A New Home

So since like September, we've had a turtle off the floor and isolated in our sick room.
The issue being that his eyes wouldn't open, because they were too swollen to do so.

Apparently when he'd gone to the vet (I think I was on vacation when this occurred) the vet said that he was blind.
And basically gave us some multivitamin drops to put on his food.
But not much else.
Plus the directive to come back for Vitamin A shots every now and then.

Which I honestly do wonder what was said in that visit. Because...that couldn't have been all.

But we ended up drydocking the turtle.
Basically only putting a bowl of water in the tank and leaving the rest dry.
Because we didn't want the eyes to get infected further with dirty water.
And small tanks are notoriously hard to keep clean if they're full of water.

So for months he's been back there.
And like two months ago...one eye managed to open. Which was great!!
Because I could see that it was bright and clear and definitely not blind.

So maybe the vet had been wrong?

Only the other eye never opened.
It remained apparently swollen shut.
No change whatsoever.

And our new head manager...finally had enough.
After all. It's now January.
The poor turtle has been stuck in the back for like four months. *exhales*
So the manager gave permission to adopt him out.
After all there's been no change in the eyes.
No improvements or major relapses.

And he wanted it gone.
ASAP.

So I contacted my brother.
And with a little bit of convincing, and providing some materials for the tank.
He agreed to take the turtle in.

Apparently the dude really just wanted some clean water.
As he dove right into his new home that had plenty of water for him to swim around in.
And opened BOTH eyes too.

Only the one eye that wasn't opening....does appear to be blind.
As it's just white in that area when my brother tried to take a closer look at it.

So poor thing may remain partially blind.
But I'm more hopeful now that the turtle is with someone who put more attention him than we could in the store.

Here's to a full recovery!

Until you next see these words;
I'll be watching the leaves.
Enjoy the day!
