Back to Orange

So I mentioned a few days ago that over the weekend we had quite the increase in COVID cases in my state.

Over 3 days we had over 3,000 cases reported. Basically 1,000 cases a day.

Which is a huge cause for concern because we'd been averaging around half that.

And apparently many of the cases are coming from the college kids.

And being a college town that means a lot of the cases are coming from my county, from two cities that I work/live in.

Turns out the Governor has taken note of this and has decided to move my area back into the 'Orange' in our Red/Orange/Yellow/Green meter.

We'd been in the Yellow before.

Now it's just Collegetown that's in the orange.

The rest of the state has moved to yellow or green.

But starting Thursday, my area will be considered an Orange Zone for the next month.

So that's gonna be fun. *shakes head*

And it was just irritating, after getting the news, to see how many people were still coming into my store with our very obvious "MASKS REQUIRED" signs not wearing masks.

Like guys. YOU'RE the reason we're in this mess. Why not wear a mask? It's super easy.

But nooo it's a person's right to not wear a mask. *rolls eyes*

I almost wish that the mask mandate that was issued only a little bit ago, effective immediately, for my entire county stating that people need to wear masks in public whether they're inside or outside actually had any teeth to it.

Because if we could just get everyone -especially all the new college kids- to mask up and to actually social distance -as high school and college kids are having a grand old time throwing get togethers of various types that are crowded and maskless- then we could have avoided this spike.

But the mask mandate is more of a 'follow it out of the goodness of your heart' the police aren't going to do more than like...talk to people about wearing masks.

So yah. Pointless gesture that way.

But hopefully people will be smart about it (though if they haven't been yet I doubt they will be now) and will put on their masks.

We'll see.

Until you next see these words;
I'll be watching the leaves.
Enjoy the day!
