White Things

Our cotton tree bloomed today.
Aka all the white fluffy cotton exploded out of it's protective covering....once more coating our house in a summer's snowstorm of white fluffy stuff.

And it was amazing.

Amazing for the simple fact that the cotton chose to appear today.
And not yesterday.
When the fire happened.

-Dunno if the fire triggered the cotton to bloom or not....

But this morning when I woke up and looked outside and saw the fluffy white stuff?

I was grateful.
Grateful that it was today.
And not yesterday.

Because if it had been yesterday.
Than all those cotton things would have caught fire.
They probably would have floated towards the house on the wind.
Probably would have caught our house on fire.

But didn't.
Because they hadn't yet made an appearance yesterday.
No. Today the cotton had chosen to appear on our tree.

Speaking of trees....

The second cotton wood behind our house was cut down morning.
A guy had come by late last night to check out the trees and assess how much damage they'd taken and how much of a hazard they were to nearby powerlines and decided that the one tree would need to come down.

Because a) it was burnt. but b) it was also rotted on the inside.
Like the fireman yesterday managed to knock down a thick branch like, need two hands to wrap around the branch thick, with barely any effort.
So yah. Major hazard.

So this morning, the crews came out and cut the tree down.
Giving us, for the first time ever.

A view.

The two cottonwood trees (the blooming one and the cut down one) totally blocked the view behind our house. So we couldn't really see anything beyond it unless it was winter and the branches were bare.

And now. We have a view.
We can see the valley.
We can see the houses below.
We can see the lake.

It's crazy!!
It's awesome!!
I've always wanted to see the view from the back of our house.
^^;;
Now I can!!

And now I can't wait for firework season to start. So I can actually see them shoot into the sky. ^^
So looking forward to it!!

Until you next read these words;
I'll be watching the leaves.
Enjoy the day!
