I Just Want Food

Y_Y Nobody wants me to eat today.

I had a morning meeting, for church, in...well you know...the morning.
And they promised breakfast!
So I was like. Yay! Breakfast!

Only...when I got there.
There were many many more people than I had expected.
And apparently the people in charge of the food had expected.

Because there was basically nothing there.
I got a bit of croissant ... and that was it. :(

Okay... nothing major.
Because I usually don't eat breakfast.

But later in the day.
Me and my sister were trying to find a place to eat.

And we decided on Texas Roadhouse.
With it being a Saturday night.
We knew it would be busy,

But when we walked in we overheard that the wait was like 25 minutes.
Not to bad.
Yet when we got up there to request a table.
They said that the wait would be 80-90 minutes.
O.o

Huh?!
I'd seen the people waiting in the waiting area, there was hardly anyone in there and they were estimating over an hour before we would get a chance to order food???

They said that they could move it through faster.
But I didn't want to wait that long for food.
So we ended up in the Mall Food Court.

And after some debating...I decided on Taco Bell.
I go up to the register and try to order a burrito...
And they're out of meat.
>.<
For like 10 more minutes.
But I didn't want to wait that long.

Finally we found food elsewhere.

But seriously!!
It was like nobody wanted me to have food!! Gah!!

Until you next read these words;
I'll be watching the leaves.
Enjoy the day!

A Day in Review -November 13th

Thursday, November 13th 2008

-I had a scare today about my dog Sadie. Apparently she's been walking hunched over and looking constipated today so Dad took her to the vet. Apparently something is wrong with her back legs where the joints in the knees are loose and keep popping in and out of place. And she has a tumor (benign) on her left side. But the Doc said ti was nothing serious and she just has to be put on a pill she has to take for the rest of her life each day. I don't think I could deal with another pet problem at the moment. Though she is getting old. Like 12 years old now. I hope she lives a few more years. :( (she lived 3 more years.)

Friday, November 13th 2009

-Today was Friday the 13th. But I didn't really notice anything 'bad' happen to me. In V&D the teacher told us we had to begin to use more volume when warming up and we made eye contact, so I think he meant me. XP  I don't like noise. ASL the teacher gave me back a paper where I got a lower score. XP his comments were really too 'literal' no relaxness sadly. Institute helped counter that bad feeling though. I was complimented by Bro T, K, and L today about my personality and being in their classes and how I helped out. I did the boards today by myself. I actually found it kind of fun to rearrange the what's happening boards to be pleasing to the eye. lol Went home then went back to the school to go to the Homecoming Basketball Game. Because I was in the spirit group, I got a free t-shirt and food. Yum! Saw a friend and her boyfriend there and had a great time at the game. I got a mini basketball lol. We won 80-72. Though the last 45 secs of the game took like 15 minutes to complete because the refs kept calling in foul shots. My friend kindly gave me a ride home so I wouldn't have to wait for the bus for 1/2 an hour.

Saturday, November 13th 2010

-Drove home today w/ Kikay and her friend and her friend's friend. For some reason driving seemed really slow. I got up to 80 and it still felt like I was doing 35. Dropped off the friend and friend's friend at the Sunshine Café. Went out with family to do some shopping. While out my Eye Dr called to talk about my eyes and we ended up dropping by to grab a new contact lense. Went to Kmart, Petco for fish for mom, Arctic Circle and Birdworld. Kikay and I then packed up her friends. Saw Megamind with a bunch of my friends and Kikay's.

Sunday, November 13th 2011

-Kikay and I managed to get to church basically on time this morning. It was fast sunday in Church. I heard a bunch of good speakers give their testimony. Sunday school and Relief Society went alright. Came home and worked on drawing a picture for AT's birthday. Its a drawing of a girl carving a wolf, though most people don't see the 'wood shavings' as that. Hopefully AT can tell what it is. Ended up at the Neffies for the evening as usual, before coming home and writing a bit more as I watched Captain America.

Tuesday, November 13th 2012

-I woke up this morning to my clock saying 4:52am and I was supposed to be at work at 5am. :S Basically I got up and put in my contacts, my work clothes and ran out the door. I would have still b on time. >.< But the guys inside took their sweet time getting to the door to look me in. But I was only a minute late so in the end it didn't really matter. I think that the new manager Taar isn't my favorite manager. There's just something about them that irks me a bit. I don't know...perhaps she has a bit of a 'power over you ' complex or something. Which I don't think is deserved considering that they don't know much about my department. Not that I know much either...I've only worked here like 3 months lol. I don't know, I feel rather defensive around her. I dunno, I guess I don't like people questioning me when I know I'm in the right. In any case. I did the daily bedding changes which took me 3 hours, then cats, a break, then birds. Helped out two people and it was time to go. Came home and did laundry, dishes, and read conference talks before going to the Institute for World Religions and moved the car for Kikay. Walked home and hanged out watching movies and working on writing.

-My hands hurt. Particularly my left one...that has ring worm on it. Why? Because I've been cleaning like crazy for most of the day. First with work, we were under scheduled today. To the point where I was alone in my department for most of my closing shift. 6 hours! Gah. Then my tank cleaning partner didn't come in today because she has another job on Weds. So she can't work, and I was silly enough to volunteer to clean her tanks along with mine. And that meant a lot of scrubbing to the point where I had to give in and get my left hand wet. (trying to avoid antagonizing the ring worm.) Hopefully it doesn't make things worse...In any case work wasn't too busy luckily so I could get the tanks and the closing tasks done on time and get out of there. I drove to Smiths to pick up some things for cleaning checks before coming home. Paused long enough to eat food then proceeded to do my portion of the cleaning checks. Basically all this scrubbing has rubbed my hand raw. Particularly around my thumb. I hope it doesn't cause more trials but we'll see. For now, I'm heading for bed to rest for my morning shift.

Thursday, November 13th 2014

-It happened how I expected, Shane said he would talk to me later...but I got no word form him today and I don't expect there to be a conversation later. Out of site, out of mind. It's too late now to plan anything, and in my head I really want to lash out at him, but I know that will do no good, it will only hurt in who knows how many ways. I just wish people would be as considerate of me as I am of them... Ugh. Rejection hurts. But maybe someday...there will be people who I can trust, who will say no and not dodge me with a maybe. Who will say yes and not cancel last minute, who will be there for me....someday. Someday far far in the future because things look black all around me now, though I can't see into tomorrow. It might change then. In any case, I don't think I'll be trying to make plans with Shane again unless he instigates it. I don't want to feel like the "Visitor Friend." Where we're only friends when running into each other unexpectedly. In any case I think this emotional upheaval was/is a bit much for me at the moment. Work today, my eyes felt so weighed down, I probably could have fallen asleep standing up if I closed my eyes for long enough. Still I managed to get done opening by the time Sirch showed up at 1:30. If I had been moving faster I could have gotten more done...Especially considering that it snowed today!! Hardly anyone came into my dept. I think I helped maybe a dozen people. I'm really grateful for the compliments I received today. Sirch thanked me for some of the extra tasks I did, though he also asked if I would come in on Thanksgiving for an hour to feed the animals. I agreed. Could be fun, I've never done it before. Hopefully doing so this time means I don't have to come in on Christmas. We'll see. I got gas today though I had to wrestle with the pump to give me it. >.< I went to the school and wrote a little there but mostly napped before grabbing groceries. Got How to Train Your Dragon 2 and Arrow. ^^ Yay.

Friday, November 14th 2015

-I had the day off of work today, so I was able to sleep in and relax a bit before I headed over to the Institute to see the Devotional there. Haven't been to one of those in forever, it was nice. I hung out for a bit afterwards writing in the building before grabbing groceries. I came home and watched the rest of season one of Arrow before spending a couple of hours cleaning for the cleaning check my apartment is having tomorrow.

Looking Out For Others

Let's look at an up-to-date version of another heroic Bible message:

A certain girl went down from her locker toward the lunchroom and fell among thieves, who stripped her of her confidence and self-esteem when she overheard them making fun of her and of the way she dressed, and they walked off leaving her alone and friendless.
And by chance there came down a certain girl that way dressed in fine clothes, and when she saw her, she passed by on the other side of the hall.

And likewise, a girl from the "in" crowd of popular girls, when she was at the place, came and looked on her and passed by on the other side without speaking.

But a certain young woman came down the hall where she was, and when she saw her, she had compassion and went to her and bound up her wounds when she said, "Would you eat lunch with me?"
(author's adaption of the parable of the good Samaritan)

Each one who passed the girl in need had one question in her mind: If I stop, what will happen to me?
The girl who did stop to help also had one question: If I don't stop, what will happen to her?
When we are confident of our Father in Heaven's infinite love, we can reach out to others.

Finding Approval

So, during my weekly attempts at being social.
-You know, ward calling, ward missionary, yadda yadda.

I came across a guy that I haven't met before.

Which is always nice, meeting someone new because its rather awkward to see the same people week after week after week....gets rather boring.

In any case.
Me and my partner had a conversation with this guy.

And oo...
There was just something about him that put my back up.
He had this air of 'disapproval' about him.
Where no matter what I said. He wouldn't 'like it.'
You could tell he thought things we said were 'quaint.' 'uninteresting.'

Basically he's really good at the 'disapproving father.' motif.

And then he asked me what my plans were.
For the future.
What career I'm seeking.

Asks the guy who wants to be a History Teacher.
While I'm sitting next to the guy who wants to be a Surgeon of some sorts.

And here I am....content where I am.
Working with the animals I love. Hoping one day to be a famous author.

But I couldn't say that.
Because seriously, I was tired of him looking at me like I was just a pretty face with no direction in my life.

So I said something alone the lines of "I want to work with animals. Possibly be a vet tech or a Vet, maybe go into the business side and sell animals."

I mean, its not like I haven't thought about it before.
I'm a writer. lol.
I come up with scenarios as a hobby. What ifs. For my life, for other people's lives, for movies, for books, for random thoughts.
It's a writing thing lol.

Thought of, not really interested in.
Writing, Where I'm at.
I have a passion for it.

So, yah, I'm rather annoyed at myself that I just didn't say that "I'm happy where I'm at."
Or "I work at a PetStore. I want to be a writer."

But ooo
>.<
He so got on my nerves.
And even after I said the vet mumbo jumbo.
He still gave off that air of "you're not good enough."

So, I was rather happy to leave.

Sometimes...you just have to accept, that you can't get everyone's approval...

Until you next see these words;
I'll be watching the leaves.
Enjoy the day!

A Meeting

There's always a risk when you answer the phone for an unknown number.
Honestly....answering the phone at all whenever someone calls you usually connotes bad news.

So, I have no idea what I was thinking when I answered the phone number that looked slightly familiar.

It was the Bishopric.

....Yah....

They had news.
That they wanted to adjust my current calling a bit.

So not totally bad news.
But adjusting?
How can you adjust the calling of a Ward Missionary?

By making me the CoChair of the Online Ward Missionary thingy...

I have no idea what it means.
From what I've heard from others its basically posting spiritual things online....

The bad news...
Is that they're having a 'training' meeting.
On Saturday.
In the morning.

Its like the worst day ever to have a meeting!
Honestly I'd rather they just made me stay at church for an extra hour.
Because it's not just an hour meeting.
Oh no its a 3 hour meeting!!
ON A SATURDAY!!!
*fuming*
In the MORNING

*sighs*

We'll see how this calling goes.
In all retrospect.
It should be in my wheelhouse.
Because...I'm like always online.
Adding another item to my online rounds probably won't be that hard.

It...just depends...on what the actual 'training is.'
Guess we'll see....

>.< *sighs* I hate meetings....

Until you next read these words;
I'll be watching the leaves.
Enjoy the day!

April 2007 General Conference Sunday Morning

James E. Faust -The Healing Power of Forgiveness
  • Forgiveness is not always instantaneous.
  • Most of us need time to work through pain and loss. We can find all manner of reasons for postponing forgiveness. One of these reasons is waiting for the wrongdoers to repent before we forgive them. Yet such a delay causes us to forfeit the peace and happiness that could be ours. The folly of rehashing long-past hurts does not bring happiness.
  • Some hold grudges for a lifetime, unaware that courageously forgiving those who have wronged us is wholesome and therapeutic.
  • If we can find forgiveness in our hearts for those who have caused us hurt and injury, we will rise to a higher level of self-esteem and well-being.
Dallin H. Oaks -Divorce
  • The concept that society has a strong interest in preserving marriages for the common good as well as the good of the couple and their children has been replaced for many by the idea that marriage is only a private relationship between consenting adults, terminable at the will of either.
  • Nations that had no divorce law have adopted one, and most nations permitting divorces have made them easier to obtain. Unfortunately, under current no-fault divorce laws, it can be easier to sever a marriage relationship with an unwanted spouse than an employment relationship with an unwanted employee. Some even refer to a first marriage as a "starter marriage," like a small home one uses for a while before moving on.
  • The weakening of the concept that marriages are permanent and precious has far-reaching consequences. Influenced by their own parents' divorce or by popular notions that marriage is a ball and chain that prevents personal fulfillment, some young people shun marriage. Many who marry withhold full commitment, poised to flee at the first serious challenge.
  • In contrast, modern prophets have warned that looking upon marriage "as a mere contract that may be entered into at pleasure ... and severed at the first difficulty ... is an evil meriting severe condemnation," especially where children are made to suffer.
  • The kind of marriage required for exaltation--eternal in duration and godlike in quality--does not contemplate divorce.
  • All who have been through divorce know the pain and need the healing power and hope that come from the Atonement. That healing power and that hope are there for them and also for their children.
  • I strongly urge you and those who advise you to face up to the reality that for most marriage problems, the remedy is not divorce but repentance. Often the cause is not incompatibility but selfishness. The first step is not separation but reformation. Divorce is not an all-purpose solution, and it often creates long-term heartache. A broad-based international study of the levels of happiness before and after "major life events" found that, on average, persons are far more successful in recovering their level of happiness after the death of a spouse than after a divorce. Spouses who hope that divorce will resolve conflicts often find that it aggravates them, since the complexities that follow divorce--especially where there are children--generate new conflicts.
  • Think first of the children. Because divorce separates the interests of children from the interests of their parents, children are its first victims.
  • Under the law of the Lord, a marriage, like a human life, is a precious, living thing. If our bodies are sick, we seek to heal them. We do not give up. While there is any prospect of life, we seek healing again and again. The same should be true of our marriages, and if we seek Him, the Lord will help us and heal us.
  • Latter-day Saint spouses should do all within their power to preserve their marriages.
  • To avoid so-called "incompatibility," they should be best friends, kind and considerate, sensitive to each other's needs, always seeking to make each other happy. They should be partners in family finances, working together to regulate their desire for temporal things.
  • Of course, there can be times when one spouse falls short and the other is wounded and feels pain. When that happens, the one who is wronged should balance current disappointments against the good of the past and the brighter prospects of the future.
  • Don't treasure up past wrongs, reprocessing them again and again. In a marriage relationship, festering is destructive; forgiving is divine. Please for the guidance of the Spirit of the Lord to forgive wrongs (as President Faust has just taught us so beautifully), to overcome faults, and to strengthen relationships.
  • Even those who think their spouse is entirely to blame should not act hastily. One study found "no evidence that divorce or separation typically made adults happier than staying in an unhappy marriage.
  • "There were three parties to our marriage--my husband and I and the Lord. I told myself that if two of us could hang in there, we could hold it together."
  • Personal circumstances vary greatly. We cannot control and we are not responsible for the choices of others, even when they impact us so painfully.
  • The best way to avoid divorce from an unfaithful, abusive, or unsupportive spouse is to avoid marriage to such a person. If you wish to marry well, inquire well. Associations through "hanging out" or exchanging information on the Internet are not a sufficient basis for marriage. There should be dating, followed by careful and thoughtful and thorough courtship. There should be ample opportunities to experience the prospective spouse's behavior in a variety of circumstances. FiancĂ©s should learn everything they can about the families with whom they will soon be joined in marriage. In all of this, we should realize that a good marriage does not require a perfect man or a perfect woman. It only requires a man and a woman committed to strive together toward perfection.
  • "Two individuals approaching the marriage altar must realize that to attain the happy marriage which they hope for they must know that marriage ... means sacrifice, sharing, and even a reduction of some personal liberties. It means long, hard economizing. It means children who bring with them financial burdens, service burdens, care and worry burdens; but also it means the deepest and sweetest emotions of all."
Neil L. Andersen -It's True, Isn't It? Then What Else Matters?
  • The cause in which we are laboring is true. We respect the beliefs of our friends and neighbors. We are all sons and daughters of God. We can learn much from other men and women of faith and goodness.
  • Faith is not only a feeling; it is a decision.
Vicki F. Matsumori -A Lesson from the Book of Mormon
  • Reading and studying the scriptures continues to build our faith, helps us resist temptation, and allows us to grow closer to Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus Christ.
  • Persistence is the key. With every reading of the scriptures, unfamiliar words will take on meaning. You can read about heroes and great acts of courage. You can learn of the tender mercies of the Lord. And above all, you can feel the love of God and know that Jesus Christ is our Savior.
Glenn L. Pace -Do You Know?
  • "What is the most difficult challenge you face being the only member?"
  • She was thoughtful and gave a very astute answer: "It is believing something is true when everyone else believes it is false, and believing something is wrong when everyone else believes it's all right."
  • Once you have felt it, you can never forget it.
M. Russell Ballard -The Miracle of the Holy Bible
  • "The nature of God's word is, that whosoever read it, or hear it reasoned and disputed before him, it will begin immediately to make him every day better and better, till he be grown into a perfect man."
  • Those who join this Church do not give up their faith in the Bible--they strengthen it. The Book of Mormon does not dilute nor diminish nor de-emphasize the Bible. On the contrary, it expands, extends, and exalts it. The Book of Mormon testifies of the Bible, and both testify of Christ.
Gordon B. Hinckley -The Things of Which I Know
  • "Counsel with the Lord in all thy doings, and he will direct thee for good; yea, when thou liest down at night lie down unto the Lord, that he may watch over you in your sleep; and when thou risest in the morning let they heart be full of thanks unto God."
Until you next see these words;

Recharged In Red Rock Country

Mmmm
Energy.
Feel the power!!!

Red Rocks.
They're such an energy boost for the weary soul.

And I was able to spend a weekend down among the red rocks!
Too short.
Waaay too short.
I really need like a week, or a year or something in the red zone.
And even then it wouldn't be enough.

lol
In any case.
I wasn't in my usual red rocks area.
No.

I went somewhere new!!
O.o
What?
Somewhere new that has red rocks?!

Go figure that there are other places that have the red rocks like Moab. ;)

This time around,
I ended up in a new zone.
Called Valley of Fire.
Its located in Nevada.

Never been there.
But oh.

Sooo pretty!!
Red Rocks galore!!
So bright.
Fun!

There were even ARCHES there!
Nothing majorly huge like in Arches National Park.
But there were ARCHES!!

Ah.
Sooo happy!! ^^
It was definitely something I needed. :D
I would have inundated this post with pictures of all those nice red red rocks.
But....
>.<
Blogger isn't having it at the moment.
Maybe a different day.

So.
Amazing!
So much fun!
Definitely need to spend longer than a couple of hours there in order to totally explore the area.

Climbing.
Twisting.
Turning.
Yes.

Ah.
The trip has reawakened my dormant obsession of Red Rock country.

*rubs hands together*
Yes. Already plotting for when I can return to them.

Such a nice visit. Though.
So good.
Really need to go back. :)

Until you next read these words;
I'll be watching the leaves.
Enjoy the day!
