Three Trees

You know how....you know where something is....even though you haven't thought to find it in years. But you're for sure that you know it's at a particular spot, but when you go there...it's not?

Yah. It happened.
Mostly cus...I was turned around. Used to coming from a different direction.
You see....
My Daddoo and I were on a road trip to find a petroglyph that we'd found on previous vacations to the area.
Luckily Daddoo knew the way....
because I was like....ten last time we went to find it lol.
Anyway, we got to the stopping point.
At least we hoped it was the stopping point.
It had been like a decade since we'd come here.
And it's a hidden petroglyph.
Where there isn't a marked trail out to it.
No, we were in the middle of nowhere, crossing across rocky fields, heading...in hopefully the right direction. It seemed familiar.
Through trees, and over rocks, and down a small river area we went into.
Searching for a particular set of rocks.
We reached the stream at the bottom of the hill....
and looked left and right.
There were rocks to our left.
And soo...we headed left believing that was the right way.
Because right...it didn't look like the rocks would continue.
And so we hiked.
and hiked
over hills.
around trees.
swimming the ocean.
Climbing Everest.
Searching every rock face we found for those petroglyphs.
Nada.
Nothing.
Zip.
Zero.
I kept remarking. "Maybe the moss covered them."
"Maybe an earthquake toppled them."
And then...
in the distance.
I saw the white tinted roof...
of a home shed place.
We'd gone too far.
Nearly made it back to civilization.
And the petroglyphs weren't at all near civilization.
"Perhaps we went the wrong way." I remark echoing what Daddoo was thinking.
And so.
We retraced our steps.
So we hiked.
Searching every rock face we found just in case the light had played tricks on me.
Daddoo kept saying they were really bright and visible and we couldn't miss them.
And so around the trees.
over Everest.
Through the ocean we swam,
over hills we climbed.
around trees.
avoiding the streams.
And walked past our starting point.
Searching.
Searching.
to the right of where we had begun.
Five minutes later.
It appeared.

*Angelic Chorus*

WE FOUND IT!!!

YES!

Lol. I find it really funny that if we'd gone right instead of left....we would have found it within in minutes.

Oh well. :) I'm proud of the fact that we weren't that far off from the beginning lol ^^

It had been so long since we were there.

But it was awesome that we found it once more!!

And on our way back we made sure to pick out markers so that we'd be able to find it again easier.

lol I wonder if we'll remember those markers when we return in ten more years. ;) haha.
