189th Annual General Conference -Saturday Session Highlights

Morning Session

Ulisses Soares
  • Our lives need to be rooted upon the Rock of our Savior Jesus Christ.
  • We will be able to discern the truth at all times.
  • Our actions must reflect what we learn and teach. The best teacher is a good role model.
  • If we want others to rejoice in the scriptures, we need to show them our own heart's delight in the scriptures as well.
  • Actions speaks louder than words.
  • No one is totally lost because the Lord knows where they are and is watching over them.
  • Look for the good in others and never give up on them.
  • Hope is always an important part of the gospel plan.
Becky Craven
  • We are blessed to know how and where true happiness can be found.
  • Though we may encounter obstacles, so long as we stay firmly on the path we will reach our eternal destination.
  • If we are not careful in living our covenants we may find ourselves wandering upon forbidden paths.
  • There is a careful way and a casual way in everything we do.
  • We can rationalize all we want, but the fact remains. There is not a right way to do the wrong thing.
  • Being Careful does not equal being formal or stuffy.
  • We are each in the process of growth and change.
  • As a covenant people, we are not meant to blend in with the rest of the world.
  • It is impossible to live a perfect life. We may not be perfect, but we can be worthy.
Brook P. Hales
  • Heavenly Father is involved in the details of our lives.
  • The Father is aware of us, knows our needs, and will help us. But sometimes it's in his timing in his way, not always as we hope he will help us.
  • The answer to many righteous prayers may be No in order to favor a more superior outcome that will come later.
  • Sometimes Heavenly Father doesn't give you everything you want in the moment you want it.
  • The Father is aware of you and your feelings and your needs.
  • Faith also includes trust in God's timing.
Dieter F. Uchtdorf

  • Love them and treat them as fellow children of Heavenly Father.
  • Walking the path of discipleship takes practice. Keep trying. You'll eventually get it right.
  • Always look for opportunities to bring up your faith in natural and normal ways.
  • You can be confident, courageous, and humble as you share the gospel of Christ.
  • Some who Come and See may Never join the Church. That is their choice, but it shouldn't change our love for them.
  • It's not your job to convert people. That is the role of the Holy Ghost. It is your job to share what is in your heart that is consistent with your beliefs.
  • Believe. Love. Do.
  • We can all do this together.
W. Christopher Waddell
  • If someone is on a list that says "not interested" Don't Give Up. People Change.
  • No one is too far gone and it is Never too late for the Savior's loving reach.

  • As we strive to become faithful disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ, we can find peace, love, and happiness despite the troubles of the world around us.
  • All Heavenly Father asks of us is to do the best we can do each and every day.
  • Sin and Transgression dims the light of Christ in our lives. That's why our quest is the bask in the Light of Christ.
  • We are responsible for maintaining the gospel on the Earth.
  • The best ways for us to see the spiritual purposes of the Church is to live the pure simple teachings of Jesus Christ.
  • We will naturally feel more happiness when we love and serve others and God.
  • Learning and Teaching the Gospel in our Families is an important way to find peace and happiness in our lives.
  • As we teach our testimonies simple and focused on the Gospel of Christ, He will provide spiritual renewal.
  • The most joy comes from the simple things in life.
  • Let's not complicate things. Keep it simple. It is in simplicity that you will find peace, joy, and happiness.
Mathias Held
  • We saw friendly and happy people in wonderful families that understood we are supposed to feel joy in this life.
  • Even in our indecision, the Lord is patiently preparing us, molding us, teaching us.
  • Some things are more important than understanding when you feel you already know enough.
  • I will give unto the children of men, line upon line, precept upon precept, and blessed are those who hearken unto them for they will learn wisdom.
  • Through the gift of the Holy Ghost the Father has provided us with a Spiritual Perspective.
  • By the power of the Holy Ghost you may know the truth of all things.
Neil L. Andersen
  • What is Truth? The answer can be painfully complex to a worldly mind.
  • Truth looks forward and backwards, expanding our perspective of our small slot of time.
  • Our Mortal Quest is to strength our faith and to choose good over evil.
  • There will always be counterfeits to distract God's children from the truth.
  • We can Know the things of God as we Seek them Spiritually.
  • We see the truths of God through the perspective of an eye of faith.
  • Everyone has a divine nature and a destiny.
  • Our Spiritual Growth in the Premortal World influences who we are here.
  • Prophets see ahead. They see the harrowing dangers the adversary will place in our path. They also see the grand possibilities and privileges awaiting those who listen with the intent to obey.
  • God's standards are different from those of the world.
  • Try to keep the focus off of what you Don't Have and On what you Do Have.
Takashi Wada
  • Continue to press forward with a streadfastness in Christ.
  • Feasting upon the Scriptures isn't just reading them, they should bring us real joy.
  • The blessings of feasting upon the words of Christ are powerful and life changing.
  • Needed revelation will come as you try the virtue of the word.
  • I am not alone. I am a child of God.
  • The Lord will do his part to touch the hearts of those of whom we wish to share the gospel to.
  • God is inviting you to come and follow him.
David P. Homer
  • At critical moments in our lives we will hear multiple voices competing for our attention. It is vital that we listen to the right ones.
  • Experience teaches that what is popular isn't always what is best. Halting between two directions brings no decision.
  • If we are not careful we may find ourselves in places where faith is difficult to sustain and bitterness is abundant.
  • If we spend too much time in faithless places, dark voices will deprive us of the spiritual oxygen that we need.
  • Our Heavenly Father wants Better for us, he makes it possible to hear His voice. Most often this is done through impressions given by the Holy Ghost.
  • The Spirit will speak to different people in different ways, and will also at times speak to an individual in different ways in different seasons of their lives.
  • The Prophet and Apostles tell us what we need to know, whether it is popular or not.
  • Answers are sometimes slow to come because it's not the right time or the answer is not needed.
  • God will not let you get too far down the path if you've made the wrong decision.
  • If we are Diligent, Heavenly Father and His Son will give us the direction we seek, the strength we need, and the happiness we desire.
Jeffrey R. Holland
  • You should offer unto me a broken heart and a contrite spirit. And whoso cometh unto me with these, him will I baptize with fire and the Holy Ghost.
  • The Sacrament is The Sacred Focal Point of our Week.
  • Jesus Christ's Sacrifice demands respect.
  • An occasional tardiness is understandable. But if the Ox in the Mire EVERY Sunday...then sell the Ox or fill the Mire.
  • If there's chatter on the stand, then we shouldn't be surprised at chatter in the congregation.
  • This Hour Ordained of the Lord is the most Sacred Hour of our Week. Treat it as such.
  • When the Sacred Hour Comes, to present our Sacrificial Gift to the Lord. We do have our own sins & shortcomings to resolve. But we might be more successful in contrition if we're mindful of other's broken hearts/spirits around us.
  • There's no shortage of suffering in this world. So look in any direction. You'll find someone who's pain is seeming too heavy to bear and who's heartache never seems to end. One way to always remember Him would be to join Him in his Never Ending task of lifting the loads of others burdens.
Priesthood Session

Gary E. Stevenson
  • Successful players study the playbook thoroughly to the point where they can instinctively react to the plays called.
  • Great Coaches know the strengths and weaknesses of their own team along with the opposition.
  • When a game plan, a playbook and a firm commitment to play your role you will find temptation has less control over you. You won't need to decide everytime you're confronted with temptation.
  • Your example can be a strength for others to draw on later in their lives.
  • We are called to be strong and of good courage when defending the truth.
  • God is pleased with your efforts.
  • Plan ahead how you will face temptation.
  • Your commitment to hold firmly to the iron rod will transform you into the eternal being you are destined to become.
  • Do you feel unimportant or inferior? You may be just what God needs. For he uses weaknesses and turns them into strengths.
  • Rescue. Support. And Love them as a fellow team member.
  • As a Priesthood holder you need to have the mindset where if you fail, you will repent, practice and learn better for next time.
  • Put on the full Armor of God and Get. In. The. Game!
Carl B. Cook
  • As the Lord gathers his children they need a place to Grow and Belong.
  • No one can be left behind.
  • Maybe I was an Underdog. Maybe I was a longshot, but Priesthood Quorums changed my odds to give me success.
  • Disciples are often gathered a few at a time as they're invited by their friends.
  • The principles applied are true anywhere. Wherever you are your quorum can grow.
Kim B. Clark
  • Be of Good Comfort. Thy Faith hath made Thee Whole.
  • We are engaged in the work of Salvation.
  • Doubt Not. Fear Not.
  • There is nothing easy or automatic about becoming powerful disciples. Our focus must be riveted on the Gospel of the Savior.
  • We are Not Alone. Our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ love us and are with us.
  • When Divine Light and Power Flow into our Lives 3 things happen:
    1st we can see.
    2nd we have priesthood power.
3rd Jesus Christ goes with us. Where we go. He goes.
Henry B. Eyring
  • The Lord appreciates that you've sustained his servants in His Church.
  • Your faith to sustain servants of God has been at the heart of your ability to have happiness here on Earth as well.
  • When you let someone place their hands on your head for blessings, you sustain them.
  • Each Sustaining was a Simple Event of Trusting a Servant of God.
  • Keeping your promises often takes unshakeable faith.
Dallin H. Oaks
  • Our present and our future will be happier if we're always conscious of the future.
  • Some decisions are choices between doing Something and doing Nothing.
  • Anyone in a crowd could have warned the individual. But none did.
  • Don't wait until the moment of impact to rush to avoid the outcome one foresees.
  • We cannot afford to do nothing when the consequences are immediate and serious.
  • All too often our choices are between Two Goods instead of a Good and an Evil.
  • If we spend time doing one thing, we lose the opportunity to the do the other. We need to measure thoughtfully what we are loosing by what we spend time on doing.
  • Just because something is good, is not a sufficient reason to do it.
  • Don't think of yourselves in terms that put limits on your goals for which you are striving for.
  • We make countless choices in our lives. Some large and some seemingly small.
  • Begin with the end in mind.
Russell M. Nelson
  • Begin with the end in mind.
  • Jesus stands with open arms hoping and willing to heal us.
  • Repentance is not an Event it is a Process. It is the key to happiness and peace of mind.
  • Let us choose to be and do a little better each day.
  • The Lord does not expect perfection from us at this point in our lives. He does expect us to become increasingly pure. Purity brings power.
  • Identify what's stopping you from repenting and then change. Repent. Be Better than Before.
  • Because Satan is miserable Without a Body he wants us to be Miserable with Ours.
  • Become one with your spouse. Be their partner. Make it easy for them to want to be yours.
  • Where do you devote your time and energy? That is where your heart is.
  • Listening to your spouse's input will help your output.
  • As servants of the Lord we Can. Not. Be. Asleep. While the battle rages.
  • Satan knows who you are and who you were premortally. He's going to do his best to stop you. Don't let him.
  • The Lord needs Selfless Men who put the welfare of others in front of their own.
  • I bless you with the courage to repent daily.
