Where's the Hours?

 Not gonna lie.

Kinda not looking forward to this work week.

Mostly because it's the most that corporate has screwed us over in hours so far.

Because, despite the promise of 'oh we'll get you more hours with this whole management restructuring' thing they decided to do.

We're getting LESS.

Like Head Manager has looked into last years hours and we're consistently being given EIGHTY HOURS LESS to work with in the store each week as compared to the same week last year.

And it freaking sucks.

Like no manager can be scheduled a full 40 hours like we used to.

It's hard enough as it is to get them their full time hours.

Not to mention trying to get all our associates the hours they need.

Seriously.

This week we were cut so low that there's no Cashier scheduled for the first hour that we're open EVERY SINGLE DAY this week.

There's a GAP in either Cashiering or Petcare or BOTH. EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. This week.

It's completely stupid.

Like there's no reason to not be giving us more hours besides freaking corporate greed trying to squeeze out any extra penny they can from their workers in 'not paying them' as they can.

And it's so frustrating.

Especially since I've been with Starsmet for nearly 13 years now.

It's frustrating because when I started we had 2 openers 2 closers in petcare. We had 1-2 cashiers at a time. We had an actual morning crew of 3-5 stockers who would come in in the morning.

And now?

There are some stores that only have Petcare people present in the store long enough to open the department and to close the department down. So like maybe 3-4 hours?

Because of LACK OF HOURS.

Like Corporate keeps telling us that "Customers are important." but HOW can we SHOW THEM they're important if THERES NO WORKERS IN THE STORE TO HELP THEM.

Not to mention all the extra work the Managers are expected to cover. Like we have to do all our tasks but then also try to do all those tasks while also covering backing up the register, backing up petcare, covering petcare, doing all the stocking tasks, dealing with whatever drama grooming constantly has going on and whatever computer work we need to do.

It's sooo stupidly frustrating.

I hate it.

So. Much.

Especially because knowing that we have a gap on register means that for the first hour of the day one of the morning managers will need to watch the register.

Which again takes us away from our tasks.

I hate it.

I didn't apply to be a freaking cashier.

Yeesh.

I'm hoping that I can avoid being the one stuck on register duty.

But I'm already anticipating that I'll be needing to do it at least twice this week. If not more.

Guess we'll see.

I'm just hoping that hours will start increasing again with the holidays approaching.

But if recent trends are anything to judge by.

I'm not that hopeful it will occur.

Until you next find these words;
I'll be watching the leaves.
Enjoy the day!
