A Day of Love

Do you remember Valentine's Day in Elementary School?
Where us kids would excitedly decorate a box or some other thing to hold all our valentines.
In anticipation for said valentines. For the notes from friends, for all that candy!

It was a time to give.
To share our appreciation for each other.
No matter who the person was.

It's something I miss.

When we were little, every holiday was a big event.
Things were done, parties had, gifts/candy exchanged.
Good feelings all around.

But...
It doesn't feel that way much anymore.
Which makes me wonder....
Why did the magic disappear?
Why did people stop giving?

Sure.
Part of it is because we now have to provide the valentine's ourselves instead of relying on our parents to buy them for us.
Still...even if you're low on cash.
It's not hard to make someone feel special.
Even if you have no one special currently in your life to give a Valentine to.
Friends and Family still count.

So why....
Why not think of another this day?

It made me rather sad.
To give a friend a Valentine today, and to have them say in surprise.
"Oh....I don't really celebrate Valentine's Day."

:( So. So Sad.
It's a day of love.
Celebrate love.
There are all kinds of it.
And it will make others days brighter to have them be given something.
Just a small token.
To let them know, that someone is thinking of them.
This day. Of Showing Appreciation for Love.

Get rid of the 'woe is me, I'm single' mentality.
And Share. Care. Give.

Like when we were children. :)

Until you next read these words;
I'll be watching the leaves.
Enjoy the day!
