A Decoration Change

It's crazy to think that I've had my 125 gallon fish tank for over a year now.
I mean last year in February was when I finally got everything in the tank, got most of my fish and such and yah. ^^;; It's been great. ^^ I love my fishtank. ^^

But....
Over the past month or so....
I been thinking I needed a change.

And before you start panicking... ^^;; lol No I wasn't about to take down my tank. :S Are you crazy?

But like....I've had the same sunken ship theme for over a year now.
And I really wanted to change it up. Do something different. Do a different theme.

My problem....is that I wanted to get some new decorations...
But like I'd spent a lot of $$$$ getting all those decorations in the tank. Why in the world would I buy more decorations and NOT use the old ones I already had.

But then I was like....I've had basically all of these decorations for a year. I've totally gotten my money's worth out of them.

And besides. It wasn't like I wouldn't be reusing the plants and such in the tank. It was just the main bigger decorations that I wanted to switch out.

My other problem though....
Is that I have breeding angelfish in my tank.
Two pairs of them.
And they've managed to work out this nice little system where when one pair's of eggs finally reach the fry stage....
The other pair is laying their set of eggs.
So like....there's not really ever more than maybe a 24 hour period where my tank Doesn't have eggs or baby fish in it.
And I didn't want to disturb them.

However.
Yesterday.
I'd had enough.

I wanted a change. I had the energy. I had the money (and good sales at work) to buy the new decorations I'd been thinking of.

So I took the plunge and did just that.
Bought the things.
Took them home.
Took out all the decorations in my tank -except the one plant where the current batch of eggs were-
Washed them all off.
Redecorated.

And ah. ^^;;

I'm so happy with the change up.
Like I needed this.
A different theme.
A different look.
I love it.
It was totally worth it to bring my tank 'back to life' again and make it vibrant and cool and ahhh I just love it.

^^

I'll be watching the leaves.

Coming Back

In my last conference message, I related my devastating experience many years ago when, as a heart surgeon, I was not able to save the lives of two little sisters.
With permission of their father, I would like to say more about that family.

Congenital heart disease afflicted three children born to Ruth and Jimmy Hatfield.
Their first son, Jimmy Jr., died without a definitive diagnosis.
I entered the picture when the parents sought help for their two daughters, Laural Ann and her younger sister, Gay Lynn.
I was heartbroken when both girls died following their operations.
Understandably, Ruth and Jimmy were spiritually shattered.

Over time, I learned that they harbored lingering resentment toward me and the Church.
For almost six decades, I have been haunted by this situation and have grieved for the Hatfields.
I tried several times to establish contact with them, without success.

Then one night last May, I was awakened by those two little girls from the other side of the veil.
Though I did not see or hear them with my physical senses, I felt their presence.
Spiritually, I heard their pleadings.
Their message was brief and clear: "Brother Nelson, we are not sealed to anyone! Can you help us?
Soon thereafter, I learned that their mother had passed away, but their father and younger brother were still alive.

Emboldened by the pleadings of Laural Ann and Gay Lynn, I tried again to contact their father, who I learned was living with his son Shawn.
This time they were willing to meet with me.

In June, I literally knelt in front of Jimmy, now 88 years old, and had a heart-to-heart talk with him.
I spoke of his daughters' pleadings and told him I would be honored to perform sealing ordinances for his family.
I also explained that it would take time and much effort on his and Shawn's part to be ready and worthy to enter the temple, as neither of them had ever been endowed.

The Spirit of the Lord was palpable throughout that meeting.
And when Jimmy and Shawn each accepted my offer, I was overjoyed!
They worked diligently with their stake president, bishop, home teachers, and ward mission leader, as well as with young missionaries and a senior missionary couple.
And then, not long ago, in the Payson Utah Temple, I had the profound privilege of sealing Ruth to Jimmy and their four children to them.
Wendy and I wept as we participated in that sublime experience.
Many hearts were healed that day!

Last Minute Ditherers

I've decided that any shift of mine that ends after like 3pm....is torture.
*shakes head*
Especially if things go really well with opening and we get all the tasks done early....and then there's no customers in the store....like it's just a recipe for boredom. *exhales*

In any case.
The most annoying thing about slow days at work, when there's nothing to do, and no one to help.

Is that you're literally just standing there, staring at the clock, watching the seconds tick by until you're free.

And nearly every single time.
When there's like five minutes left. Maybe even a minute....
There's that customer that shows up.
A needy one.

A customer that you wouldn't have had to deal with otherwise if your coworkers would show up on time for once so you could clock out on time....

But a customer...who like...just takes a ton of your time.
Only...you don't realize it at the beginning of the interaction that they're going to take forever.

So when your coworker does show up. You're like "Oh, go help these other people I can finish with this customer."

Only come to find out that the customer....can't decide anything quickly, or suddenly adds more things to catch than you'd thought they wanted.....so the supposed five minute interaction you thought you were going to get....ends up being like 20 minutes of interaction because you can't pull your coworker in to take over for you cus guess what...there's suddenly a rush of other people needing help too...and you're just kinda stuck....

Yah that happened today.
Right at the end of my shift, maybe five minutes after I was supposed to be off but I couldn't leave because my coworker hadn't yet shown up to replace me....
I had a customer come into the store with a simple request.
He'd called earlier (like 2 or three hours earlier) asking if we had ghost shrimp in.

Which he was very lucky, because I'd had like three other customers before him asking for ghost shrimp as well, and I figured that one of those ones had been the customer I'd heard another coworker talking to on the phone about if we had any in stock.

So I was like "Oh, easy customer. Just catch the ghost shrimp and we're good. I got this."

Nope.
>.<
The dude was like. *Stares at tank for two minutes* I want......yah.....all the ghost shrimp.
So I catch them,
Only to see him staring into another tank
"Anything else I can grab?"
"Yah I need...." *stares at tank for literally 2 minutes*
I think he was trying to count the fish.
"I need..." *points to tank* "........three of these...."
"Algae eaters?"
"No the...." *gestures* "....of the danios."

Which cool. I can catch those quick too.

But guess what. >.< Dude decided he needed like five other fish as well.
But would only decide that he wanted more fish after he stared into the tanks for a while. After I was nearly ready to bag up the fish already caught, he'd decide he wanted more.

So like the supposed 5 minute interaction?
Left me clocking out 20 minutes late today. >.<
Because there were like four other people in the fish section at that time, so my coworker was helping them out while I was helping this guy get the fish he wanted.
*exhales*

So. Much. Fun.
Not.

I just wanted to go home by that point.
Like I just spent the last 4 hours being bored out of my mind trying to find things to do.
And the customers had to decide to all show up and be needy 5 minutes after I was supposed to clock out.
*exhales*
Talk about torture. Just let me go home. Please? Thanks.
