184th SemiAnnual General Conference Sunday Highlights

Conference goes by waaaay too quickly. I can't believe it's already over. :( But still. Here are some highlights of what I got from today's sessions! Enjoy! ^^

Sunday Morning

President Henry B. Eyring
  • May we feel hope, light, and love from God.
  • Revelation in a parent continues in the revelation of a child.
  • Let virtue garnish they thoughts unceasingly.
  • The Holy Ghost should be that constant companion.
  • Heavenly Father knows your name. He hears your prayers, he will poor out revelation through the Holy Ghost, through his prophet to help us out. We just need to listen.
Elder Russell M. Nelson
  • Sustain your leaders, trust that they know and can do the Lord's will.
  • No prophet has called him or herself, no Prophet has been elected by the people. The Lord chooses their church leaders. We have the privilege of sustaining them. And should support those who are called to serve the Lord in any position.
  • We sustain 15 men as prophets of God. They hold all the keys that have ever been conferred to men from the Lord.
  • Decisions of these 15 must be unanimous to let anything come to pass in the church.
  • They are committed to see that the Lord's will truly Will be done.
  • There are provisions for any circumstance that may happen in the church and/or to it's leaders to keep God's work moving forward.
Sister Carol F. McConkie
  • Fear not, go and do, but do the Lord's will first before you seek after yourself.
  • In a world filled with spiritual starvation, we sustain the prophet, and heed prophetic word even when it seems unreasonable inconvenient, unpopular.
  • Following the Prophet is Always Right.
  • The Lord honors and favors those who heed prophetic direction.
Elder Robert D. Hales
  • To some it's given to know, to some it is given to believe. God does not differentiate between knowledge and belief.
  • Pray not for the world, but for those who are given out of the world.
James J. Hamula
  • We will all return to the presence of God, but not all of us will remain with him.
  • No unclean thing can enter into God's kingdom.
  • The Spirit helps us to know when we are venturing into unclean territory. The Holy Ghost helps to keep us clean and guides us back to the way to get clean if we falter.
President Thomas S. Monson
  • We are privileged to learn and know of ourselves through choices, through our agency.
  • Decisions Determine Destiny.
  • God did not send us here without guidance and direction.
  • Following his example and his teachings, it is more important than trying to retrace Christ's physical footsteps in this world. We can all walk the path Christ walked spiritually with his teachings guiding our lives.
  • Following Christ won't be easy, Christ's paths were difficult, ours will be difficult too, but can be made more easy to bear through him.
  • Do not succumb to temptation. Resist it.
  • "Get Thee Hence, Satan."
  • We can find great happiness even while we walk along paths that are bitter.
  • Stand up bravely for our beliefs. Even when others persecute us.
  • Let your light shine.
  • Ponder the path of thy feet.
  • His path will take us safely home.
Sunday Afternoon

Elder M. Russell Ballard
  • Leaders of the Church cannot and will not lead you astray from the Lord's path.
  • The leaders of the church are not out of touch with your lives.
  • Stay focused on the simple things. Avoid becoming distracted.
  • Do not let the original reasons why you became a member of the church slip away to be forgotten.
  • Focus on the body of the church, not the appendages. The message of the gospel is clear and simple, don't let Satan convince you otherwise.
  • Stay in the boat. Use your life jackets. Hold on with both hands. Avoid distractions.
  • If you've fallen out of the boat we will seek you, find you, minster to you, and pull you safely back on board.
Elder Richard G. Scott
  • Study the scriptures and ponder them.
  • Peace won't come from the outside world, it will come from within your home, your family, your own heart. It will be a gift of the spirit. It will radiate power to you and influence those around you.
  • Spend time with your family at home. Not around a TV but together.
  • Our Savior is the Prince of Peace.
  • Actively come onto Christ and we can endure any challenge that we will face.
Elder Carlos A. Godoy (Spoken in Portuguese. Woot!)
  • Sometimes a small change in the direction of our lives can have severe unseen consequences.
  • Avoid the small errors.
  • If you continue to live how you are living, will the blessings in your patriarchal blessing be fulfilled?
Elder Allan F. Packer
  • Our success individually and as a church will be determined on how faithfully we live the gospel at home.
  • Take the cover off your hatchets and go to work.
Elder Hugo E. Martinez (Talk given in Spanish. Awesome!)
  • He that serves in something is good for something, he that serves in nothing, is good for nothing.
  • First observe, then serve.
  • Being an example of Jesus Christ is our best letter of introduction to those not familiar with our faith.
Elder Larry S. Kacher
  • There are many currents in this life, some safe, others not. There are powerful forces in our life. They are real, you should never ignore them.
  • There is opposition in all things.
  • Act for yourself, don't forsake your agency to others.
Elder David A. Bednar
  • Disciples of Christ always have been and will always be valiant missionaries in his work.
  • When we invite you to church, we are not trying to sell you a product, not seeking to increase the size of the church, we don't get rewarded in it, we aren't making you believe what we believe, we're inviting you to experience our religion.
  • Our invitations are not meant to diminish your life, your religion, your experiences in any way. We invite you to come and see, to learn.
  • We want to bring joy to others that brings joy to us.
President Thomas S. Monson
  • May we resolve to try to be better, strive to improve.
  • Try and do the right thing at all times in all circumstances.
  • May we become lights to the world, shining examples of Christ's example.
