Panic in the Car

So there we were, driving down the road, having just come from the downtown shopping district that Daddoo had wanted drop by a certain store real quick so that he could look once more at the rocks/fossils/gems etc that could be found within the store.

I was less enthusiastic about going because I was more conscious of the fact that we were supposed to be meeting up with the extended family at an event....that we wanted to be early for so that we could get a good parking spot because the place can get crowded....and the fam was already on their way.

So I was more anxious to meet up where we said we were going to be and anxious to get there in a timely manner because I hate being late to things. Even though the event didn't start for like an hour and a half.

In any case.
Daddoo got his thing. Put it in the car and we headed off.

Only for him to pull over to the side of the road halfway there in order to help me take pictures of the mountains.
Which, while considerate....I could have done easily from the car by rolling down the window.

Still. We stopped. Took some pictures.
And then Dad did a quick pull out back onto the road so we could get back on the way to our destination.

Only.
That quick pull out.
Disturbed a stack of boxes full of Mom's books that we had brought up to give to family.
Top box on the pile....slid off/toppled over down onto the item that Daddoo had bought.

An item that would probably crack when it's dropped...or when something heavy is dropped onto it.

So there we were driving down the road.

And Daddoo freaks out that the box of books may have broken this slightly pricey thing that he'd just bought like seven minutes earlier.

So there he is. DRIVING.
And he's reaching back trying to get the box of books off his new possession -which was placed right behind him so like reaching your arm around the back of the seat and trying to look over your shoulder....while you are DRIVING
meant that the car was swerving back and forth in the lane.

Gah.
It was such a heart attack moment.
I basically yelled at Daddoo to pull over and grabbed at the box of books from him.
Because there's nothing you can do while DRIVING. Gah.

So he managed to pull over, put the car in park, and get out to check the thing and see if it was okay.

It was.
Yay. Bubblewrap works.

So he readjusted where the item was placed in the car.
And we finally ended up at the event to meet up with family.

*exhales*

Like...I get the instinctual panic when you think something has gone wrong.
But at the same time. It was sooooo stressful to be in the car at that moment.

Took me forever to untense from that.

Until you next see these words;
I'll be watching the leaves.
Enjoy the day!
