Stump Notches

We were on a hike in Mesa Verde, hiking along the plateau.
And every now and then I would see these tree stumps.
With notches in them.
Not every tree stump had them.
But some did.

At first, I admit, I thought that it was some sort of creature.
Because at first I saw alot of stumps with just three claw marks in them.
I hypothesized that it might be some weird beavers or something.
Maybe a bear marking territory.
For why would humans mark up trees?
lol. I actually figured that the marks were human made.

And I think that trees that had 'fallen over' or blocked the trail in some manner,
(i saw the marks on an extended log heading to the trail.)
Had been cut down to make room or make the trail clear.
Basically if the trees hadn't fallen over naturally.
They received a nice little 'badge' to tell rangers.
"Hey I had to be cut down for you!"

I thought the marks looked interesting :)
So I snapped a few pictures :)

Until you next see these words;
I'll be watching the leaves.

Enjoy the day!

The Dream

The king had just died.
And the ambassador from a foreign nation -involving water, was set to become the next king.
Because the people loved him, and he was the most worthy candidate.
He had made friends with a young man (teenager) who was going on a mission.
Before they left the guy held out is hands about six inches apart.
and the ambassador moved one hand in between the teenagers to.
The hand was flat and open but he moved it in a circle like he was turning something/spinning something.
Fire appeared in the boys hands, as well as on the ambassador.
-signaling that the boy had ability with fire.
Before sending him off on his journey to wherever it was.

However he went on his journey.
He eventually ended up 'bonded' to a dragon. It was dark, black in color.
And somehow or another....they went on an adventure.
Got captured,
Along with two other people.
But they escaped!
The boy ended up getting 'left behind' in a tree.
As the dragon flew to the castle of the boy's home.
And landed with the families (suddenly there were more) dressed in Snuggle type robes.
Red and Orange...other colors.
The castle people were on the defense.
And the boy, dressed in a blue robe.
Ran into the village around the castle.
Causing mass panic.
Because he was wearing a blue robe.
The color of powerful invader enemies that hadn't been seen in a while.
So he began to battle to get his way up to the dragon.
Most of the people ran away, but he easily defeated those who opposed him with the sword.
He got up to the roof where the dragon was and the other people.
And got caught.
He was held by the arms by two guards.
And the ambassador -now king- came up to him.
And the boy started babbling basically saying "you're king now? great!" blah blah blah.
Because he was terrified they would kill him and the people he rescued and the dragon.
-It had been years since the king had last seen him.
So he looked older.
He had...'wolverine' styled hair (from x-men movies)
Basically looked different.
It started to rain.
And news that other invaders were attacking got to the castle.
The king came up to the boy.
And told him to hold out his hands -doing the 'test' that the king had done years ago.
So he held out his hands and the king put his hand in between them and started 'spinning' the hand.
And fire appeared in the left hand and a watery smoke appeared in the right.
-showing that the boy could now control water as well as fire
because he had bonded with a dragon that was a 'water' dragon.
It was enough to convince the king that the boy was who he said he was.
So he allowed the family that had been rescued to go downstairs into a 'safe room'
To hide so that they couldn't be found.
While the boy and the dragon got ready to help out with the war.
One family consisted of a Mother and her three small children, two girls and a boy.
The oldest might have been 10, 8, 6.
And then there was an old woman, very short, about the same size as the children.
She wasn't related to them, and it seemed like she was a witch of some sort.
Not someone to be messed with.
So in the room were five beds.
Two of them were bigger, for the adults. and seemed to be chained to the wall, with ladders leading up to them.
In the ladder however was another bed. Smaller, more sized for children...or baby dolls.
They were small beds and the children were arguing about who got which bed

When the unholy tones of daylight pulled me away....
and I became myself again.
