Catch of the Day

My Brother is the hero of the hour. :)

So. It was heading towards sunset.
And my family had decided to head to the pier to do some crabbing (while we wandered around collecting Pokémon at the same time.)
We picked a pier that had sea lions near it (aka a lot of people wanting to see them) but where my Daddoo had heard that there was good crabbing as well, so long as we fished off the opposite side from the sea lions.
As we were unwinding our nets and setting the bait and tying off the traps before we threw the nets into the ocean.

This gentleman came up to my brother and was like "Let's see how great of a fisherman you really are."
I thought that they were meaning they wanted to watch us crab....which would be rather boring for them as crabbing is 15 mins of sitting, two minutes of pulling up nets and narrowing out the 'keepers' from the 'nonkeepers' and then back to more waiting....

But then the man said something along the lines of "maybe you can make a little boy happy and get his shoe for us."

As apparently the man's son had lost one of his flipflops to the water below.
It was black and blue and floating right there.....
Only we were like 10 feet up, and there was no nearby land, so no real way to prevent the flipflop from floating further out into the ocean.
Hence, the fisherman comment.

As the gentleman wanted to see if my brother could use the crabbing net we had to catch that flipflop and ensure that a little boy's day wasn't ruined.

It took a few tries.
The first one missed.
The second one he managed to drag the shoe closer.
And finally the third one, Meralto managed to get the shoe in our crabbing net and pull it up.
To the joy and excitement of the family and especially the little boy. lol.

The mom even took a picture of Meralto's 'catch.' haha.

So yah, my Brother is the Hero of the day. ^^ Saving a shoe. lol
