was complaining about pain in her chest and having trouble breathing.
But otherwise she seemed fine.
Only to have her pass away the day after we get back from our weekend vacation.
And it increased my already stressed self, because like...Daddoo is gone currently on a vacation out of the country.
And I'd literally been thinking earlier today, that if needed I could call the bird guy for support if there were problems.
As I was also taking my car to the mechanic to get it checked out after what Jiffy Lube had said, and was planning for the worst case scenario that they'd say I'd need a new car and that if I needed a new car daddoo wouldn't be there to help me out with buying one and the only other guy I knew was the bird guy so I could call him to help me out if needed----
And here he is.
Calling me.
Telling me he's dying.
From the way he was speaking on the phone it was sounding like he was convinced it would happen today, soon.
But idk...terminal is a hard word to wrap your mind around.
Especially since you don't know how bad it is. Or what the issue is.
But like...it rocked me.
Hardcore.
To be listening to this man who's probably around Daddoo's age if not slightly younger....telling me that he's dying.
And he was basically calling me to tell me that he told his mother about me and gave her my number, so that when he does pass....I would be able to come take care of his birds until they would be able to get rehomed. Because that was his main concern. That someone would be looking after his birds as they've been his babies for a long time now and he wants them to go to good places.
And that I needed to keep the 'pairs together.' -aka keep the birds that are in the same cage together--
Which I can do....Or at least try to do....because I've never been to his home, nor seen most of his birds.
I mean I have seen a couple when he's brought them by work.
But I don't know what all is required for the birds....so i'm hoping it's just make sure the cage is clean and that they have food and water sort of scenario.
*exhales*
Part of me is just....hoping that this phone call was from like..idk how to word it...but like a medication haze? Like maybe he was on one too many pain pills and he over reacted and that he's actually fine.....
As he did say "I'm preparing for the worst outcome."
So it makes sense he'd want to make sure things were in order and such. Just in case.
But at the same time.....
It's hard to know.
I really hope it's not 'terminal' whatever it is and that the 'something's wrong, something's not right" comments aren't as serious as he was making them out to be.
Hard to know when terminal is used.
When he says that he's seen doctors.
*exhales*
But yah. I'm just left...reeling.
Because here's like a friend who I've seen as a pillar I could lean on....telling me that he's not going to be around.
It's hard.
So hard.
And I just...don't know how to process it.
I don't know what I can do...
Like....
What can you do?
Until you next read these words;
I'll be watching the leaves.

Stressed
I suppose...I should have foreseen this.
As I've warned many a customer about the hazards of adding too many fish at once into their tanks.
And adding liek....37 fish within the space of a week....is a lot of fish.
Though in the grand scheme of things they were only like an inch long.
And if one inch of fish equals one gallon of water...then I only added in 37 gallons worth of fish into my 125 gallon tank.
Which is like...idk a third of the tankish?
(I'm too tired to do proper math so let's just go with it.)
Unfortunately though....I may have a fish within the tank that likes to eat my smaller fish.
As of my 15 neon tetras....only 4 remain.
Of my 5 glolight tetras....only 2 remain.
Of my 8 black neon tetras...only 4 remain.
And of my 5 red minors...only 4 remain.
So it could be that one of the other fish....like one of my large goldfish as I've seen him chasing the little fish around on occasion...ate them.
Or I just added too many fish at once because I got over eager and wanted to add in lots and lots of fish....and the fish are just dying off on their own to get back into a more stable environment.
I'm guessing I overstrained the tank.
As multiple goldfish have been acting...off the past couple of days.
>_< and I just noticed a couple of hours ago that one of my goldfish has come down with ich. *exhales*
So I've turned up the temperature in my tank to try and help it naturally go away.
As this is really bad timing since I don't have the proper treatment handy and I'm going to be gone for the next couple of days. Gah.
So hopefully...the increased heat in the tank helps my poor goldfish out.
And once it stops snowing I'll be able to easily do a water change on the tank -as my gravel vacuum only connects to an outdoor faucet....
but yah.
Note to self.
Don't add so many fish at once.
You know better Sarnic. You. Know. Better.
Until you next see these words;
I'll be watching the leaves.
Enjoy the day!

C is for Cookie
It's that time of year again!!!
Okay...so it happens multiple times a year.
But like. I haven't had this since...last October?
So it's that time of year again!!!
When my favorite cookie from Crumbl Cookie comes back into their shop!!
-As this cookie place alternates their cookies every week.
So you can only get certain cookies during certain weeks...and if you're not paying attention and miss it...well...you're kinda out of luck until next time.
Which is around every four months or so apparently.
But yah!! My Nutella and SeaSalt cookie is back at the Crumbl and I'm soooo excited!!!
Lol though due to the snow yesterday, I ended up delaying my trip til today to get the cookies!!
And to be a good sport, because I know one of my roomies likes cheesecake and the store was having a 'rasberry cheesecake' cookie as part of their selection...I got one of those and then 3 nutella cookies for me!! :D
.....Only my roomie and I apparently had the same idea. ^^;;
As I'd shown her yesterday that my favorite cookie was in stock and mentioned there was one that she might like.
So today as well after work, she went and got cookies from Crumbl!
Lol so we got double the cookie goodness!!
Though she got a variety pack of 4 different cookies.
While I got my 3 and 1. ^^;; lol.
But funny how we were both like "Huh I should go to crumbl!"
What's also funny is that we both thought "Hey maybe I should text her and let her know that I'm going to crumbl." and then we didn't. ^^;; lol.
Oh well.
More cookies for us. :D

Tug of War
I suppose one of the main struggles I have on a near consistent basis....is balancing my wants with other people's needs.
Like. I constantly just want to work on my writing projects. Which is usually best done when I'm home without having to interact with people.
But I also...want to help others or you know...socialize with people.
And it's difficult to not...stress out in either case.
Because if I'm writing I'm fretting about not being social and talking to people.
But if I'm being social and talking to people, I'm fretting about not writing.
Especially when I have personal goals in mind.
Like trying to get chapters finished by certain dates....
That issues come to a head.
As often times when I'm trying to get something done by a certain day.
That's when the days before or the day of end up busy with social events.
Whether it's seeing friends/family, helping out with tasks at hand, doing social events.....(or I get bad migraines as an after effect of the social event)
Something happens and I end up being unable to do the writing I was hoping to accomplish.
And like...I know myself by now that most goals I set are arbitrary as 9/10 times I don't accomplish them anyways.
But it always galls that things happen, whether by my own doing or by social events....
That prevents me from finishing/accomplishing said goal.
Which I suppose is an underlying factor in the constant tension/stress that I feel that I'm under.
Because while I want to write....
I often feel like I can't until I've helped everyone else and 'done my duty'
*exhales*
It's frustrating.
One of these days I'll get my act together and write faster.
But it probably wont' be today. *shakes head*

Go Team
I'm not one to pay attention to Football.
Honestly the only entertainment I get from it is watching the commercials on the Super Bowl.
When asked my favorite team?
I say the 49ers.
Because that was the team I remembered my Mom rooting for when I was a child.
Mostly because that was around the point that Steve Young was the quarterback I think??
She ended up rooting for the Bronco's in later years.
But the 49ers have been the team that stuck in my mind throughout the years.
Not that I follow them at all.
I don't know how well they do, how many games they've won or lost.
So I was pleasantly surprised to find that they had made it to the superbowl this year.
As I feel like they haven't been to one since I was in elementary school.
So I was rather excited. Like. YES! :D Go my mom's team.
However....
No one else was.
I don't follow the drama. The politics. The ins and outs of which coaches work for who or which players have gone to different teams.
So it ...threw me off a bit.
When I joined some family for the 'Big Game'
To find them all rooting for the Chiefs.
Because like...to my knowledge. There's no familial connection to the chiefs. No history with them.
While the 49ers were once my Mother's favorite team.
So to have Daddoo rooting strongly against them.
Was so disjointing me.
It was odd to be like the only 49ers fan in a room full of chief supporters.
I would have loved it if the 49ers had one.
It sure looked like it in the first half.
Though I am proud of the chiefs for finally getting a win after 50 years. So woot!! Yay for them.
After all, I'm not that into football.
Most years I randomly pick a team and root for them.
So I'm not disappointed that the 49ers didn't win.
I am sad.
But the teams gave it a good go. At least there was more of a fight this year between the teams.
Other years it seems like one side creams the other.
So yah. Good fight.
Good game.
Wish I could have had someone with me to support my team though.
Until you next read these words;
I'll be watching the leaves.
Enjoy the day!
