An Odd Taste

You know you're sick when your tastebuds start betraying you.
Seriously.
Today and yesterday, my taste buds have made food taste....odd.

Yesterday I went and got myself more soup from Zupas.
But when I ate it....it tasted different. Spicier. I can't tell if the soup itself was spicier or if my spice taste buds were turned to 'way high' because it certainly was zipping through my mouth like a fire. I even had to go get a glass of juice to help it go down. O.o So weird!

And then today, I went to eat what I thought was a Chocolate Chip Granola Bar.
But when I bit into it.
It didn't taste like chocolate chip. O.o

No, it tasted like coffee of all things. O.o
So crazy!

I mean, I've noticed other foods haven't had much of a taste to them yesterday and today, but those two things...they were further down on the weirdness scale of taste.
*shakes head*
Hopefully though I've finally crossed the mountain of illness and recovery from here on out will be quick and smooth. *fingers crossed*

Until you next read these words;
I'll be watching the leaves.
Enjoy the day!

October 1997 General Conference Sunday Morning

James E. Faust -The Weightier Matters of the Law: Judgment, Mercy, and Faith
  • Over the centuries dogmatism, coercion, and intolerance have too often polluted the living water of the gospel, which quenches our spiritual thirst eternally. The Savior observed this in His day: "Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cumin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone
  • "Ye blind guides, which strain at a gnat, and swallow a camel."
  • Similarly, Paul said, "The letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life."
  • There are three sources of guidance for making moral judgments.
    • First is the guidance of the Holy Ghost.
    • The second source is the wise counsel of priesthood leaders whom the Lord has put in place to guide us.
    • Third, the constant demonstration of love should temper all our judgments.
  • "It is an easy thing to believe in the dead prophets, but it is a greater thing to believe in the living prophets."
  • True religion is not looking primarily for weaknesses, faults, and errors. It is the spirit of strengthening and overlooking faults even as we would wish our own faults to be overlooked. When we focus our entire attention on what may be wrong rather than what is right, we miss the sublime beauty and essence of the sweet gospel of the Master.
  • "Come on, dear brother, since the war is past, For friends at first, are friends again at last."
L. Tom Perry -Receive Truth
  • If a person gains more knowledge and intelligence in this life through his diligence and obedience than another, he will have so much the advantage in the world to come."
  • Mortality is the time to learn first of God and the gospel and to perform the ordinances. After our feet are set firmly on the path to eternal life we can amass more knowledge of the secular things.
  • "Take advantage of every opportunity to enlarge your understanding of the gospel. Make the effort to participate in seminary and institute programs."
  • It will put a shield of protection around you to keep you free from the temptations and trials of the world.
Harold G. Hillam -Teachers, the Timeless Key
  • "We beseech you that whatever may be the methods employed, whatever may be the changes wrought in the fifty years to come, that you never forget for an instant the object of the great Sunday School work, viz: To teach the children the principals of the Gospel of Jesus Christ; to make Latter-day Saints of them."
  • We have been blessed with magnificent tools and methods which can be used to assist in teaching, but as with all tools, they are to be used with wisdom and discretion if they are to bless and simplify our lives. Just as fire under control brings so many comforts and benefits, a fire improperly used or out of control wreaks havoc and destruction.
  • We are in essence a church of teachers. Regardless of life's circumstances or the nature of one's calling, all members of the Church have the opportunity to teach and to testify. The very nature of our lives bears witness of what we believe and teaches all who come within our sphere of influence.
Jeffrey R. Holland -"He Hath Filled the Hungry with Good Things"
  • The absence of spiritual strength, the paucity of spiritual nutrition, was an even more terrible hunger in the modern world.
  • In our contemporary success and sophistication we too may walk away from the vitally crucial bread of eternal life; we may actually choose to be spiritually malnourished, willfully indulging in a kind of spiritual anorexia. Like those childish Galileans of old, we may turn up our noses when divine sustenance is placed before us.
  • Whoever we are and whatever we reply, His response is always the same: "Come," He says lovingly. "Come, follow me."
  • I have always loved that when Matthew records Jesus' great injunction, "Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect," Luke adds the Savior's additional commentary: "Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful" --as if to suggest that mercy is at least a beginning synonym for the perfection God has and for which all of us must strive. Mercy, with its sister virtue forgiveness, is at the very heart of the Atonement of Jesus Christ and the eternal plan of salvation.
  • Now, if you feel too spiritually maimed to come to the feast, please realize that the Church is not a monastery for perfect people, though all of us ought to be striving on the road to godliness. No, at least one aspect of the Church is more like a hospital or an aid station, provided for those who are ill and want to get well, where one can get an infusion of spiritual nutrition and a supply of sustaining water in order to keep on climbing.
  • "No matter how serious the trial, how deep the distress, how great the affliction, [God] will never desert us. He never has, and He never will. He cannot do it. It is [against] His character [to do so].
  • Those who will receive the Lord Jesus Christ as the source of their salvation will always lie down in green pastures, no matter how barren and bleak the winter has been. And the waters of their refreshment will always be still waters, no matter how turbulent the storms of life.
Gordon B. Hinckley -Look to the Future
  • We cannot detract from their accomplishments. We cannot add to their glory. We can only look back with reverence, appreciation, respect, and resolution to build on what they have done.
  • The time has now come to turn about and face the future.
  • Conversion is more likely to come as a consequence of love. Let us be friendly. Let us be helpful. Let us live the Golden Rule.
Until you next see these words;
I'll be watching the leaves.

Still Us Three

I knew something was off when I stuck my key into the lock of my door.
Why? Because there was no snick of it unlocking.
It was already unlocked.
Which was weird...because I was almost positive that I had locked the door that morning when I left.
I say almost...because I was nearly late for work and left in a bit of a hurry.
So I may have forgotten to lock the door. Though I highly doubted that.
What I didn't doubt,
was that upon entering my apartment...there were lights on.
Specifically...the hall light...which I never turn on.
O.o
Now unless being sick has made me super delusional....somebody had been in my apartment.
It was confirmed when I glanced down the hallway, and saw that the door to the fourth bedroom was open.
The empty bedroom.
Where no one should be opening said door.
Weird.
Door unlocked. Lights on. Bedroom door open?

Could it be that I had a fourth roomie finally moving in? O.o
I couldn't believe it. Why this weekend?
No. Perhaps my other roommates came home?
I knew one was totally impossible. But the other...maybe she came home from the Christmas break early?
But nothing had been touched.
And it's not like them to leave lights on and doors open.

Maybe office people came in to do some sort of maintenance or cleaning in prep for a fourth roommate moving in?
But they would usually leave a note, email, notice that they would enter the apartment.

Soo were we getting another roommate? Or am I just crazy cus I'm not feeling well?
I mean, the place was totally empty.
No one else was home.
Nothing was taken, so that rules out thieves as well.

In the end.
I called the office. And asked "Hey, did you let anyone into my apartment today? I found the door unlocked and lights on when I got home."
The answer?
Yes. Yes they had.

Apparently, a fourth roommate was going to move in.
But then...she switched rooms.
An opening opened up on the first floor, and she liked that option better, so she moved into the floor.
It may be easy access. I mean, no stairs to climb. Though the view isn't as great....

But I'm guessing the reason for the switch is...
Well...
My apartment is/was quite messy.
^^;; Heh....
I mean...Christmas basically had a party in the living room, as well as random odds and ends because I've been living in front of the tv just to try and get better, with dishes in the sink, the kitchen kinda wonky with more Christmas odds and ends...and well....I'm going to use the excuse that I haven't been feeling well to my reasoning for not keeping the apartment nice.
(Plus...I hate cleaning...)
I mean, I totally intended to clean...at some point...just to give my roomies a nice welcome when they get back.
But how was I supposed to know that I would be getting a possible move in over the break? O.o I thought I had the place to myself. To do whatever I wanted to.
...Hmmm I may have to rethink that. I mean, next weekend may bring in another possible roommate.
And I should probably give them a better welcome then this mystery nonroommate had.
*shrugs*
We'll see.

In the end. I don't mind not having a fourth roomie.
Because she didn't leave a good impression.
I mean. Door unlocked? Lights left on?
What if all of us had been gone for the break! Anybody could have walked in at any time, taken anything. And plus our bills would have gone up because the lights would have been left on 24/7.
>.< Yes. Not impressed at all.

So, my roommates fears that they'd come back to a fourth roommate, will go unrealized for now. :)
Thanks, most likely, to my procrastination of cleaning the apartment. ^^;;

I'll be watching the leaves.

The Dream

I was at my grandparents home trying to set up their Christmas Tree, only...my grandma wasn't satisfied with the tree I'd picked out. So she sent me back up to pick out another Christmas tree. There were like three different types of trees already pre set up up there, and I had no idea which one would please her the best....

Then the unholy tones of daylight pulled me away....
and I became myself again. :)

Not Doing The Greatest

Sick.
I'm sick.
Literally. Like...have the annoying nose thing where it's either stuffy or runny and can't decide which to be. Plus a slight cough. Bleh.
But the good news is that I'm still able to function like a somewhat healthy person. :)

As....like 95% of my coworkers...are not.
Something hit Starsmet this past week.
Everyone has been decimated with a sort of stomach bug. :S
One that causes you to be friends with bathroom constantly for like 6-10 hours. Yikes! Added to a headache, and cold like symptoms... it's not good.
We've barely managed to keep a skeleton staff to hold down the fort. :S

So I count myself very lucky that It's a slight cold I have. :)
*fingers crossed* that it doesn't get worse. :S

I may have gotten a head start on it, by eating Zupas Chicken Enchilada Chili for a couple of days. ^^ That seems to have helped. Plus getting a bit more rest.

But, something odd happened this morning.
Where I woke up and my left eye was all...swollen/puffy.
O.o
(literally my eyes looked like that. o.O one bigger then the other, cus the other wouldn't open all the way.)
It's still slightly puffy, though not as noticeable.
And I have no idea what happened. O.o
I mean...I had trouble sleeping last night, as both sides of my nose stuffed up making it difficult to breathe and therefore difficult to sleep.

But when my manager saw it when I came into work this morning...
She thought I may be having an allergic reaction to something.
Which would make sense...
Only I'm not allergic to anything that I'm aware of. :S

Seriously. Unless I overdid it getting a full cup of Chicken Enchilada Chili instead of my usual 1/2 cup...I haven't done anything different.
Plus..it wasn't itchy.
...kinda. It was a 'well, I wasn't itchy until you asked if I was itchy so now my brain thinks I need to be itchy, itchy' sort of itchy.

Who knows.
I just hope me, and everyone else gets better soon. ^^

Where's Christmas?

So you know how everywhere has been playing Christmas music for at least a month and a half now?
Well...
I kinda expected them to keep playing Christmas music until New Years Day.
I mean, that's how it's been for as long as I can remember.
Hi Mirleki. ;)
And I totally thought I would be hearing Christmas music for the rest of the year.
My thoughts were proven right when I woke up the day after Christmas to the radio playing it.

But then. >.>
<.<
It disappeared.
The music of Christmas faded like a White Ninja into a snow storm.
Never to be seen -heard- again.
My work is no longer playing it.
The radio stations in my car no longer play it.
Only my radio alarm clock plays it. O.o

This is rather weird.
And hard to comprehend.
My senses are complaining.
I've been hearing Christmas Christmas Christmas!
For the past month!
To have it suddenly disappear, unexpectedly.....
So. Weird.

I wonder why... It makes snow seem more dreary without the Christmas Spirit making it a winter wonderland. :(

The Honest Path

A friend related this experience her husband had while attending medical school.
"Getting into medical school is pretty competitive, and the desire to do well and be successful puts a great deal of pressure on the new incoming freshmen.
My husband had worked hard on his studies and went to attend his first examination.
The honor system was expected behavior at the medical school.
The professor passed behavior at the medical school.
The professor passed out the examination and left the room.
Within a short time, students started to pull little cheat papers out from under their papers or from their pockets.
My husband recalled his heart beginning to pound as he realized it is pretty hard to compete against cheaters.
About that time a tall, lanky student stood up in the back of the room and stated: 'I left my hometown and put my wife and three little babies in an upstairs apartment and worked very hard to get into medical school.
And I'll turn in the first one of you who cheats, and you better believe it!'
They believed it.
There were many sheepish expressions, and those cheat papers started to disappear as fast as they had appeared.
He set a standard for the class which eventually graduated the largest group in the school's history."

The young, lanky medical student who challenged the cheaters was J Ballard Washburn, who became a respected physician and in later years received special recognition from the Utah Medical Association for his outstanding service as a medical doctor.
He also served as a General Authority and is now the president of the Las Vegas Nevada Temple.

Presents!!!

Merry Christmas!! :)
It's finally here!

^^ I have to say, I may have gotten a bit carried away getting presents for everyone this year.
I totally spent waaay too much money.
But it was totally worth it. ^^
To see the expressions of surprise, joy, excitement on people's faces?
Totally Awe-some!

Hehe,
and I did something a bit different this year with presents.
At least with my family.
I actually got them stuff they wanted.

O.o
I know. Weird right?
Or...at least I got them presents and they already knew what they were getting.
As...>.> Some of my family, are very good guessers.
And others...I was like "I'M TOTALLY GETTING YOU THIS FOR CHRISTMAS!" Over text. ^^;;

But don't worry.
I haven't gone completely mad.

I gave two presents.
One they were able to guess right off the bat.
The other.. *grins*... well, they were harder to guess.
^^ Hehe.

Yes. I love giving presents.
I love getting them in return.

And I gots lots of presents! From books, to sketchbooks/pencils, to giant chocolate bars, to movies, to games, to posters, to more candy, to magic tricks, to clothes. Ah. The list can go on and on and on.

Like...I got a new Laptop! And I'm typing from it now! ^^
Can I say it's taking a bit of getting use to? Because it is. Like...my leg keeps imagining that it's getting hot...because it's used to my old laptop's fan getting hot. This one though...has no fan. O.o So I'm having like...imaginary 'hot flashes' from the other laptop. O.o
There, but not forgotten. lol. *shakes head*

But you know the oddest thing I got?
An Amazon gift card. O.o

lol Why do I consider this odd?
Because well...I've never gotten one before.
...I'm not quite sure what to do with it. What to buy with it. I'm afraid of buying the wrong thing actually. O.o Honestly...I've given these to family in the past, but I've never got one for myself before. O.o What do I do with it?!!?

Buy something of course. I just need to figure out which thing to buy..... :S Choices. Choices. Choices. AAAAHHHHH!!!!...

^^ lol
Yes, the next few days should be fun. ^^ Weeeeee

I'll be watching the leaves.
Enjoy the day!

The Dream

I was walking past this path..in a tunnel maybe? But it was a path with green plants and such, when I happened to look over and see a whole bunch of old gold and silver coins laying in a puddle of water...a stream? I started excavating them, worried that I wasn't going to be able to keep them....

When the unholy tones of daylight pulled me away....
and I became myself again. :)

Almost Skipped...

There's an unofficial tradition in my neighborhood.
I think it's traditionally a tradition in most neighborhoods,
Where, before Christmas, the neighbors start giving gifts to each other.
Usually it's food. Cookies, bread, cheese ball (oh how I love that cheese ball ^^) among other things. :)
It's a fun tradition, one where it has it's moments in 'liking it'

My family has done various things in the past. From homemade suckers to fruit baskets and nuts.

But one of my favorite memories involves a moment when we didn't give.

You see, each year we have a set of houses we give stuff to. Depending on funds, time,  and who's already given us gifts, we give presents in return. As well to most of the houses on our street.

But one year, we decided to skip a house that hadn't given us anything in return (that I can recall) since we first started leaving stuff for them on their door.
I don't remember the reasoning behind why we decided to forgo giving a gift... maybe the one stated above, maybe something completely different.

That year. We skipped their house.
And, to our surprise.
They actually reached out to us and gave us a gift.
O.o
Seriously, we were surprised.

lol and of course we scrambled to give them a return gift. -luckily we had extras of whatever we were giving that year. For which I'm extremely grateful. I dislike not being able to reciprocate gifts in return.

And since that one year,
they have continued to give us a neighbor gift each Christmas. ^^

It's been awesome really.
I mean, my family hardly ever...if almost never interacts with this home. I know very little about them. Beyond their name, and who lives in the house.
-And that their driveway makes a great runway to get your bike going really fast down the street...

Yet, every Christmas, we take the time to give each other a little something.
And it seriously brightens my day. ^^
lol Since that one year I've made sure that we've included them in the list.

I mean, our gifts must mean something to them,
It's probably something they look forward to each year.
As when we don't do our neighbor gifts in a timely fashion, they've tended to fuel the 'we must send out neighbor gifts!' passion. At least for me.

It's just made me think...that sometimes, little acts. Like giving a plate of fruit or suckers to a quiet home in the neighborhood, can mean the world to someone.
It also is a lesson to me, that even if it appears we're getting nothing in return...it's a good idea to continue to give to others.

This story ends happily because they were spurred into action that one year. To give back to us.
But, what would have happened if they hadn't been?
Would our gifts to them be a forgotten joy?
One thought fleetingly, wishingly about every Christmas time?
Would we have given them a gift next year? Or written them off?

Who knows.
But I do know that, that didn't happen.
We've continued exchanging gifts.

And I think it brings joy to both sides. ^^ Happiness, Smiles.
"They remembered us!" I'm sure both sides exclaim. :)

It's a great feeling. One I hope to continue for years to come. ^^

Merry Christmas Eve everyone!

Until you next see these words;
I'll be watching the leaves.
Enjoy the day!

The Dream

...involved a tree house. Building one? Wanting one? I don't remember, but I do know that we had to wander through our whole backyard to try and find the perfect tree, and the guy looking to build first thought that one of our Almond trees was great, until he realized it was a split trunk, and that would make it unstable. Then he went to the busy hazelnut tree -so me and my dad thought, suggesting we build there. I didn't like that idea, it wasn't a 'tree house' location in my mind, but the guy had actually meant the huge pepper tree we had in between the almond and hazelnut trees. (that we don't actually have) and that it was perfect for building in...which he commenced building...

Then the unholy tones of daylight pulled me away....
and I became myself again. :)

October 1997 General Conference Priesthood Session

M. Russell Ballard -Standing for Truth and Right
  • It may not always be easy, convenient, or politically correct to stand for truth and right, but it is always the right thing to do. Always.
  • Standing for truth and right is not solely a Sunday thing.
  • If we are not careful, today's secret combinations can obtain power and influence just as quickly and just as completely as they did in Book of Mormon times.
  • Many of you young men of the Aaronic Priesthood may find yourselves on the front line of a battle against those who intend to do things that are morally wrong. I do not believe that you can stand for truth and right while wearing anything that is unbecoming one who holds the Priesthood of God.
  • I know it is sometimes hard to stand for truth and right. Yet we need to be positive examples if we are to help others find a better way.
  • Dealing with crime is very complex. However, there are some simple things that we can do in our day to prevent others from drifting toward gangs and crime. We can avoid the temptation of being cliquish at school or at church. All of us can refrain from finding fault or alienating anyone by our words or actions. Nothing is more hurtful than to feel left out or made fun of. therefore, we must never do anything that may drive others toward being accepted by a gang because they feel rejected by us.
  • Make friends with your neighbors, watch out for each other.
Keith B. McMullin -"Behold the Man"
  • Hold fast.
  • Those who are "faithful unto the obtaining these two priesthoods ... and the magnifying their calling ... become ... the church and kingdom, and the elect of God."
  • The world uses age as a means of defining one's readiness for manhood.
  • The world also uses age to establish when a man is sufficiently wise and responsible to vote, to make contracts, to be held fully and legally accountable. We call this the age of majority, the time when one ceases to be a minor.
  • Because youth and age are so visible in the Aaronic Priesthood, we could mistakenly assume they somehow determine the powers and effectiveness of this priesthood. Remember, please remember: In the Church, it is worthiness and the power of God that qualify men for the work. Expectation, opportunity, and service contribute more to one's growth than do birthdays. In the kingdom of God, the age of majority begins with ordination.
  • How we view him has a bearing on how he views himself
  • In the eyes of God, there is more power and authority in the hand of an Aaronic Priesthood bearer than there is among all of the world's rich, famous, and influential people. Their works will end; his will not.
James E. Faust -Pioneers of the Future: "Be Not Afraid, Only Believe"
  • Become pioneers of the future.
  • Action is inhibited by fear.
  • Seeking acceptance from the wrong source brought untold misery and pain.
  • We can overcome all of our fears, not all at once, but one at a time. As we do so we will grow in confidence.
  • Believing involves faith and good works. We cannot be passive; we must actively avoid evil.
  • Families in this day and time should not only avoid evil but avoid the very appearance of evil.
  • How corrosive is the daily diet of pornography, immorality, dishonesty, disrespect, abuse, and violence that comes from so many sources. If we are not careful it will shake our spiritual moorings. Once we internalize these evils, it is very difficult to purge ourselves of them.
  • The brain won't vomit back filth. Once recorded, it will always remain subject to recall.
  • My dear brethren, all of us, young and old, must constantly guard against the enticements of Satan.
  • We are the pioneers of the future. Let us go forth like the armies of Helaman and build the kingdom of God. like the royal army, let us be "united, bold, and strong, ... marching forth to conquer on life's great battlefields."
Thomas S. Monson -Home Teaching-- a Divine Service
  • "Where the President is, there is strength, and to know that he is with us and is presiding is a strength to the entire Church."
  • In performing home teaching responsibilities, we are wise if we learn and  understand the challenges of the members of each family. A home teaching visit is also more likely to be successful if an appointment is made in advance.
  • "If you would win a man to your cause, first convince him that you are his sincere friend."
  • "Above all, be a genuine friend to the individuals and families you teach."
  • A friend cares. A friend loves. A friend listens. And a friend reaches out.
  • "People are somewhat like the coals of a fire. Should they absent themselves from the warmth and spirit of the active church membership, they will not contribute to the whole, but in their isolation will be changed. As with the embers removed from the heat of the fire, as they distance themselves from the intensity of the spirit generated by the active membership, they will lose that warmth and spirit."
  • "People are more important than the embers of a fire."
  • Live not to be served, but to serve; not to receive, but to give.
Gordon B. Hinckley -Some Thoughts on Temples, Retention of Converts, and Missionary Service
  • We are determined, brethren, to take the temples to the people and afford them every opportunity for the very precious blessings that come of temple worship.
  • There are people who are joining the Church against the advice of friends and family. This is a big step for them, and they should be supported at this critical time.
  • You cannot disregard the converts.
  • Walk in the sunlight, strength, and virtue of self-control and of absolute integrity.
  • Education is the key that unlocks the door of opportunity.
  • I say what has been said before, that missionary work is essentially a priesthood responsibility. As such, our young men must carry the major burden. This is their responsibility and their obligation.
  • We do not ask the young women to consider a mission as an essential part of their life's program. Over a period of many years, we have held the age level higher for them I an effort tot keep the number going relatively small. Again to the sisters I say that you will be as highly respected, you will be considered as being as much in line of duty, your efforts will be as acceptable to the Lord and to the Church whether you go on a mission or do not go on a mission.
  • I certainly do not wish to say or imply that their services are not wanted. I simply say that a mission is not necessary as a part of their lives.
  • May you look upon the Church as your great and good friend, you refuge when the world appears to be closing around you, your hope when things are dark, your pillar of fire by night and your cloud by day as you thread the pathways of your lives.
Until you next read these words
I'll be watching the leaves.

The Dream

I was at work, dealing with all the crazy customers, and our shipment of bugs and reptiles had just come in, a towering monstrosity that was nearly double my height. And then to add to it, my manager got a call saying that the corporation had decided that our store needed to change locations, and move down the street to where the old Banfield hospital had been. Now. Immediately. I couldn't understand it, why were we suddenly being forced to move when our location had been great before. Plus, I was totally left at a loss of what to do with the bugs and reptiles. They couldn't stay in their boxes indefinitely, but if we were moving...they wouldn't do well with the cold, and besides, none of the mangers were telling me what our plan was. Were we moving right then? Or later?

Then the unholy tones of daylight pulled me away...
and I became myself again. :)

Able to 'See'

My family has a gift.
For guessing gifts.

Particularly my Father and my Brother.
Seriously, it's like they look at the present and they know. O.o Even if you hide it in something that looks totally nothing like it. They know. O.o Crazy!

Well, tonight, I was able to channel this little gift.
When me, Kikay and friends did a little gift exchange.

Lol it was with nearly every present that I would get it in my hands and go "Oh, it's this."
And then I'd open it.
And it would be that!!

O.o Totally crazy!
But fun.
But crazy! :D

And the gifts were all totally awesome!! ^^ Hehe.
I can't wait to use/wear them. ^^

A Soon Farewell?

It hit me today.
That I won't be typing on my current laptop for much longer.
I mean... Christmas is nearly upon us!
And I'm getting a new laptop. O.o
I've known this for a month, but now it's practically here!

What am I going to do?
This laptop has been my buddy for years now.
Yet, on Christmas Day, I might never turn it on again.
The new laptop may take over everything.

I'm really undecided how I should feel about this.
Though I bet I'll turn on my laptop....
If I need ITunes, or two computers on at once.
We'll see. :)

For now, I'll enjoy these last few days with just me and my laptop. ^^;;

Until you next read these words;
I'll be watching the leaves.
Enjoy the day!

The Dream

I was a farmer of a large crop of big dandelion white puffs, it was a major crop but from out of the sky came a giant black airplane with side helicopter blade thing and revving it's engines blew all the white dandelion puffs away, with the exception of one small bedraggled plant that I had managed to save. I ended up in a court room, trying to convince the 'big government' to let us have our crops back, but they were refusing to do so because they were going to do something with mud and producing that and they were trying to get me to give them the last dandelion puff....

Then the unholy tones daylight pulled me away....
and I became myself again. :)

Stocking Mayhem

My roommates can be rather amusing at times.
Last night, was no exception.

What happened?
Well, Lesha was stressing out a bit.
She had a major final to study for, homework still, and packing to do.
I could sense the stress coming off her in waves.
The worry.
The 'how am I going to do this?!' sort of aura.

So I decided that I needed to take it down a notch, and relax her.

How?

I brought out the Christmas Stockings.
I got my roomies presents and put them in stockings.
I was going to wait until this morning to give them.
But I figured the time was right for last night.

So I brought them out.
And they pulled out a variety of things,
But the highlight was when they pulled out the mini Nerf Guns I got them.

-If you've seen Men In Black, it's basically the size of that 'cricket' gun.

They saw those, and both of my roomies faces light up.
What happened next?

They proceeded to race to see who could get their guns out of the packaging and shoot the other first.

Lol totally hysterical.
and Lesha won.

Haha totally a fun moment to see. We all were laughing like crazy.

And that little Nerf Gun?
Totally has a lot of power. Just like the MIB cricket gun.
It shoots further, faster, and hits with more force then the bigger semi automatic Nerf Guns my roomies already have.

Hehe.
Moral of the story?
Don't count out the little guy.
He packs a punch. :)

Until you next see these words;
I'll be watching the leaves.
Enjoy the day!

You Should Stay

I remember a critical time in my life and how grateful I was when a still, small voice gave me direction to make an important decision.
I had been with a retail firm for a number of years.
We had enjoyed extraordinary success.
We wanted to expand the business but needed a great deal of capital.
In an attempt to raise the money, we contacted the best financial advisers we could find.
They encouraged us to merge with a larger firm.
The merger was successfully completed, and I was asked to sign a five-year contract to give continuity to management.
Within a mater of months I found myself in a very difficult situation.
The new owners wanted me to violate a trust that I felt I just could not do.
After long discussions, they continued to insist and I continued to refuse.
Seeing there was no way to break this deadlock, I agreed to leave the company.
The timing for me was devastating.
I had a wife who was seriously ill and required a lot of medical attention, a daughter away to college, and a son on a mission.
I spent the next year just getting enough consulting work to pay my expenses.

After struggling for about one year, a company called me from California and invited me to come out and talk to them about working for them.
I went out and negotiated a very good contract; I was delighted with the opportunity.
I told them that I had to return home and discuss it with my family before I could give an answer.
I returned home and after a careful discussion, I convinced my family that it was the right thing to do.
In the process of calling the firm to accept the offer, a voice just as strong and powerful as I have ever heard came to me and said, "Say no to the offer."
I could not ignore the voice, so I turned the offer down, but I was distressed.
I could not comprehend why I had been told to do such a thing.
I went upstairs to my bedroom, sat on the bed, opened the scriptures, and they fell open tot he Doctrine and Covenants, section 111.
This was the only section given in the state of Massachusetts, where my home was at that particular time.
These words literally jumped out of the page and met my eye:

"Concern not yourselves about your debts, ... I will give you power to pay them. ...

"Tarry in this place, and in the regions round about."

A great peace came to my soul.
Within just a few days I was offered a fine position in Boston.
A few months later I had the great privilege of hosting a conference in which President Harold B. Lee, then First Counselor in the First Presidency, was the featured speaker.
The conference was a glorious success as we feasted on the words of President Lee.
The following July, President Joseph  Fielding Smith passed away and President Lee became the prophet.
Three months later I was asked to come to Salt Lake, where I received a call to leave my profession and join the General Authorities.

I have often wondered what would have happened if I had not heeded the Holy Spirit in its counseling me not to leave Boston.

The Dream

There was a crime that needed to be solved, but nobody had any answers, or suspects. It was completely wide open. So who came back from the dead to solve the case? Sherlock of course. He showed up at Watson's house. Watson, was at first angry, but then laughing and slapping Sherlock on the back like it was all a great joke before they set out to avoid being caught by the bad guys and of course, solve the crime.

Then the unholy tones of daylight pulled me away....
and I became myself again. :)

Mall Shopping

Whew.
Who knew that shopping could be so much more exhausting than working?
I certainly didn't.
Of course, I usually don't spend that much time shopping.
But today, I decided to get all the gifts I needed to get.
Since after today shopping will probably only get crazier.
At first, I was just wandering around, didn't buy anything at the first couple of stops. Which was frustrating, because I thought I would, and it's depressing when you don't.
Or when the game plan has to change when you can't find what you were looking for in the first place.
But then I got really into it.
Literally, I ended up in a perfume shop and I'm sure those fragrances have permeated my coat. *shakes head* lol
And then, when I couldn't find the one thing I wanted to...I just started to flag.
Needless to say. I'm really glad that I'm finally home. A little poorer, but with most of my gifts bought. ^^ Woot!
Hopefully I won't need to do this again anytime soon.
Though I did find it interesting.
That every year, I seem to find everything I need to get in one store. It's totally crazy.
This year, it was Barnes and Noble.
Last year, it was Hobby Lobby.
Who knows what it will be next year. :)

The Dream

I was about to head to bed as it was super early in the morning, when my next door neighbor Mandi, dropped by and asked if I wanted to come to a performance at the local school with her. I said sure, and went, and we ended up staying up all night, I ran into my mother and brother in the audience, and my mom was like "What are you doing here! You need to get some sleep." And I was like "I'm okay." It was 11:30am at this point. "I can stay up." But she and my brother disagreed. They told me there wasn't any reason for me to be there, and that I wasn't going to miss anything. After confirming this with Mandi, and took my family's advice and headed back home to sleep. I ended up waking up around 8 or 9pm with the realization that I hadn't accomplished anything -namely Christmas shopping- that I'd planned for my day off. Instead I'd slept the day away.
There was an old gravestone near a park..amusement park maybe? That had the name of a brother on it. His surviving brother went to the gravestone to take a picture with him. Then in the visual of a series of photographs, the scene changed, showing the brother in the same spot, smiling, but a cactus appeared, growing bigger and bigger, eventually covering the gravestone. The cactus had a face on it, that probably of the deceased brother. And as the cactus grew, it grew into the living brother, sneakily moving in under the clothes, somehow growing into the skin. At first the living brother didn't realize, but as the images progressed his facial expression became a bit pained and he tried to fight it. But by then it was too late. Until the cactus stood there with the living brother's head among it's many 'branches' until in the end just stood the cactus. I was able to flip back and forth between the pictures and change my view point so I could see a frontal and a back view of the change and just how the cactus managed to make this living brother apart of it.
I ended up in a school, we were in groups of three doing presentations. My group consisted of myself, Ryan Kent, and a younger version of my Aunt Anna. and we had to do three different short scenes depicting a scene from three books/movies that we'd learned. I was the princess from Sleeping Beauty, Ryan -my prince, and Aunt Anna was part of a different story. We hadn't realized that we actually needed to act out scenes, and so hadn't prepared that, but when a different group went up to also perform a scene from Sleeping Beauty we had to scramble to make things work. Where Ryan and I would do the dancing scene at the end of the movie, and then Anna and I would do a tap dance of the 'first meeting' from the story she was in, and...idr what Anna and Ryan were going to do, but we had to change the plan when Ryan said that he had to leave early, and so Taylor Mill was going to jump in and help, so he and I were going to do the musical number, then he and Anna would do the dance scene, but I had no idea how Anna and I could do a scene together my mind went blank between us and I feared we were going to fail because of that...

But then the unholy tones of daylight pulled me away....
and I became myself again. :)

Musical Joy

There are times when I come across random videos that just make me smile.
And because I've been craving the piano recently,
this particular video was a singular joy to watch. lol
I would have loved to be there in person to see all of the piano's antics with the piano.
It seems like it would have been a fun use of time. ^^
Hope you enjoy!

October 1997 General Conference Saturday Afternoon

James E. Faust -The Sustaining of Church Officers

Neal A. Maxwell -"Apply the Atoning Blood of Christ"
  • We are to press forward, whatever the length of the near horizon, while rejoicing in what awaits us on the far horizon.
  • Alas, as Church members we sometimes behave like hurried tourists, scarcely venturing beyond the entry point.
  • Intensification can be part of tutoring. Otherwise we may be like superficial students comfortably coasting and merely auditing a course. Then comes the intensifying moment: we suddenly find ourselves enrolled for credit, and it's pass or fail!
  • Strange as it seems, we sometimes respond better to larger challenges than to the incessant small ones.
  • One can be sincerely grateful for his major blessings but regularly murmur over minor irritations. One can have humility that is hierarchical: being humble up, but not humble down. Enduring large tests while failing the seemingly small quizzes just won't do. Such shortcomings must be addressed if we are really serious about becoming more like Jesus.
Robert D. Hales -In Remembrance of Jesus
  • The universe is virtually incomprehensible to man.
  • "I will call you friends, for you are my friends."
  • Light and darkness cannot occupy the same space at the same time. Where the light of Christ is found, the darkness of Lucifer, even Satan, must depart, defeated. May we follow the light and choose the right.
  • We have not been left alone. We have the light of Christ and the Holy Ghost to lead and guide us in an otherwise very dark and dreary world.
Richard D. Allred -The Lord Blesses His Children through Patriarchal Blessings
  • "Patriarchal blessings contemplate an inspired declaration of the lineage of the recipient. A patriarchal blessing also includes an inspired and prophetic statement of the life possibilities and mission of the recipient. It may include such blessings, promises, advice, admonitions, and warnings as the patriarch may be prompted to give. It should always be made clear that the realization of all promised blessings is conditioned upon faithfulness and the Lord's will."
  • Patriarchal blessings are a guideline or similar to a road map that indicates the paths that may be traveled and destinations that may be reached if we stay within those paths. They may bring comfort and joy and encouragement when we have need to look, to listen, and to feel of the contents of these blessings so that we may go forward on life's journey, not alone, but with the accompanying Spirit of our Father in Heaven.
Eran A. Call -The Home: A Refuge and Sanctuary
  • The home is being threatened and challenged more today than ever before.
  • There is no public morality without private virtue.
  • "The greatest of the Lord's work you brethren will ever do as fathers will be within the walls of your own home."
Richard J. Maynes -A Celestial Connection to Your Teenage Years
  • If you want to reach your potential in the future, if you want to become the person the Lord wants you to be, you had better work on it today, because it is a true principle that we become what we do.
  • It is very likely that a goal or vision not connected to everyday life by specific action will become just another unrealized dream with nothing more than hope to support it.
  • The little things that confound the wise also confound Satan.
  • It will ultimately be your love of the Lord which will help you commit and then stay true to your celestial daily plan.
Joseph B. Wirthlin -Valued Companions
  • "Motherhood is near to Divinity. It is the highest, holiest service to be assumed by mankind. It places her who honors its holy calling and service next to the angels."
  • In bearing testimony and establishing truth, two are better than one.
  • As a caring touch comforts a frightened child in the night, so the warmth of the Holy Ghost can touch our hearts and calm our fears. As the soothing voice of a loving parent can quiet the crying babe, the whisperings of Spirit can hush the nagging worries of our lives.
  • For all the blessings of righteous companionship, there are also dangers and evils of falling in with bad company.
  • We are often judged by the company we keep.
  • Our most common English expression of farewell is the word "good-bye" and this came to us over the years as a contraction for the expression "God be with you." In  day when people recognized our dependence on God more publicly, this wonderful phrase was used at times of departure to express love. It is still a sweet expression invoking the companionship of God during periods of separation. The phrase "good-bye," then, when fully understood, means, "If we can't be together, if we must part, if I can't be with you--then may God be with you."
Richard G. Scott -Why Every Member a Missionary?
  • "Therefore, ... let us cheerfully do all things that lie in our power; and then may we stand still, with the utmost assurance, to see the salvation of God, and for his arm to be revealed."
  • Not everyone can be a full-time missionary. If you can, do it. If not, seek other ways to serve that meet your present circumstances.
  • "Missionary work is not limited to proclaiming the gospel to ... people now living on the earth. [It] is also continuing beyond the veil among [those] who have died either without hearing the gospel or without accepting it while they lived on the earth. Our great part ... is to perform on this earth the ordinances required for those who accept the gospel over there. ... I hope to see us dissolve the artificial boundary line ... between missionary work and temple and genealogical work, because it is the same great redemptive work!"
  • Church service has always been based on an inspired call rather than volunteerism.

Little Roommate Quirk Annoyances

I've decided long ago, that there are some aspects to my roommates that I'll never comprehend.
I mean, I've had roommates that are similar to them in the past, so I kinda know what to expect from them, but I don't understand why they do what they do.

For example.
The Kitchen.
A place of wonderful food smells, creativity, and a merry environment.
But also a place of dirty dishes and messes.

My roommate, is one of those people who doesn't like a 'dirty' apartment.
Which would include dishes in the sink, stuff on the table, etc.

She will say "Sorry for the mess."
When honestly, I doubt anyone would notice that it was 'messy'
As technically it's pretty clean.
So there are dishes in the sink, a couple of things on the counter.
That's pretty typical in my book of a kitchen.
But she...I think prefers the 'magazine' look of a home.
Which is just super annoying and stressful in my opinion.

I mean, the kitchen is pretty clean, the floors -of the nearby living room- aren't covered in random art projects. If you can see most of the floor, and use nearly all of our sitting space without having to move stuff around, surely it's clean.

Having a roommate that has 'higher standards' isn't what bugs me. I know how they work, why they work, and honestly I've just become a bit numb to the whole thing.
"Oh look my roommate has rearranged the living room again." "Oh look, my stuff has been moved from one place to another place."
It's pretty normal when I come home to find that.

However.
There are little things that bug me.

1. Putting stuff away in random spots without telling me where they placed it.
I don't mind you moving my stuff, but if I have to ask you where you stuck it....it's a problem.
Often times I don't ask. There are few places to put certain objects, but when I do. I don't like it.

2. Placing stuff in the doorway of my bedroom.
Seriously, couldn't you walk in three more steps and place them on my bed or on my desk?
(I honestly don't know if I would like them doing this either, probably not.)
But I really don't like it all being left in my doorway like a 'present that nobody wanted.'
I'm sure one of these days I'm going to come home and not see the item, step on it, and break it.
It's more annoying when it's not even my stuff. *rolls eyes* -The problems with having a bunch of inheritance from older roommates left in the apartment. If my two current roommates know it's not theirs, they assume it's mine. Texting would probably be an easier method. "Hey, Sarnic, we found these two sponges -yellow and blue- in the kitchen, are they yours?" "Nope. Old roommate's." "Okay." Instead of leaving them like a orphan baby at my doorstep.

And then today's annoyance. 3.
I opened up my food cupboard to find that my roommate had stuck a couple of dirty dishes in there.
DIRTY DISHES. Sure they're mine. But seriously. AMONG MY FOOD? Just stick the dirty dishes where the clean ones are or something. I get that they're mine, I get that I need to clean them. But stick them in the sink, or in a pile on the counter, or even in the dishwasher for candy cane's sake. I once had a roommate who'd stick them in the oven. (hers not mine).
I don't place their dirty dishes in their food cupboards! (of course, they do their dishes. The problems of hating that chore I suppose.)
And the annoying thing was...I can't do anything about it right away because we had company about to descend upon us. And with a dishwasher already full of clean dishes, and a sink my roommate wanted crystal clean, and no space in the 'clean dishes' in their cupboards, I just left them there, for now.
But oh, when said company leaves, I think I'm going to have a little talk with my 'clean' roommate. (which I'm sure will involve "Well, Do Your Dishes Sarnic!" on my end of things.)
Honestly though, why my food cupboard?

To Do Or Not To Do

There are some days at work, where I feel like whether I 'do' or I 'don't'...somebody above me isn't going to be happy.

It's the sort of thing where I'm told to 'take initiative'
But when I try to take initiative...I'm told "you're not supposed to worry about that." or "don't do that now, do this instead."

It's rather frustrating, and really, a double edge sword.

As often, I can take initiative, but then what was alright an hour ago, is suddenly not alright now.

It's a good thing I'm rather easy going, and can let most things just roll off my shoulders, otherwise, work would be more frustrating then it is.
At this point, it's a 'well...okay, I'll go do that." sort of shrug.
As I understand, others can get stressed, others can get cranky when they're hungry, or sleep deprived, or stressed.

But seriously, I feel like I can't win no matter what I do.
So, I'll just do what I do, to the best of my abilities and hope that I can figure out exactly when to and not to take initiative at work.

I'll be watching the leaves.

Icicles

I was driving around HomeTown with my dad today,
and I couldn't help noticing,
all the icicles hanging from the roofs of the homes we were passing.

Seriously, I couldn't stop noticing them.

I think it's because we had such a heavy snowfall this last storm,
that everything is still covered in snow.
And the icicles, have had a lot of time to grow pretty big.
there were some nearly reaching the ground of their respective properties.
So cool!
I just wanted to stop and take pictures of them all...though the people who live in the houses covered in icicles may think me rather odd if I did that.
So, I just appreciated from a distance.
^^ Awesome. Awesome.
Now, if only I could convince Icicles to grow on the balcony above my apartment so I could enjoy them all the time in college town. :)

A Way Inside

Some years ago, some close friends of ours loaned us their cabin in Island Park, Idaho.
When we arrived at the cabin, we found that the key that we had been given to unlock the front door didn't work.
We tried to undo windows and pry open screens, all to no avail.

Suddenly our son Steven, who was about seven years old at the time, shouted to us that he had just successfully opened the front door.
Steven, with a big grin on his face, was standing triumphantly inside the front doorway.
I was amazed.
I asked him how he did that.

He responded with wonderful, childlike spontaneity: "I bowed my head and prayed.
When I looked up, my eyes spotted this big rock by the front steps, and I thought, 'There is a key under that rock.'
And sure enough there it was."
The prayer of a child had been heard.
I thank the Lord for his mother who had taught him to find keys I moments of crisis.

A New Drink

I had a taste of something new today from a new place I hadn't been to before.

Starbucks.
Yah. My coworkers went on a Starbucks run, and brought me back...

A White Hot Chocolate.

Which is basically...hot chocolate. But made with White Chocolate.

As I don't like regular hot chocolate.
But I love White Chocolate...
I thought I'd give this 'White Hot Chocolate' a try.

I really still can't decide if I like it or not. lol.

I love the taste of white chocolate.
But the feel of hot liquid running down my throat...*shudders*
It just didn't feel right to my throat.
I'm guessing...it's because this White Hot Chocolate also contained Milk, and Whip Cream.
....two things I don't like the taste of.

So perhaps that's why my taste buds were at war with me.
I love White Chocolate.
But milk, that's what I was probably tasting before the flavors hit my mouth. And I really don't like the texture of it.

In the end.
It was good, but definitely not something I'll take again. O.o
I mean...warm milk? *shudders* No amount of White Chocolate can make that too good.

When You Think It Won't Happen....

I should learn to never assume 'something won't happen.'
Because the moment I do so....it happens.

I call it 'over confidence.' or Pride...or whatever.
The thought that 'this can't happen to me.'
Yah. Once you think that, it's totally going to happen.

Example.
Today I was cleaning out hamster cages.
And I stuck my gloved hands in there to pick up the hamsters with the thought.
"These guys don't bite, I'm fine."
Guess what one hamster did.
Yep. It bit me.
Don't worry, the glove took all teeth. My finger remains untorn.

But still.
Why does that happen?
It's like we just sat ourselves up for failure.

Note to self:
Don't tell yourself that nothing won't happen.
That's when they GET YOU!!!

;) lol

October 1997 General Conference Saturday Morning

Gordon B. Hinckley -Drawing Nearer to the Lord
  • At this time I wish only to invite the Spirit of the Lord to be with us as we go forward with another great conference. May all who speak be inspired in their remarks. May the prayers lift our thoughts to high and sacred levels. May the music bring beauty and spiritual nourishment to each of us.
Boyd K. Packer -Called to Serve
  • I see two kinds of service: one, the service we render when we are called to serve in the Church; the other, the service we willingly give to those around us because we are taught to care.
  • An unselfish spirit is essential to happiness.
  • Leaders should be very sure that a call to serve in the Church will not weaken the family.
  • We serve where we are called. It does not matter what the calling may be.
  • In the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, one takes the place to which one is duly called, which place one neither seeks nor declines.
  • The spirit of service does not come by assignment. it is a feeling that accompanies a testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Richard B. Wirthlin -Four Absolute Truths Provide an Unfailing Moral Compass
  • The stresses and strains that assault us cannot be attributed to a lack of knowledge.
  • But unfortunately, the explosive increase in information has not led to a parallel increase in true wisdom.
  • Many have referred to the current era as the information age. But it is ironic that, in an information-rich era, the biggest threat to our world's societies, rich or poor, and to each of us personally is the absence of moral clarity and purpose.
  • The first absolute truth is that there is a loving Father in Heaven, and His Son, Jesus Christ, is our personal Savior--a more certain truth than any worldly fact.
  • The second absolute truth is that there is an adversary, Satan, the tempter, who would lead us away from God and His infinite peace.
  • Satan, "the father of lies," increasingly uses various devices, ancient and modern, to confuse us. He would convince us that joy is not where it is. And contrarily, he would have us believe that joy is where it is not. One of Satan's most spiritually damaging lies which undermines our sense of self-worth and hope is that we cannot be forgiven of our sins.
  • The third absolute truth is that all of us choose our own course, endowed by agency.
  • "Sow a thought, and you reap an act; sow an act, and you reap a habit; sow a habit, and you reap a character; sow a character, and you reap a destiny.
  • Given your agency, we are therefore individually responsible for our ideas, acts, habits, character, and, yes, even our destiny.
  • The fourth absolute truth is that the temptations of the devil can always be overcome by renewed faith in God and by repentance.
  • Life will bring to each of us challenges and setbacks-both dark days and better ones.
Carl B. Pratt- Care for New Converts
  • No one culture, people, or country has a corner on love, warmth, or kindness.
  • Brothers and sisters, we have the richest blessings that God can give to His children. We have the fullness of the gospel of Jesus Christ. We ought to be the most open, friendly, happy, kind, considerate, thoughtful, loving people in the whole world.
  • When we detect a halting step or a stumble as they begin their journey on the gospel path, let us be there to lift an support with words of kindness and concern. let us be available to give gentle, loving counsel that will strengthen and sustain.
Mary Ellen Smoot -Pioneer Shoes through the Ages
  • "I'm so excited! Just give me my marching orders. I'm ready to go."
  • My desire is to plead with our sisters to stop worrying about a phone call or a quarterly or monthly visit, and whether that will do, and concentrate instead on nurturing tender souls. Our responsibility is to see that the gospel flame continues to burn brightly. Our charge is to find the lost sheep and help them feel our Savior's love.
  • Seek for 'the things of a better."
  • "No matter if a tree grows to more than a thousand feet in height, each leaf, each day, must return to its roots for nourishment."
  • Pioneer women did not have time to wallow in discouragement. They were too busy working their way toward Zion.
  • "I have not the most distant idea [of returning], neither has Nathan ... , our cause is just and must be onward. ... I did not embrace this work hastily; I came into it understandingly. I weighed the subject, I counted the cost, I knew the consequence of every step I took."
Russell M. Nelson -Spiritual Capacity
  • We must never lose sight of the Savior's enduring standard as the ultimate for each of us.
  • Nothing is too hard for the Lord.
  • Love of learning is catalyzed by curiosity.
  • Learn from others.
  • "I will impart unto you of my Spirit, which shall enlighten your mind ... [and] fill your soul with joy."
  • Make choices that will "give us growth and joy in this life and eternal life in the world to come."
  • "Yes, this work requires sacrifice," he said. "It requires effort, it means courage to speak out and faith to try. ... It needs men and women of solemn purpose." "We know that there are some limits on what you can do, but we know also that there need be no limits on enthusiasm, planning, thoughtful consideration, and effort."
Thomas S. Monson -Teach the Children
  •  The parent who procrastinates the pursuit of his responsibility as a teacher may,  in years to come, gain bitter insight into Whittier's expression: "Of all sad words of tongue or pen, / The saddest are these: 'It might have been!'"
  • "The newborn child is almost an exact duplicate of an empty computer, although superior to such a computer in almost every way. ... What is placed in the child's brain during the first eight years of his life is probably there to stay. If you put misinformation into his brain during this period, it is extremely  difficult to erase it.
  • Children learn through gentle direction and persuasive teaching. They search for models to imitate, knowledge to acquire, things to do, and teachers to please.
  • First, teach prayer.
  • Next, inspire faith.
  • Third, live truth.
  • Finally, honor God.
  • Children now bless our lives, kindle our love, and prompt good deeds.
  • "Despite all new inventions and modern designs, fads and fetishes, no one has yet invented, or will ever invent, a satisfying substitute for one's own family."
  • Sadness and sorrow at times come to all, including children. But children are resilient. They bear up beautifully to shoulder the burden they may be called upon to endure. Perhaps the lovely psalm describes this virtue: "Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning."
  • "There are angels among us." These angels are quite frequently the precious little ones God, our Father, has entrusted to our earthly care.
Until you next read these words;
I'll be watching the leaves.
Enjoy the day!

The Dream

I was at work, trying to get something done before Reth figured out I hadn't done it, and it was difficult to get from the back room to the front as we were already opened without the customers realizing it. I came across a blonde girl I'd known from high school. She was...boring. Which was surprising because if you'd seen her in high school, you would have thought she'd been rich and famous. But due to an event at a party, she ended up on a path to marry the most boring guy ever, and because of that she 'lost herself' and became so boring you could hardly recognize her. I (as the main character from Radio Rebel) ended up going back in time to help her end up on the path that she was actually meant to be on, with the help of my crush, our family enemy's  son. We had a feud going on between them but I don't know why. In the end, he and I found this magic ball of string, and when with each knot we tied, something magical happened. The first, the girl found the guy she wanted, another was to end the feud between our families, and we used the last knot...to make my reddish hair straight.

Then the unholy tones of daylight pulled me away....
and I became myself again. :)
