I Know Him

I know him.
I know him.
I know him.

That's what I thought when I read the name.
Elder Norby.
One of the missionaries that was hit by the bomb in Brussels.

But no.
It couldn't be.
Why would he be over there?

Was it who I thought it was?
No, the Norby I know is an older fellow.

But checking the news.
It was confirmed.
Elder Norby.
I know him.

It's so weird.
I've never known anyone who's been part of a terrorist attack before.
I've known people who've known people.
But I've never known anyone....

But Elder Norby.
I know him.
He was the Director of the Orem Institute of Religion when I was on the LDSSA council there. I met him on occasion. Talked with him a bit. Shook his hand.

And now....years later, he's halfway around the world.
In a medically induced coma. Recovering from burns and shrapnel from the bomb.

It's weird.
So weird.

I read about this all the time....my heart breaks every time I hear about more violence, more terror, more deaths, more injuries.

Now though....I actually know one of the people.

So. Very. Weird.

I hope that everyone who survived the attack recovers. For some it will be a longer process than others, but in the end. I hope everyone recovers. Are able to move on. To make something out of their lives. And prove that in the end, the bad guys can't keep good people down.

Until you next read these words;
I'll be watching the leaves.
Enjoy the day!
