Suddenly ill

So for a little over a month now,
We've had a guinea pig in our isolation room.
He was a customer return, the customer having brought him back for hairloss and scabbing on his face and such.
Which....it's pretty easy to figure out it was a case of ringworm, and so we took him to the vet to get the necessary treatment for it.
And usually it takes about a month for the ringworm to go away.
Which is mostly what happened, though as I was getting to the point of 'oh he's going to be able to go home soon' --as the customer wanted to buy him back once he was better---I noticed that another patch of furloss had popped up elsewhere, which meant continuing treatment and such.

But then last week. We noticed that this guinea pig was acting more lethargic.
So we took him back to the vet and got him some meds to treat that.

Which seemed to help as he perked right back up and was acting like his normal self.

And those meds...ended like yesterday?

Which was great, because again, he was to that point where we're like. "Okay a couple more days and you can go home!"

Only.....

This morning I come in.
And notice he's not acting good at all.

His breathing is labored.
He's not moving around.
He has crusties on his nose.

And like I try and get him to move his front legs...and he doesn't move them. They're like curled up tight against his body.

O.o

This is like a complete 180 from what I'd seen on Monday (as a coworker opened the back on Tuesday so I didn't see him then, but the charts indicate that he was doing just fine.)

Which.
With how he was acting...
It did not look good.
Like it's the death look sort of look that he had.

And this was bad because this guinea pig was a customer return. This customer wanted to buy the guinea pig back when he got better.
And he currently wasn't looking better.

So yah. Stressful.

Even more stressful considering that the vet within the store that sees Guinea Pigs....didn't work until Friday.
And that was two days too long for him.
Not with how he was acting.

Thankfully the managers were willing to take quick action, and as soon as the second manager of the day showed up (right when we opened) my other manager took him to our other vet that we visit.

He told me that they rushed the guinea pig right into the back upon seeing it.

Which yay for immediate care.

And whatever they did seemed to work? Maybe? As they called back just as I was getting off my shift to say that the guinea pig was ready to be picked up with his meds....

*fingers crossed* that the meds will help him out.
But at the same time...with how he was acting...I'm not exactly hopeful. :S :S :S

I do hope he pulls through though....
Because I really don't want to have to call the customer and tell them that their guinea pig didn't make it.

Until you next see these words;
I'll be watching the leaves.
Enjoy the day!
