It was supposed to have a been a quick lunch out with my sister.
We were meeting at the local Farmer's Market to scope out and see if they had any Navajo Tacos, as she'd seen them there a couple of weeks ago, but they'd not been there last week.
So I thought, why not try again and see if they're there.
They were.
so we met up and had lunch there.
^^
So delicious.
In any case.
We decided to go to a couple other places afterwards.
And while we were driving to return to my car...
Her car started flashing lights on the dashboard.
Odd acronymns like TBC and ABS or something.
Flashed.
Disappeared.
Flashed
Disappeared.
And then turned on and stayed on.
Not a good thing.
It was random.
So I googled it on my phone.
Found out it was stuff that helped to keep the brakes from locking up.
and the flashing light...meant that that wasn't working.
Or it could have been a simple glitch from a loose wire.
Which meant.
Yes go find a mechanic right away.
But as we were going to pick up my car,
The brakes started seizing up.
Jerking us as we drove.
The brake lights came on.
Another light came on.
Basically, news to get off the busy main street and find a side road.
Thankfully.
Because I'd had trouble finding parking for the popular farmer's market earlier, I'd had to park on a side street.
So we pulled in a couple of cars behind me.
In order to figure out where we could go to get her car fixed.
Her car started seizing while we were there just with her foot on the brake. So she turned it off. While we figured out what to do.
But as we were doing that,
this car pulled up behind us, and backed into the driveway right there.
We were worried we were in their way, so Kikay went to turn on her car to move forward.
It wouldn't start.
Dead.
Completely Dead.
After calling a few people to figure out what to do, we decided to use my car to jump her car.
Which we did.
about that point we were doing that the two gentlemen from the house we were parked in front of came out.
To help us out.
They told us a location of a mechanic.
Took the wires off the battery.
I started to pull away.
And her car died.
So I returned to charge the battery for a little while longer.
This time the guys offered to follow behind us, to try and get to a closer mechanic than the one they had recommended.
We made it maybe a block down the street, before everything electrical in her car stopped working, and the car died soon after.
At this point, the older man of the two said that he had a battery charger thing he could pull out if we wanted to push the car to his driveway, it would take maybe an hour to give the battery a full charge where we then could get it to a different auto place even closer to us (which considering how quickly her car was dying...was a good thing.)
So we pushed the car back to the driveway.
And chatted with the two guys for a while before we managed to actually drive the 800 very tense yards. To a parts store.
Where the people there were able to test the Battery and determined...that yes it was going downhill, but the cause of Kikay's problem was actually the Alternator. Which was completely shot.
We were running totally on battery power,
and that wouldn't last very long.
Which meant we needed to go find a Mechanic ASAP. (Kinda frustrating as I thought these guys would be able to fix the problem. Not so.) And the people there gave us a name of a mechanic that they liked that we could go to.
So we drove to a rather sketchy looking part of town down by the highway.
-It wasn't actually sketchy, but just had that look because of all the cars and such that were around the yard that needed to be fixed.
Thankfully,
The mechanic there was able to fix Kikay's car within a couple of hours!
Woot that was a surprise! A good surprise.
She got a new Battery and Alternator.
and everything is running smoothly now.
But basically.
Its a good thing that I wanted to meet up with her.
That I happened to park in front of a house that could help us.
That the car didn't die on us until we were at our car.
That the Mechanic could fix the car quickly and without much expense.
All around. Blessings. Tons and Tons of blessings.
Who knew what would have happened had we not met up today, or where Kikay could have gotten stranded or when it would have happened.
Yay for blessings!
Until you next read these words;
I'll be watching the leaves.
Enjoy the day!
