A Day in Review - March 31st

Tuesday, March 31st 2009

- It was another typical school day for me, between classes I checked out the artwork I'd submitted into the Institute Art contest. It still wasn't damaged. ^^ (This is a big deal because in Elementary School at least once a year a piece of work of mine -art- would be destroyed. The worry still exists it will happen again.) I also went to the Cashier's Office and paid $80.00 to join the PTK today too. I spent much time over at my friend Kristin's place after school because my internet wasn't working in my own apartment and worked on my ASL homework. It also wasn't helpful in my own apartment that my roommate Jackie was blasting her music super loud. It made it difficult to concentrate.

Wednesday, March 31st 2010

- I was woken up at 4am by my nose being super stuffed up and I was unable to go back to sleep. So I did some homework and cleaned up the floor and vacuumed in preparation for our floors to get cleaned by a professional crew. (I never understood why they did this before everyone moved out for the summer.) I drank lots of liquids and took some Tylenol and managed to feel well enough to go to school. (I was stubborn too.) My classes went well enough, it snowed again today and Elise gave me a ride when she saw me walking as she drove by. In my Sociology class Kristin gave me some Sudafed, and my friend Tiffany gave me an orange both of which helped a little, but also made me sleepy. In my ASL Linguistics class it was the day of my group project. I should have been more nervous than I was for it. (I hate group projects with a passion. I dislike working in groups.) We ended up teaching for like 5 minutes before the teacher took over for another 20 lol. Which was great. None of us were complaining. I ended up feeling better in my head by the end of the day but had a bit of a chest cough that still needed to get better.

Thursday, March 31st 2011

-I was woken up by my Mom this morning when she called me to warn me that the Insurance company was going to be calling me soon. (I wonder if this was when I accidentally backed into a car that was waiting in the parking lot of my apt....people shouldn't wait like that. >.<) So the day I could have slept in...I ended up not because I had to talk to them. I dropped the car off to Kikay before going to my Chemistry class. Basically everyday my Chemistry class had a morning quiz that worked via clickers (electronic answering devices) and Kikay took long enough that I was going to be late for that. So on my way to Chemistry and I pulled out my clicker and started pushing buttons so when I got into range I could answer the question straight off. ^^ It worked too! :D Did Anatomy Quiz corrections for my noon break before doing Anatomy homework. Had other classes, had more homework and my Law Society class before coming home. (It was a class that was once a week where we brought in different presenters to talk to us about aspects of law and ate lots of food.) I went to Dan's Paren'ts place with him for dinner. Came home and watched Beauty and the Beast with Kikay. :)

Saturday, March 31st 2012

-The cat that Meralto saw dead last night was not my cat Dove. :) She showed up later this afternoon asking for food. (Dove is a feral cat I tamed, she stays outside -still alive in 2015) However I know of only two other black cats in the neighborhood. :( I hope neither one of them was killed either. :( I spent the first session of General Conference at my friend Shane's place. -It was supposed to be a gathering of friends, but it ended up being me with his family. They were nice and provided me breakfast. ^^ Though his Dad ended up messing with the TV connection in the middle of President Packer's talk, so we lost a few minutes of it. Strangely enough I think something similar happened the year before during Packer's talk then as well. I gave my brother Meralto his present -a leather bracelet and his meteor (I think we were on vacation and he hadn't been able to go...his birthday isn't for a couple more months...) I think he really liked it. I worked on my 72 hour kit while watching the second session of conference, I really liked Elder Hollands' and Scott's talk. After conference I went outside and saw my neighbor Riva (she lived across the street, she passed away...in 2014 I think.) who needed someone to give her a ride to her daughter's house in Farmington. Having just watched Conference, I said I could do so, but first I needed to fill my car up with Gas. I managed to drop her off and get back home safely. It was very windy that day, strong enough to rock the car really. During the Priesthood session Mom and I went to Taco Bell and later I dropped by Baskin Robbins to visit my Cousin Chelsee, and to grab icecream for myself and my parents. :) I ended up running into my Cousin Kjersti as well. :)

Sunday, March 31st 2013

-I forgot to turn off my 5am alarm this morning so I was woken up 3 hours earlier than I wanted to be, but I managed to fall back asleep until 8am when I needed to get up and ready for church before I put my Easter gifts for Kikay out on the Washing machine and left her a chocolate trial to them. :) She in return had hidden 24 Easter eggs full of candy around the living room for me to find. ^^ So much fun. :) I went to my fellow LDSSA council member, Paulina's farewell. (She got back recently.) I took a short nap after getting back before going to my own ward. I got set apart as a ward missionary (I never did figure out what I was supposed to do in that calling, as I was never contacted regarding what to do by the mission leader.) for like a month...as I was moving out in April. We went to the Neffies for Dinner and we watched Rise of the Guardians. ^^ Love that movie. ^^ Plus I was able to work on writing. ^^

Monday, March 31st 2014

-Work was tiring today as I had to do a deeper clean on the cat cages because we were getting a new set of kitties in the same morning before our DM came into the store. Then I had to do Bird Bedding changes more quickly. I got the bedding done itself before the store opened but it took me another 45 minutes to finish up the windows and put everything back. And then at that point I ended up opening the rest of the department, besides the backrooms as Reth worked on other things, not sure what. After that point I brought out some new birds and hamsters. about that Time the DM showed up. I saw him but managed to avoid talking to him instead I stayed out of sight helping customers and doing dishes in the back before going to the back rooms once my coworker Ali got back from lunch so that I could scrub the case that holds all the bird cages until my shift was over. I grabbed groceries before coming home for a shower and a 3 hour nap before I went to FHE where we played a game. Bleh. Name Game. Not much fun.

Tuesday, March 31st 2014

-It was hectic at work today, because my 2nd opener called in sick. At first I thought I would be fine opening by myself, but after a little bit I realized that I couldn't do so because I'd had already pulled all the dishes from all the habitats to be cleaned, plus I had to clean cats, and do bedding changes...so I went back to my manager to say that it would be a good idea to see if anyone else could come in to cover my coworker's shift. As I was off earlier that day, and my next person wouldn't be coming in until after I'd left. I managed to get another coworker in, but until after the store had opened. I had her work on finishing dishes while I frantically tried to get bedding changes done. I managed to do so before I was off, while my coworker was left to finish opening the rest of the department. :S Oh well...it's one of those days where things just don't go well at work in the terms of getting things done. I hung out at home for a bit, before going to Institute class and grabbed Subway on the way home. :)

I'll be watching the leaves.
Enjoy the day!

April 2004 General Conference -Priesthood Meeting

Neal A. Maxwell -Remember How Merciful the Lord Hath Been
  • I do not know what lies ahead of you young men, but my advice would be to fasten your seat belts and hold on firmly to your principles!
  • Back then, in family, neighborhood, ward, and school life, we were all poor together, but we didn't know it. We made room for each other to grow, to make dumb mistakes, to repent, and to begin to develop at least some spiritual reflexes. Today, some anxious parents seem to insist on constantly pulling up the daisies to see how the roots are doing.
  • Young or old, my priesthood brothers, be grateful for people in your lives who love you enough to correct you, to remind you of your standards and possibilities, even when you don't want to be reminded.
  • "You could have gone all day without saying that."
  • No wonder the wise father of Elder Henry B. Eyring observed once how the Lord had a perfect Church until He let all of us inside!
  • We worship a Lord who teaches us precept by precept, brethren, so even when we are teaching our children the gospel, let's not dump the whole load of hay.
  • Do not expect the world's solutions to the world's problems to be very effective.
  • Our wives are often inspired but sometimes in counterintuitive ways--a reality, young men, which your fathers may be brave enough to explain to you sometime.
Mervyn B. Arnold - Strengthen Thy Brethren
  • He did not give up, that He did "go ... after that which [was] lost, until he [did] find it."
Earl C. Tingey -For the Strength of Youth
  • You live in a world of great uncertainty. There are many voices. There are many paths. Not all lead to our Heavenly Father.
  • "The Spirit speaketh the truth and lieth not. Wherefore, it speaketh of things as they really are, and of things as they really will be."
  • "Without the obedient response to 'things as they really are,' there are the endless detours and the empty searches for another course of life. ... A course of life that is wrong now cannot and will not be proven right later on."
  • Unfortunately, we are seeing the removal of traditional standards of morality and behavior in today's world. The vernacular of today is "anything goes." The world views time-honored standards as old-fashioned or out-of-date.
  • Choose friends with high standards.
  • Young men, these standards you are privileged to keep are truly a pearl of great price. The world does not understand them. Many good people seek them. You have them.
  • We are almost the only organization left that has established, time-honored standards. Most others have succumbed to the culture of our world. How blessed we are to have living prophets.
James E. Faust -Choices
  • Making perfect choices all of the time is not possible. It just doesn't happen. But it is possible to make good choices we can live with and grow from.
  • First, recognizing the error of our ways;
  • Second, forsaking the wrongful conduct;
  • Third, never repeating it;
  • and, fourth, confessing and making restitution where possible.
  • Progression comes faster and easier by learning from our parents, those who love us, and our teachers. We can also learn from the mistakes of others, observing the consequences of their wrong choices.
  • "When you have to make a choice and don't make it, that in itself is a choice."
Thomas S. Monson -The Call for Courage
  • Life's journey is not traveled on a freeway devoid of obstacles, pitfalls, and snares. Rather, it is a pathway marked by forks and turnings. Decisions are constantly before us. To make them wisely, courage is needed: the courage to say, "No," the courage to say, "Yes." Decisions do determine destiny.
  • The call for courage comes constantly to each of us. It has ever been so, and so shall it ever be.
  • "If you ever find yourself where you shouldn't be--get out!"
  • "Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid ... " for the Lord thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee."
  • Courage becomes a living and an attractive virtue when it is regarded not only as a willingness to die manfully, but also as a determination to live decently.
  • Someone has said that courage is not the absence of fear but the mastery of it. At times, courage is needed to rise from failure, to strive again.
  • Time marches on. Duty keeps cadence with that march. Duty does not dim nor diminish. Catastrophic conflicts come and go, but the war waged for the souls of men continues without abatement. Like a clarion call comes the word of the Lord to you, to me, and to the priesthood holders everywhere: "Wherefore now let every man learn his duty, and to act in the office in which he is appointed, in all diligence."
Gordon B. Hinckley -"I Was an Hungered, and Ye Gave Me Meat"
  • Those in need are expected to do all they can to provide for themselves. Then families are expected to assist in taking care of their less-fortunate members. And then the resources of the Church are made available.
  • Where devastating floods have come, where earthquake shave created disaster, where hunger has stalked the land, wherever want has been created by whatever cause, representatives of the Church have been there.

Roommate Friends

I got a taste of what it would be like to have my friends as roommates.
For they came down to stay the night with me.
As I had two empty beds that weren't seeing use for a little while longer.
And so they took advantage of the situation, and came down to stay!
Which was great because I was able to spend more than a couple of hours with them.
It's been forever since I've spent any amount of time with them.

I actually think it might be alright. To have them as Roommates.
You know it's everyone's fear that you move in as friends and leave not as friends.
Yah, that's always been my concern.
I mean, I've been trying to get my friends to come down to College Town so that we can be closer by.
But even though I talk about having them move in....I'm always hesitant. I don't want our friendships to suffer.
Yet.
I think this was a glimpse of the good life.
Seeing their morning habits, their evening habits, getting ready, what they prefer to eat.

It leaves me hopeful.
Though it's still not too likely we'll manage to move in together.
I do think that we could make it work if it does happen.

We'll see.
It's in the future.
Still.
I liked it. :D
Wish we could do more sleepovers more often. ^^

Until you next see these words;
I'll be watching the leaves.
Enjoy the day!

A Day In Review -March 27th & 28th

Huh, I thought there was something off about Yesterday's Post.
Now I realize what it was.
I was supposed to do my Day in Review yesterday!
Gah!
>.<
So, for fun, I'm just going to do a two-dayer March 27th and 28th. :)

Monday, March 27th 2006
- I had Driver's Ed today, Biology where we had an assignment on disorders in genes (always found that interesting.) ASL learned signs of jobs like Doctor and Painter (first year of ASL), I had breadsticks for lunch (rather common for me at one point.) Seminary we had a discussion on 3 Nephi 8-10. My bus ride home  (I got to ride the bus in High School! Yes!) was 10 minutes late to pick us up as it was a sub today. Then when I came home I had to clean my room because we're getting new windows installed on Wednesday.

Friday, March 27th 2009 & Saturday, March 28th 2009

- I forgot to turn in my lab sheet in ASL today, the sub in Anthropology didn't show up so I read the book Dewey By Vicki Myron. It was an out of the box book for me because I usually don't read nonfiction, but it was given to me, and I actually liked it. Who doesn't like a story about a cat in a library? I finished it after school and started reading CastleDance by K.L. Morgan (love that series.) In English we talked about research papers (again, seems like that's all we ever did in that class.) History we played a game, I went to Devotional where the subject was staying in Zion and not going to Babylon. Kristin, Ali and I hung out for a couple of hours before we went to Ali's therapy (for that torn ACL) After that we got Frozen Hot Chocolates (best thing on earth.) We went to a Talent show the ward was putting on after tha tpoint, I was part of it...I dressed up a bit like a clown, and my talent was to juggle for a little bit before signing (not singing) In the Dark of the Night. Soon after I went out to change out of my costume because it was hot! But then a quartet of guys came up and said "We'd like to dedicate this last song to the clown girl but she's not here any more apparently." But I was, my friends drawing their attention to me. I put my green wig back on and went up as they serenaded me in front of everyone to Kiss the Girl. I was somewhat embarrassed thinking "Please don't Kiss me!" (I was still VL at this point.) Apparently I turned very red. And at the very end of the song the cutest guy out of the four started moving forward as if to Kiss me, and my knee jerk reaction was to scoot the chair backwards. I felt kinda bad about it afterwards. (what if he was the one? ;) ) I just didn't want to be kissed by a complete stranger.
I had a lazy Saturday where I finished reading Castledance (yes I can read rather fast) I also downloaded a bunch of my files to my flashdrive as my parents were coming to take my computer away (I'm guessing to have it fixed.)

Saturday, March 27th 2010 & Sunday, March 28th 2010

-I slept in today. ^^ Well...my dog pepper woke me up at 9am to go outside, but I slept a couple more hours afterwards. The parents took Meralto computer shopping as he'd broken his computer and wanted a new one, they also got a couple of tires replaced on the Tracker (the car I ended up buying a few years later) Once they got back the whole family when to the Gem Show. ^^ We ended up running into Grandpa and Grandma Dirchi there! It was great to see them. I got a bunch of stone things, wands, balls, a stone bear, a purple stone pig... And ended up buying the $60 rock ball that I liked yesterday. I'd been planning to not buy it originally because it was so expensive, but Mom surprised me when she bought it for me. ^^ She's the greatest! We had lunch at Taco Bell before driving down to Happy Valley to check out the computers there at Best Buy and office Depot (pretty sure they were dropping me off back to college as well.) and Meralto ended up buying a laptop there before they headed back North. I spent the rest of the day working on a talk I have to give tomorrow. >.<
I gave my first talk of a single's ward today. I think it went rather well, though it was torturous as Sacrament meeting was in the third hour this time around, so I had two hours of pretalk nerves. But I had the audience laughing and afterwards many people came up to compliment me. :D I came home and took a nap, but woke up with a tense neck and stiff jaw and a headache. >.< bleh. I went to ward prayer -where I got more compliments on my talk. ^^ -and ended up signing up for the talent show... :S Yikes. It's going to be the same thing I did last year. Signing a song. I ended up watching the movie Titanic and remembered why I don't like that show. >.< And my roommate Shelbie finally paid me for utilities for Feburary, and also for March when I wasn't expecting her too. ^^ (I ended up seeing this roommate like three times in the whole time she lived there. Honestly she'd show up only once a month... my first real ghost roommate.

Sunday, March 27th 2011 & Monday, March 28th 2011

-Left church early today due to not feeling well, ended up watching Atlantis with Dan which is apparently his favorite movie. He watched almost all of it without talking. :) We went to ward prayer, and I locked Dan inside the apartment by quickly reaching out and locking the door as he reached for the handle to go outside. lol his reaction was funny. ^^ We went up to his apartment and ended up watching Lilo and Stitch.
For the first time in a couple of weeks I actually walked to school. It felt so strange to do so. I had ASL first where it started snowing. (yay) My next class we talked about the advent of nuclear bombs, for my noon break I went to the language labs to do homework, had my anatomy class, we're working on the respiratory system. Had Brother Peterson's class on Alma 13, again spent my next break working on the same homework I'd been working on before. I turned in an 11page paper. Whoosh, hope I get a good grade for that. After school I met up with Kikay at a blood drive at the church. (can't give blood yet myself. >.< don't weigh enough.) Had FHE with President Livingstone there.

Tuesday, March 27th 2012 & Wednesday, March 28th 2012

-I had my CJ class today, thought the teacher might have called my name to do presentations...not sure. It was another school day basically...We got out of class early, I dropped by the kitchen downstairs to grab a brownie to eat and ended up running into one of my teachers there and his sun. In Brother Monson's class I was asked to give the thought, but he was excited enough about his lesson he got up right after the prayer, so I guess it wasn't needed, though it did happen to go along with his lesson. I grabbed another brownie and had Sis Terry's class before getting the Publicity department together to reorganize our banner closet. It's finally manageable, but I broke/tore a bunch of my finger nails in the process. :(
Gave myself a headache bad enough I had to wait until the next day to write. It started out pretty normally, in Religions we continued with our Christianity subject, Ethics (philosophy. Bleh.) we discussed which I dislike. ASL class we went over the elbow (how interpreters can injure it.) Deaf Law...same thing as usual. But as Kikay and I were headed back to our car, I saw a rock wall! And it was free to climb! I ended up climbing it twice. :D Because I was up and down the first time in like 30 seconds lol. (Love rock climbing) The second time I nearly fell because a rock hold slipped under my hands. Kikay and I went to the Fencing Arena to duel our friend there with our Yugioh cards. (he was just getting into it. )He thought he would cream us but we ended up creaming him. Afterwards I met up with some ASL classmates to go see Peter Cook live at the Deaf Center. Needless to say it was Awesome! But the lack of AC, food, and water gave me a headache that kept me semi wakeful during the night...but managed to fall asleep.

Wednesday, March 27th 2013 & Thursday, March 28th 2013

-Work went well today. :) I got all the bedding changes done, but ended up spending most of my last two hours on the register. Boo. Came home and gathered the info needed to move into the Vil. After a nap I drove there only to find out they didn't need all the info I'd gathered O.O They waived the application fee. They just had me pay the deposit. So once I get an email for the lease..I'll be officially moving into the Vil! :S I'm kinda nervous though because I was told I would need to park on the street for the summer. And College town is notorious for tow trucks circling like vultures. I don't want my car to get towed! (good news it didn't while I lived there.)
I had work really really early this morning at 4am because our DM was coming to visit and Reth wanted the place to look amazing. He ended up showing up really early at 830am! Before the store had even opened! I think he did it to try and throw us off our groove. Still we were basically opened already, just needed to feed the fish, so Reth sent me off at 9am when my shift was supposed to end. (I was possibly going to stay late just in case.) I walked over to Institute making it to my class for the first time in three weeks. (I think I was still trying to do morning institute...) But it wasn't the lesson I was hoping to have, instead it was just like a political discussion. I walked home and spent like the next two hours reading through the Vil's lease/contract they mailed me. ()_() Such an intimidating thing! I vaguely remember my current place being like that...but this is a bit worse. I have to be a "Student." to live there. Which basically means I just need to sign up for an institute class and I'm good. I went grocery shopping and came home to work on writing. Found it hard to focus as I am a bit nervy still over wondering what I got myself into. But totally excited to move. :D

Thursday, March 27th 2014 & Friday, March 28th 2014

-Another work day, not too bad. I didn't need to do the bedding changes this morning, I'll be doing them tomorrow instead since I was the only opener today. So that was nice and relaxing. I tried to meet up with a Coworker Tre to have a dinner thing (date) but he ended up not being able to make it due to some registration thing for his apartment taking longer than planned. (We never did end up going out weird as it is.) I ended up hanging with Mirleki watching Arrow. :)
Friday went well, I ended up opening by myself cus Reth couldn't make it as early as she thought. She told Cire to tell me to only do the desert side, but I'd already finished all the bedding itself when he finally got around, I just needed to put the decorations back. Reth called me Wonder Woman. ^^ I met up with Kikay after work to go to the Gem Faire. We ended up staying later than planned. But I got some more wands, a couple of stone eggs and a flat wand. :) However being late was bad because I was going to meet up with friends at 530 to go up the canyon to a cabin. But it was 545 when we left the gem fair, got caught in rush hour traffic, and didn't make it there until 640. Stress for me. I ended up with a slight headache. That got worse. I ended up carpooling with strangers. I thought it was going to just be an institute council party. But a ton of people I didn't know came as well. More stress. Apparently the change of location for the party also meant a change in the people coming as well. We dropped by a diner for food (also unplanned) and drove way up and out into the Canyon, up the mountain. Where there was hardly any signal. Really isolated. Still snow on the ground. Thick snow. I was surrounded by strangers, in a cabin in the middle of nowhere, with the possibility that everyone staying over night with me having work in the morning. Thankfully a friend was heading back, I made him go back earlier as I was feeling more and more sick. The headache getting worse. I was getting all tingly, all over, an experience I'd never felt before. The drive down was horrible, but I got a priesthood blessing, and had friends/Kikay come pick me up to drive my car back home as I didn't know if I could do it myself with how I was feeling. Strangely enough as soon as I got in the car with Kikay I relaxed and the pain went away and I was able to relax a bit, though I ended up just going to bed.

Friday, March 27th 2015 & Saturday, March 28th 2015

-Loved work this morning. :D Why? Because in our fish shipment, I happened to look at the manifest of what fish we were getting in and noticed a new fish the Butterfly Pleco on the list! That meant that my favorite biannual event was happening! Because twice a year, starsmet changes up what fish we sell. Adding in new ones, discontinuing old ones, and then moving fish about to make sure there is room for the new ones. ^^ I love moving the fish around, love getting new fish in! (sad that some of my favorites are going away though. :( ) So I spent a couple of hours before the store opened doing just that. Looking at the new schematic to make sure the fish were put in the right spots. ^^ So excited. To see the new fish! :D
- Today I went with Kikay up to the Gem Faire to meet up with the parents, Meralto, and Grandma Dirchi in the morning. ^^ It was such a different experience going up earlier without needing a deadline to get back to. So I was able to stay relaxed and not get my usual headache after going to such a high energy spot. We went to dinner at Sizzler afterwards before going back home. I took a brief nap. Cleaned up the place a bit, then met up with my friends Jess and Tay. We went and saw the movie Home. :D Such an adorable movie! Loved it. ^^ Much better than I was expecting it to be. :D

Tacozanga Strikes Twice!

Never go shopping when you're hungry.
Well known rule.
If you want to spend a lot of money....that's when you go.
Because everything looks good.
As opposed to when you're not hungry, stuffed really.
Then nothing looks good, and you don't spend a lot of money.

Well, yesterday, I went shopping.....obviously when I was hungry.
I'd been craving Tacozanga. That recipe I'd made over a month ago.
I wanted to make it again.
And I knew last time what I'd made...could use some improvements. More of some things. Less of others.
And because I was hungry.
I ended up basically doubling the recipe.
Why not?
I already knew that my friends in college town loved it.
I already knew that I could eat the leftovers and still love it.
So, it was a win win situation.

In any case.
When I'd spent too much money and come home with my spoils.
I didn't just put it in the fridge to wait for another day.
No.
I set right off to cooking.
Because I had a question.
I use TatorTots, and the one thing I'd noticed about eat the left overs....is that there's a faint taste of freezer to it.
But if I used the TatorTots the same day I purchased it....
Then I would know upon reheating if it was my freezer....or just freezers in general that cause that bleh after taste.
It doesn't. Yay!

So, for the next hour.
I worked on my double batch of Tacozanga.
Again, I split up a portion for my friend who can't have cheese.
I really need to figure out a good way to do that....
If I continue how I did it this time...I need to get another pound of meat. Then perhaps...it will be just right. We'll see...the next time.

In any case. ^^
I made another Tacozanga!
And it was still as amazing as the last time. ^^
Thankfully my friends did come over to get their portions.
O.o Because really....I made waaaay too much. ^^

Lol. Next time there's a party, I know what I can bring. :)

(For the recipe of Tacozanga check out Feb 22nd's post. http://thedogstarinquirer.blogspot.com/2015/02/post-forthcoming_22.html)

Protected From Evil

In 1992 two sister missionaries in Zagreb, Croatia, were returning to their apartment one evening.
Their last teaching appointment had been some distance away, and it was getting dark.
Several men on the trolley made crude comments and became rather menacing.
Feeling threatened, the sisters got off the trolley at the next stop just as the doors closed so no one could follow them.
Having avoided that problem, they realized they were in a place unknown to either of them.
As they turned to look for help, they saw a woman.
The missionaries explained that they were lost and asked the woman if she could direct them.
She knew where they could find another trolley to take them home and invited them to follow her.
On the way they had to pass a bar with patrons sitting along the sidewalk in the gathering darkness.
these men also appeared threatening.
Nevertheless, the two young women had the distinct impression that the men could not see them.
They walked by, apparently invisible to those who might have had a mind to harm them.
When the sisters and their guide reached the stop, the trolley they needed was just arriving.
They turned to thank the woman, but she was nowhere to be seen.

These  missionaries were furnished a guide and other blessings to protect them physically.
As you become converted, you will have comparable protections to keep you from temptation and deliver you from evil.
Sometimes evil will not find you.
Sometimes you will be protected when evil is made invisible to you.
Even when you must confront it directly, you will do so with faith, not fear.

VT Difficulties

Why is it so hard to knock on a door?
Seriously, it's like six feet away from me.
Yet I find it difficult to do so.
To go to the next apartment and knock.
Why?
Because I don't want to get rejected.
I don't want to come out of it feeling like I'd just made a fool of myself.

Honestly, it should be easy.
Go knock on their door.
Say hi. try and make friends. Talk. Have a good time.

Yet.
It's difficult.

Honestly, I don't need a reason to feel worse about myself.

Seriously, Visiting Teaching is not for the introverted people.
The ones content to stay in a quiet corner. To watch. To listen. To enjoy from a distance.

Visiting Teaching is basically the opposite of that.
You have to get up.
Go out, expose yourself, go be the one to instigate talking with others?
It's difficult.
It's hard.

*sighs*
Yet it has to be done...
Hopefully tomorrow brings the courage to do just that...

Until you next see these words;
I'll be watching the leaves.
Enjoy the day!

Relative Finder

So I was introduced to a brand new family history thing today.

Okay...brand new to me.
As everyone here in college town and happy valley seems to assume everyone knows everything about everything....

But I've found it really cool!

It's called Relative Finder.
Created somewhere in BYU.

And what it does...
Is that it goes through and finds your cousins.
Finds people you're related to.

Curious to see if you're related to any U.S. Presidents?
You can find out here!
Famous People.
Here.
Pioneers.
Here.
Mayflower.
Here.
Royalty.
Here.
It's totally crazy!!!

There's people I'm related to that I had no idea I was related to!

For example:
  •  U.S. President William Harrison is my first cousin 7 times removed.
  • Elder Jeffrey R. Holland of the 12 Apostles is my 4th cousin 1 time removed.
  • Previous Prophet Harold B. Lee is my 4th cousin twice removed.
  • William Brewster and William Bradford both came on the Mayflower and both are my 9th great great uncles.
  • U.S President Benjamin Harrison and Herbert Hoover are my third cousins 5 times removed
  • Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Jefferson are my 2nd cousins 10 times removed.
On and on it can go!
Constitution and Declaration of Independence Signers, Book of Mormon Witnesses, Most of the current Apostles and many of the deceased Apostles, Joseph Smith, Hyrum Smith, Queen Victoria, Elvis Presley, Amelia Earhart, Walt Disney...

Frankly I'm overwhelmed!
Who knew I had so many famous cousins!
It's amazing.
I already knew bits of it, of stories my family have told me.
But this...this gives me names and shows me how we are connected.
O.o
Totally crazy!

Relative Finder.

You guys really should check it out!

The Dream

I remember that my family and I were returning from a vacation, and my brother was driving, we were enjoying ourselves talking about the games we had played, when suddenly the car swerved, I looked up to see us on a cliff face that bordered the ocean, and my brother had nearly taken us off the cliff!! For a moment I thought we were saved, that he managed to save us...but the car skidded sideways...tumbled....headed to the water.
(I jerked awake. Fell back asleep.)
My sister and some friends were gathered together working on a project at school. And it involved the restrooms...or us trying to get ready in a decrepit one....

April 2004 General Conference -Saturday Afternoon

Thomas S. Monson - The Sustaining of Church Officers

Wesley L. Jones - Church Auditing Department Report 2003

F. Michael Watson -Statistical Report 2003
  • Total Membership - 11,985,254
  • Full-Time Missionaries - 56,237
  • Temples in Operation - 116
Russell M. Nelson -Roots and Branches
  • Each of us has ancestral roots. Each man has received some genetic markers that are just like those of his father. Each woman has received some genetic markers that are just like those of her mother. In addition, each of us has received other genetic gifts that make us unique.
  • Because we have a spirit as well as a physical body, we also have spiritual roots that go way back. They shape our values, our beliefs, and our faith. Spiritual roots guide our commitment to the ideals and teachings of the Lord.
  • Children have a natural desire to emulate the examples of their parents. Generally, boys incline toward the attitudes and work of their fathers; girls aspire to live as their mothers do. And you parents, don't be too surprised if, sometime along the way, your children become better than you.
  • "Beautiful, luscious fruit does not grow unless the roots of the ... tree have been planted in rich, fertile soil and unless due care is given to proper pruning, cultivation, and irrigation. So likewise the luscious fruits of virtue and chastity, honesty, temperance, integrity, and fidelity are not to be found growing in that individual whose life is not funded on a firm testimony of the truths of the gospel and of the life and the mission of the Lord Jesus Christ."
Jeffrey R. Holland -"Abide in Me"
  • The rolling forth of the restored gospel is a miracle in every sense of the word, and not the least of the miracle is that a significant portion of it rolls forward on the shoulders of 19-year-olds!
  • "He who picks up one end of the stick, picks up the other."
  • When we join The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, we board the Good Ship Zion and sail with her wherever she goes until she comes into that millennial port. We stay in the boat, through squalls and stills, through storms and sunburn, because that is the only way to the promised land.
Keith B. McMullin -Jesus, the Very Thought of Thee
  • "...I am satisfied ... that whenever a man has a true witness in his heart of the living reality of the Lord Jesus Christ all else will come together as it should."
  • Acquiring such a testimony does not, however, come without personal effort. One must desire to know, study to learn, live to merit, and pray to receive. When so pursued in humility and faith, the knowledge comes, and with this knowledge comes both the sweet assurance that all will be well and the inner strength to make it so.
  • "If ye will awake and arouse your faculties, even to an experiment upon my words, and exercise a particle of faith, yea, even if ye can no more than desire to believe, let this desire work in you, even until ye believe in a manner that ye can give place for a portion of my words."
W. Rolfe Kerr -The Words of Christ--Our Spiritual Liahona
  • "And now it came to pass that there were a great multitude gathered together. ...
  • "And they were ... conversing about this Jesus Christ, of whom the sign had been given concerning his death.
  • "And ... while they were thus conversing one with another, they heard a voice as if it came out of heaven; and ... they understood not the voice which they heard; ... it was not a harsh voice, neither was it a loud voice; nevertheless, ... it being a small voice it did pierce them that did hear to the center, insomuch that there was no part of their frame that it did not cause to quake; yea, it did pierce them to the very soul, and did cause their hearts to burn.
  • "And .. again they heard the voice, and they understood it not.
  • "And again the third time they did hear the voice, and did open their ears to hear it; and their eyes were towards the sound thereof; and they did look steadfastly towards heaven, from whence the sound came.
  • "And behold, the third time they did understand the voice which they heard; and it said unto them:
  • "Behold my Beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased, in whom I have glorified my name--hear ye him.
  • "And ... as they understood they cast their eyes up again toward heaven; and behold, they saw a Man descending out of heaven; and he was clothed in a white robe; and he came down and stood in the midst of them; ...
  • "And it came to pass that he stretched forth his hand and spake unto the people, saying:
  • "Behold, I am Jesus Christ, whom the prophets testified shall come into the world.
  • "And behold, I am the light and the life of the world; and I have drunk out of that bitter cup which the Father hath given me, and have glorified the Father in taking upon me the sins of the world, in the which I have suffered the will of the Father in all things from the beginning.
  • "And it came to pass that when Jesus had spoken these words the whole multitude feel tot he earth; for they remembered that it had been prophesied among them that Christ should show himself unto them after his ascension into heaven."
  • "For behold, it is as easy to give heed to the word of Christ, which will point to you a straight course to eternal bliss."
  • "O my son, do not let us be slothful because of the easiness of the way."
Francisco J. Vinas -Applying the Simple and Plain Gospel Principles in the Family
  • At times we have the tendency to think that the more serious the problem, the bigger and more complex the solution should be. That idea can lead us, for example, to seek help from people or institutions outside the home when in reality the most effective solution will come by applying the glorious principles of the gospel in our homes in the small actions and duties of everyday life.
  • When we adopt a principle, its influence radiates from us and can be felt by others.
  • That Jesus Christ "claimeth all those who have faith him; and they who have faith in him will cleave unto every good thing."
  • The person who obtains meekness and lowliness of heart and who enjoys the company of the Holy Ghost will have no desire to offend or hurt others, nor will he feel affected by an offenses received from others. He will treat his spouse and children with love and respect and will have good relationships with everyone he associates with. In occupying positions of leadership in the Church, he will apply the same principles as he does in the home, showing that there is no difference between the person he is when within the walls of his own home and the person he is in his relationship with the members of the Church.
Joseph B. Wirthlin -Earthly Debts, Heavenly Debts
  • Brothers and sisters, beware of covetousness. It is one of the great afflictions of these latter days. It creates greed and resentment. Often it leads to bondage, heartbreak, and crushing, grinding debt.
  • Remember this: debt is a form of bondage. It is a financial termite. When we make purchases on credit, they give us only an illusion of prosperity. We think we own things, but the reality is, our things own us.
  • Some debt--such as for a modest home, expenses for education, perhaps for a needed first car--may be necessary. But never should we enter into financial bondage through consumer debt without carefully weighing the costs.
  • Interest is a good servant but a terrible master.
  • "Interest never sleeps nor sickens nor dies; it never goes to the hospital; it works on Sundays and holidays; it never takes a vacation. ... Once in debt, interest in your companion every minute of the day and night; you cannot shun it or slip away from it; you cannot dismiss it; it yields neither to entreaties, demands, or orders; and whenever you get in its way or cross its course or fail to meet its demands, it crushes you."
  • "Do not leave yourself or your family unprotected against financial storms. ... Build up savings."
  • "Not only should we teach men to get out of debt but we should teach them likewise to stay out of debt."
  • First, pay your tithing.
  • Second, spend less than you earn.
  • Those who use credit cards to overspend unwisely should consider eliminating them. It is much better that a plastic credit card should perish than a family dwindle and perish in debt.
  • Third, learn to save.
  • Fourth, honor your financial obligations.
  • No man is fit to be called a man who gathers around himself cars, boats, and other possessions while neglecting the sacred financial obligations he has to his own wife and children.
  • We are a people of integrity. We believe in honoring our debts and being honest in our dealings with our fellow men.
  • Fifth, teach your children to follow your example.

Under the Car

Note to self: If I see something roll under my car.
Check and see what that something is before I walk away and assume it's not important.

So last night,
I went grocery shopping.
I needed to get some Pillsbury Breadsticks for Dinner tonight.
And other food, because I was running low on many foods that I need to survive. ;)

But upon entering my car,
I was distracted by an awful smell.
Seriously, it smelt like something had died in there.
O.o
And I couldn't find a source for it!
Plus, I hadn't been in the car for at least twenty-four hours if not longer.
For I didn't drive anywhere since I'd gotten off of work Friday afternoon.

So why did it smell like something was rotting?
No idea.
Though upon thinking on it later tonight...
I did drop by KFC after work....
and I wonder if the smell somehow stayed in the car....and fermented over the day. O.o
Sounds crazy. But it's the only thing I can think of....

Because I don't think I'd be nose blind enough to miss something that smelt like that.
Though it was always possible. *shrugs*
It's just a strange random happenstance.

In any case.
I wanted to deal as little with my car as possible.
And so I was in a hurry to get my groceries from the car,
To my apartment.
I saw something on the ground roll underneath my car.
But in the darkness and my rush.
I thought that someone had left an energy drink and littered.
And it had rolled under my car, and I had no reason to wrestle with arms full of groceries to fish it out from underneath.

I thought nothing more of it.
Until this afternoon,
When I went outside,
And happened to glance under my car.
And saw something underneath.
That looked like it had exploded.

Upon closer inspection.
I discovered it was my Pillsbury Breadstick can.
The end had exploded out and the dough had come flowing out.

Totally depressing. :(
Thankfully, I'd randomly decided to buy two cans, so I was not as dismayed as I could have been at the turn of events.

But seriously.
Next time I see something roll under my car.
I'm immediately checking it out. :)

I'll be watching the leaves.
Enjoy the day!

A New Entertainment

Well.
It's finally happened.
After years of having people telling me to get it.
I got it.
Netflix.

It's like a whole new world opened up to me.
So many shows and movies now at my fingertips.
It's overwhelming.
But at the same time,
It's easy to see I won't be short of shows any time soon.

Though, exploring through it,
The shows I want to watch....a lot of them aren't yet there.
Still.
I have plenty to keep me entertained.

Goodbye social world.
See you next to never.

;) lol
Or not.

At least I now have a source of visual background noise, for when I am home.
New shows for my craving knowledge to partake of.

We'll see how this whole adventure with Netflix turns out.

Should be interesting. :D

The Dream

I was at work, when I got overrun with a bunch of customers all with different problems with their betta fish. I had to multitask as I worked to figure out the problems between each of them,
But got frustrated when I went to show one customer where our medicines were, they weren't on their aisle!
Why?
The stockers had moved things around.
Now there were paint and crafting supplies there.
I was suddenly in more of a convenience store with food and such. With the fish things all intermingled within it. With no rhyme or reason. Which meant I had to return to my customers and let them know I couldn't find it, so it would take a while longer than I had planned.
I searched all over the store, going up and down the stairs of campus, to the food court before finally taking my heavy backpack and making the long, very long walk back up the stairs, searching for those customers. I was exhausted, my movements not as fast as they should have been....

Then the unholy tones of daylight pulled me away....
and I became myself again. :)

Thrice Stressed

It was a night of stress for me.
One that resulted in the usual thing.
A headache.
>.<
This one, one of the worser sorts.
In that no matter what I tried,
It wouldn't fade.
It just sat there,
Aching.
Aching.
Aching.
Making sure that I didn't sleep well.

And why?
Why did I get a headache?
From stress.
Stress of three different sorts.

The first,
I was setting up my new TV.
Being very paranoid about it.
Worried that I would break it before I even had a chance to use it. :S
Delicate screens...I could drop it, or pull something loose.
Idk.
But I got it to work! Woot! ^^
After some help from my roomies boyfriend, in putting it together.

>.<
And that brings in stress number two.
As my new roomies' boyfriend isn't her boyfriend anymore.
No, he's a fiancée now.
O.o
My brand new roommate.
Only showed up so she could move out.
AFTER THREE WEEKS!
I hadn't even seen her a handful of times yet!
And she's engaged!
Gah!
Talk about total depression on my part.
(Yay for her, seriously that is exciting.)
As I'd been looking forward to having her as a roommate.
She seemed to be more energetic, and talkative. We could actually hang out and such.
And now.
She's gone.
>.<
I'm left without a third roomie. For now.
Who knows who's going to move in next. If they'll be a ghost.roommate or not.
All a stress, as I don't want to have to deal with yet another ghost roommate.

So I was hit with that bad(good) news.

And lastly.....
The most depressing.

I discovered that my Betta Fish Phantasmic...
Had died. :(
He's been with me nearly two years (which is quite average for a betta fish)
But recently he hasn't been doing too well.
He's gotten thinner.
Had some swim bladder issues (where he's stuck at the top of the tank.)
And basically...has been going down hill for a while.

I did what I could for him.

But in the end....it was his time.
My dancing buddy left.
:(

So in the end...
It wasn't the best night for me.
So much 'excitement' was too much for me.
And so I spent the night with a headache that made moving painful...
One that really, I just had to wait to fade. *sighs*

I need to stress out less often.

Until you next read these words;
I'll be watching the leaves.
Enjoy the day!

Returning the Lamb

Several years ago my wife, Susan, and I had the opportunity to tour the New Zealand Christchurch Mission with President and Sister Melvin Tagg.
President Tagg suggested as part of the mission tour we include a preparation day and take a bus trip to see the beautiful Milford Sound.
Part of the trip involved stopping at several beautiful scenic sites along the way.
At one of those stops, as we walked back to the bus, I became curious about a group of passengers standing in a circle on the road taking photographs.
As I peered over the people, I saw in the circle a frightened little baby lamb on wobbly legs.
It appeared to be no more than a few hours old.
I have seen a lot of sheep in my life since my father-in-law was in the sheep business.
Consequently, I had no interest in taking a photograph of a solitary lamb, so I boarded the bus and waited.

After all the passengers finally boarded the bus, the driver picked up the frightened little lamb in his arms, held it tenderly against his chest, and brought it on the bus.
He sat down, closed the door, picked up his microphone, and said to us: "Undoubtedly a band of sheep has gone through here this morning, and this little lamb has strayed.
Perhaps if we take it with us, we might find the band of sheep farther up the road and return this baby lamb to its mother."

We drove through several kilometers of beautiful meadow of tall, flowing grass.
Sure enough, there in the meadow was a band of sheep feeding.
The bus driver stopped the bus and excused himself.
We all thought he would put the lamb down on the side of the road and come back, but he didn't.
With the lamb in his arms, he carefully and quietly walked out through the grass toward the band of sheep.
When he got as close as he could without disturbing them, he gently put the lamb down and then remained in the field to make sure the baby lamb returned to the fold.

As he returned to the bus, he once again picked up his microphone and said, "Oh, can't you hear that mother sheep saying, 'Oh, thank you, thank you, thank you for bringing my lost lamb back home to me!'"

A Day In Review - March 18th

Saturday, March 18th 2006

-My family was on vacation on the East Coast -South Carolina/Virginia area, visiting some family friends who'd moved out there. This day Bri had to take his wife and their baby girl to the hospital because the baby wasn't doing well. Turns out she had a mild case of RSV and not pneumonia like they feared. While the mom and baby were there, the rest of us went to see Williamsburg, which I found a lot more interesting than Jamestown because we got to tour some original homes and see some replicas of houses (compared to foundation lines in the grass at Jamestown) After Mother and baby were brought back from the hospital all the younger kids were sent to bed while the rest of us stayed up to play Mahjongg.

Sunday, March 18th 2007 (Spring break of March)

-We went to Sedona Arizona for spring break. First time we've had a vacation in Arizona. I was surprised at how similar to Moab it all looks. There's tons of red rocks down there. But what struck me most is that none of the houses had lawns. They were just desert garden things. Kinda Freaky! We also visited my Great Grandma Maren because we hadn't seen her in a while, and saw a lot of Rock shops, as well as took a train ride to the Grand Canyon this week. Twas all fun. :)

Wednesday, March 18th 2009

-I was woken up this morning by a phone call, I missed it but called the number back and got an angry guy swearing at his kid while answer the phone on the other line. O.o Totally not what I wanted to hear in the morning, it was kinda a shock. Ended up being a wrong number. To wash it away from me I took a shower and hung out until Ali and I went to her physical therapy session. While there I got a call from my Mom saying that AT/UB had given them an early anniversary present. They had been smoke free for a month and a half. ^^ It was totally Exciting and I was overjoyed for them! They even said that when we came up to visit we could break all their ash trays. ^^
I got two other good pieces of news as well. My friend Jacob L got his mission call! He's going to be serving at the Church History Library in SLC. :)
And then I got a phone call from one of my friends since we were infants, Shane. He too had gotten his mission call! He's going to serve in Edmonton , Canada. Totally crazy to think I won't see him for 2 years, but I was over joyed that he chose to call me personally instead of me finding out some other way. ^^

Thursday, March 18th 2010

- I was wakened at 3 am this morning by my dog Sadie pacing like mad and whining. I went to let her out, but smelt skunk so didn't dare to let her or Pepper out before I could put my contacts in and check to make sure no skunks were lurking in the yard. Sadie ended up waking up the parents and Dad tried to help her out enough that she settled down for a bit. I hung out with Mom for the morning once I woke up again until about 1230, when we drove to the High School to grab the car Kikay had taken to school before we went to the Animal Care Center to have Sadie checked out. The plan had ben for me to stay with Sadie while mom went to the eye doctor, but I ended up going to the eye doctor with her while the Vet did a more in depth examination. I went to pick Kikay up from school while mom went to the Vet to grab Sadie. I spoke with a few of my old teachers there before we came home, arriving about the same time as my Mom. Turns out that Sadie has an Anal Infection and something had ruptured, but she's all better now. Hung out until Aunt G brought her dog over -my little shadow (as he never leaves your side) - to watch for the weekend. Kikay and I ended up going to Artic Circle after she got done at 'work' at a neighbor's home scanning pictures for Family History. The parents and Meralto went to a robotic dinner social thing. Lol Kikay's really popular there, she has all the staff there teasing her and offering her free things, and they have her order memorized. We even got Epic Curtsy cones! :) We did some food shopping before coming back home to relax for the evening.

Friday, March 18th 2011

-Slept in today and ended up seeing my friends Jess, Tay, and Terrel for about an hour as they were coming down to visit me, but got delayed due to work, but I had already had plans with Dan later in the evening. So I couldn't see them for long. :( Dan and I had a double date with my old roommate Ali and her husband Brad where we played games, had brownies and watched a movie. Ali seemed a bit snappy today and Brad was disliking the fact that she was winning the game right away, but otherwise we had a good time. :)

Sunday, March 18th 2012

- I actually slept through the night last night, I didn't wake up until a little after 10am. Yay! I did a bit of this and that until Kikay and I went to my friend Jess's ward for Church. I saw a bunch of my friends there. ^^ And ended up hanging out with Jess for a couple of hours afterwards as Kikay took the car back home after Sacrament. When I got back home myself the Dirchi Grandparents were visiting. :) I did find myself missing the LDSSA group (as I'd just gotten back from spending a week with them.) Kikay and I went through our movies deciding which ones we wanted to take back home, and managed to drive back safely through a snow storm in time to go to ward prayer. Kikay and I spent the rest of the evening playing Yugioh. Kikay is totally the better duelist. She won 3/4 times.

Monday, March 18th 2013

-Well...that was a bit different. I don't think I've done the bird bedding changes since before Christmas, so I felt a little rusty doing them this morning at work. I could have been done in two hours....but we ended up having a 25 minute morning meeting and then I delayed another hour doing a cat adoption. Bullet was adopted! :D I managed to finish birds before getting off my shift and went to lunch with Kikay at Zupas before I came home, took a nap, and then spent the rest of the evening looking up cars. -Kikay and I have been sharing a car, and it's getting to the point where we really each need our own so we're looking into options the two of us on cars to buy. (Kikay ended up buying a used car, I ended up buying the car that we were sharing from my parents.)

Tuesday, March 18th 2014

-It was weird at work today as there were three of us in the department this morning, which is crazy as I'm usually alone after 11 it seems like. But Reth, Me and Jocelyn were able to get a lot done! :D Though sadly Y_Y I found out today that Jocelyn put in her two weeks notice. (crazy to think she's been gone for a year now... how time flies) Which means petcare will be really thin on people if we don't get anyone hired in the meantime. It would put us down to only 5 people in the department. (It got worse than that late last year) In any case, after work I went and bought Frozen! :D I'm so excited for this movie. ^^ I've already watched it twice today. It's that good.

Wednesday, March 18th 2015

-I had work again this morning, and like I'd been doing for the past week or so, I had the greenie that came in work on the bedding changes. This time hamsters. I've had plenty of practice with them after all lol, and they could use the practice themselves so that they can work on getting faster. This particular greenie had only done the task once before, and I think with the help of another coworker, so it took longer for her to get things done than I would have liked, but I managed to get the rest of the department opened so it wasn't too big of a deal, though I would like her to move faster. Work passed pretty well, it was the usual tasking, then searching for tasks, and helping customers out. Helped a bit with unloading our truck as well. The only dark side of the work day was that one of my coworkers (who lives in the same apt complex as I do) Figured out that I live there too. Apparently he's seen my car there, so he's known for a while...but it's not glad news to hear, it's not a coworker I want to deal with. Now I'm wondering how long until he figures out which apartment is mine...I really hope it's never. I came home to find the Fix-It crew from yesterday (who cut holes in the ceilings and walls to access pipes to replace them) were back to patch the mess they made, which they did a rather good job of, and they even cleaned up after themselves which was nice, though it felt like they spent 3 straight hours vacuuming lol. Maybe I can set up my new TV in the next day or so once I'm sure they're not going to barge in and make a mess again. I hung out for most of the evening, critiquing a story of Kikay's and doing other tasks and watched The Flash and IZombie before heading over to the clubhouse to get a free lucky bamboo start and decorate it's vase with stones and such. :)

Electronic Overload

On a spur of the moment,
I decided randomly after work
To drop by Best Buy.
Just to check things out.
See what was on sale, what wasn't. I had vague thoughts in my mind.

And the first thing that caught my eye as I walked in the door,
Was the fact that their TVs were on sale.
O.O
Like a lot on sale.
Not those "Save $20" "$50" things.
But like "Save $150" sort of things.

O.O
oooooo
I'm a sucker for a sale.
Especially good ones.

I mean...the TVs were still pricey.
But they were less pricey.
After all a $100 is a lot of money.

And they had some good ones on sale. Like a 40" and then, I noticed, a 46" flat screen for the same price.
As the bigger screen saved me more money, I was totally planning to get that one,
Until one of the guys in blue (or in this case, the door greeter in yellow) started talking to me about them.
And pointed out that the smaller TV was a SMART tv.
Meaning that it has the capabilities to connect to Wifi so you can watch shows from online on your tv screen.

Still.
My thoughts were bigger is better. Right?
After all....I don't have Netflix.
I don't have hulu.
I do have Youtube.
But...basically the SmartTV is useless to me.
For now.
But what if in the future...I actually started using those programs?
I left the floor displays to go look and see what other TVs were on sale.
And discovered many were on sale. Some for great prices, others with their 'itty bitty' discounts.

Which basically began to make my head spin.
I mean...
Sooo many TVs.
So many types.
So many sizes!
Gah!

So to clear my head, I headed over to the laptop section. Just to check out their smaller laptops as I've been on the look out for one that's on sale that's small enough to fit into my purse.
That way, I can write wherever I go without having to worry about a second bag weighing me down.

There'd been one in particular I'd been glancing at.
Waiting for like a month to go on sale.
And as I walked past.
A red sale sign caught my eye.

IT WAS ON SALE!
Of course...this little tablet computer wasn't the exact one I'd first liked. As this one ran on a Windows program, and the other one ran on Android.
But as I checked out this tablet on sale.
I saw that it had Microsoft.
Yes!
That had been my hesitation about buying the Android version.
I wanted to be able to write without having to be online.
And this windows one...looked to have it!
Sweet!
Plus.
IT was on Sale!
How could I resist?

I did.
I left the store.
I went home.
I searched and googled, and thought about it.
Talked to many a friend and family member about it...

As by this point, I wanted to get a brand new TV.
To replace the big bulky heavy hasn't been turned on in a year TV that I currently have.
But did I want to spend that much money on a new TV?
Should I not go with a Smart TV?
Should I go for bigger?

I already knew I was going to go back and buy the tabletlaptop that I wanted.
But did I want to spend more money.
Lots of money on a new TV?
I mean the two items together....I think the only time I've spent more money was when I did a deposit and first month's rent at a different apartment.
Seriously.
It was a lot.
Not that I couldn't afford it.
I could.
I had the money waiting.
As I'd been saving for just such a day.
Didn't think it would happen at the same time though.

Still, with more dithering the next day at work,
I went back to Best Buy after work.
To the same guy in yellow.
Asking him more questions.
And since he couldn't leave his door position,
He summoned another guy over...
Who acted like he totally didn't know anything about the TVs. Singularly unhelpful. I think he thought I wasn't going to be serious about buying or something.
But I was. I just wanted to know which TVs were better, which had better sound, better picture, could hook up to a DVD player...
And he...hardly gave me any answers.
So, I said I'd 'look around' some more.
And headed over to the laptop section, to again stare at the laptop I wanted.
But also, because I was hoping a worker would be there.
A friend of mine, who I trusted to give me true answers on products.
And so they did.
They explained it out to me, the whole TV thing, and we figured out which one I'd get.
The 40" smart TV.
After all...it couldn't hurt right? Who knows where I'll be in the future and Netflix...isn't that expensive from what I've heard.

So I did it.
I got myself a new TV and a new tablet laptop to write upon. ^^

YAY!!!
Haha. Talk about a Crazy St. Patrick's Day. :D

So far I'm loving my little laptop....heh...I've only turned it on to set it up so far as I've been busy with other matters to write. :(
But I love it's little size and great looks and can't wait to work with it!
(Though it's power cord is weird. O.o Looks like a phone charger. So not used to that.)

My TV on the other hand.....
I'm happy with my purchase...lol but I haven't set it up yet.
Why?
Because there have been people coming in and out of my apartment for the past couple of days, tearing holes in the walls and ceilings and replacing pipes, and I didn't want my brand new shiny TV to get damaged. *shudders*
That would be a quick return...good thing I got those warrantees....
In any case.
I have to wait, until I'm sure they're done....
And until I can get some guys to come over to my apartment to remove my old behemoth of a TV as it weighs a Ton and a Half for sure.

Hopefully soon. Soooon.
I'll be able to happily enjoy both. ^^

Until you next see these words;
I'll be watching the leaves.
Enjoy the day!
