Heatwave

It's amazing the difference that one tree can make.

^^;; Yes, I'm continuing my theme of fire related posts. How much longer I will do so remains unknown lol.

But because of the fire Saturday evening, one of our two large trees on the hill behind our backyard needed to be cut down to keep it from eventually falling onto powerlines because the tree was rotted and burned. :S

Which was great because NOW WE HAVE A VIEW OF THE LAKE AND IT'S AMAZING!!

But like...
I'm also missing the shade the tree provided to the back of our house.
I mean.
It sucked looking out the back windows and seeing just branches and leaves.
Especially with firework season fast approaching, because I love watching the fireworks. ^^;;

But the two trees....provide shade to the back of house.
Keeping it cooler as the summer sun sets.

Which is nice,
Especially last year when our AC broke and it took a bit of time to get it fixed.

And like...we probably wouldn't have noticed much of a difference at first really.
Except summer decided to strike this week. Giving us 90 degree weather.
O.o Like Calm down sun. It's only June. Stay a little cooler for longer please.

In any case.
I'd kinda figured that the upstairs was just getting hot because we had avoided turning on the AC for a while. Basically waiting for the sun to set so it would stop cooking the burn area and sending more smoke smell wafting at us. Especially because the AC is at the back of the house, close to the burn area. We didn't want the fire smell being drawn in.

But today was the first day we really felt alright with letting the AC run to cool down the house.

And it's crazy.
Because to a certain point in the day we let the house stay hotter, like 80. And then, since I like the cold, when I get home from work the AC kicks in to cool down the house again.

Not too much like 76.

Well that was what happened....
Only....
The AC was running and trying to cool the house down....
yet the temperature inside kept rising. It was at 84 when I last checked.
...and this was with the AC running near constantly since I got home.

The only difference?
The sun was closer to setting now than it had been earlier.

*shakes head*
It's something we haven't really dealt with before.

So I can only guess that that the shade provided from that tree that needed to be cut down...helped our poor AC with keeping the house cooler too.

-Especially since there's apparently no return intake in the basement? So the cold air comes down...but never gets circulated back up to the top floor? (who built this house? they were crazy)

So like, it's freezing downstairs and hot upstairs.
*shakes head*
So. Weird.

But yah.
We're definitely missing the shade of that tree right now.
>.>
<.<
Hopefully if another tree is replanted it's one that grows ---well I was going to say quickly, but at the same time...I kinda like having that view.....
So hopefully we figure out a better solution to helping the house stay cooler!!! :D
Else I'll just live in the basement. That's fine too. ^^;; Haha.

Until you next read these words;
I'll be watching the leaves.
Enjoy the day!
