The Raffle Ticket

Raffles.
I haven't really been a fan of them.
Mostly because...I don't win.
And I don't like the concept that it's not....equal.
I mean. someone may only be able to afford to have one ticket.
While another can buy like a thousand.
Therefore making it more likely that the one with a thousand tickets will win most of the prizes.
While the guy with a single ticket...isn't as likely.
I mean if everyone had an equal opportunity to get the prize.
I think it would be a bit more fair.

But...that's not how raffles work unfortunately.
And my work is doing one this month.
Because we won a couple of gift cards in a district wide competition,
the managers have decided to do a weekly raffle.
Giving out prizes until Christmas Eve when a Grand Prize will be given.

How do we get tickets?
Well...by selling these Stuffed Animals.
As the proceeds of selling them go to charities and shelters of homeless pets.

But like being able to afford a thousand tickets....
Not all of us are able to sell these toys to get our tickets.
As not all of us are at the registers.

For example...my shifts usually end before the store opens.
How do I get tickets if I can't sell anything as I leave before any customers come in?
Others are in the same predicament as me.
Even if they're in the store when customers are there, they aren't always up front helping customers check out.

I've brought this up to a couple of managers, and they've brought it up in their meetings.
So they're doing other things as well that can get us extra tickets.
They still mostly involve selling things, but they are getting better at it.
So it makes it more like the proactive actually get the tickets, and the lazy don't.

Yet...there are those who are active who don't get tickets.

So today.
I did something different.
You see, I was scheduled for after opening, and on the register.
So I had more opportunities to get tickets.
I got 9 today. :D
Woot!
My first ones lol.
But...I didn't keep them all.
Instead I gave some to a coworker so they have a chance to win the grand prize as well.
:)
Just evening the odds a bit. :)

I hope they win the Grand Prize. ^^
It will make their day. :)

Until you next see these words;
I'll be watching the leaves.
Enjoy the day!
